I have been contemplating homeschooling my kids and have been scared thinking I wouldn’t be a good teacher and how would they get socialized…and then I read your book “how to start homeschooling” and I just want to say thank you so so much!! I cannot tell you how hopeful this book was and it gave me the courage to finally make the decision to do it. I believe your book has just been the start to guide me on a very beautiful and scary journey. God bless you for writing this book it’s changed my life for the better and I’m so excited.
I definitely know that teachers don't know every subject they teach because I have several teacher friends and they say the same thing you said. My friends panic when they are told that they have to teach a subject they've never taught before. This is a great video. Your giving those new to the homeschooling (like me) the confidence to keep going. Thank you!
Love this! Thanks for making this video! I’ve always believed that parents are qualified to teach their children (I’d even go further and say they can do a better job!), but I love hearing it from the perspective of a certified teacher! More videos like this please! I’ll be sharing this with the doubters! 😁
Starting homeschool at kinder allows us to relearn all the things we may have missed or not understood. I have gone through k-12 in my childhood plus my oldest (20), and now I am doing 3rd grade and Kinder again! But its absolutely do able even in the older years!
Great video, it definitely helps with confidence! I do have a question. You mentioned how so many traditionally schooled kids lost out during covid. I 100% see this in my daughter. She is now in 7th grade and I can tell she just doesn’t have that basic foundation in math, reading, or writing. Her school shut down for the end of 2nd grade, all of 3rd grade, and the beginning of 4th grade. (When I say “shut down” I mean they did virtual learning) At this point in 7th grade, do you have any recommendations on how to help her establish those fundamentals- without starting at the beginning?
I would first figure out what areas specifically she needs work on. I would then find some games to play to work on those skills. Video games, board games, card games...there are lots of games that make it fun, and they don't realize they are practising these skills. Also Duolingo kids has a Math level (like learning a second language but Math facts) which might be a simple way to start.
Thank you for amazing video . Just want to start my daughter home schooling she is in French immersion school. Did I need to write anything extra in the letter of intent.
If you move, you don't need to inform the local board and you can just send a letter to your current school board stating that you are moving. You can really take as many vacation days as you want in Ontario, since there are no rules. But depending on where you live or move you, you need to follow the laws there.
You want it to be phonics based for sure! I love All about Reading, it's a solid program. Teach you child to read in 100 lessons is also a great and cost effective option amzn.to/48w5cn3. I also love Chalkboard publishing phonics workbooks to get them started amzn.to/3YypEzn
This video was such a relief for me. I have been excited but EXTREMELY nervous about pulling my kids. But this has boosted my confidence. Thank you thank you thank you!!! 🫶

Yes!! Even in high school, it's totally possible!

Nope! You just send a standard letter and you are good to go!
Also if we moved to different city in Ontario should we need to inform right away . And how many days we can plan vacations . Response appreciated.

Busy homeschooling mom of six kids. I am needing something simple but effective to teach my six year old to read.
Do you have any recommendations?
