This song is an awakening to the world as it truly is, horrific and terrifying. We all realize at some point that there are no fairy tale endings and this world is cruel. I also see it as a kind of apologetic prayer. Simply put, I tried to do the best I could with what I had and please forgive me if I get it wrong which something I'm sure a lot of us can relate to.
You know that there are muslim choruses in between? Who are the ones searching "holy wars" nowadays and waging it against christians above all? Not christianity of course. I think it's obvious
The rose A truly lovely flower, hiding it's secrets beneath a layer of harsh cruel thorns A flower, red with a sinners evil deeds, white with the souls of the pure angels, black with the harsh truth of both our, and our world's fate You must be willing to bleed in order to see the truth behind this world The light won't protect you The darkness won't shield you The rose is not as it seems It is not I sigh of love or affection It's a symbol of the blood shed by war and pain A symbol of fading beliefs for forgiveness from the heavens, from the angels that won't catch you if you fall In the end, it doesn't matter how hard you try, Because you're going to die no matter what you do I know, it sucks But, as a song once quoted The truth is hard to swallow
super late reply but apparently "'The Truth Beneath the Rose' is based on 'The Da Vinci Code' and is about the idea that belief is sometimes used to justify sins. On the other hand, it may be more important with belief that it's your own belief and you can stand behind it instead of following the belief other people may want to put upon you."
It is 2019 and her voice is still the closest thing on earth to an angel~ I have no idea how she fucking does it but I commend her as well as admire her completely 😍😍😍
Arielle Barajas erm no offence , I do agree with you but have you heard of lee and lie her channel is amazing, if you are looking for covers of anime openings, ending check her out if your into anime
Gods, the first 30 seconds of this song are GORGEOUS. They sound like the score for a film of a sweepingly romantic Victorian tale. Within Temptation is a great rock band, but if they did more acoustic stuff, too, that would be amazing.
As a marine veteran this song hits the heart strings at the age old question am I forgiven as I murder people I never ment in a place I never been or never will be again abroad to make it back home to the ones I love live in peace die of old age and go to heaven as a believer
As long as you fight for what you believe is right and if you do not know what is right then fight for the ones you love behind rather than the ones you hate in front. No one is worse or better than you since you got enough bravery to kill someone you do not even know in their homeland even as you said will never go back there again. People often kill by hatred and anger but soldiers just kill and go so obviously it made you think about it.
This is my fav song of all. I love Ice Queen, Silver Moonlight, Whole World is Watching and so many others... but there's something special about this one.
This has been around a while and it is still awesome! A question for any of the afficionados: Can anyone recite the Latin lyrics at the end? I'd like to know what they are...I don't necessarily need a translation, but I love Latin and would love to know what they're saying.
Not sure if this is accurate, but people seem to at least agree on the Latin if not the translation: Et est signum Dies datum Et tenebris Mea culpa Acta est fabula pereo The translation I found was: "And there is a sign, the given day, and by darkness, my tale is told, and I perish." Latin is wonky though. Decide for yourself.
After seeing this suggested to me so many times, I finally listened. If it's not my new favorite Within Temptation song, it's number three at lowest. Holy shit.
This song.... It relates to many people especially me... I have a darker side beneath the rose. It has haunted me for four years.. I thank you for making this video, truthfully magnificent.
For me, this explains the dark night of the soul really well. If you know what that means, you’ll get where I’m coming from. Also this song would be perfect in Phantom of the Opera
I can see how the song is related to Christianity, but I don't get how it is based on Wicca. Can someone explain that to me? I love this song and Sharons voice.
LYRICS: Give me strength to face the truth, the doubt within my soul No longer I can justify the bloodshed in his name Is it a sin to seek the truth, the truth beneath the rose? Pray with me so I will find the gate to Heaven's door I believed it would justify the means It had a hold over me Blinded to see the cruelty of the beast It is the darker side of me The veil of my dreams deceived all I have seen Forgive me for what I have been Forgive me my sins Pray for me cause I have lost my faith in holy wars Is paradise denied to me cause I can't take no more Has darkness taken over me, consumed my mortal soul All my virtues sacrificed, can Heaven be so cruel? I believed it would justify the means It had a hold over me Blinded to see the cruelty of the beast It is the darker side of me The veil of my dreams deceived all I have seen Forgive me for what I have been Forgive me my sins I'm hoping, I'm praying I won't get lost between two worlds For all I have seen the truth lies in between Give me the strength to face the wrong that I have done Now that I know the darkest side of me How can blood be our salvation And justify the pain that we have caused throughout the times Will I learn what's truly sacred? Will I redeem my soul, will truth set me free? Blinded to see the cruelty of the beast It is the darker side of me The veil of my dreams deceived all I have seen Forgive me for what I have been Forgive me my sins
When you compare the Crusades to the Muslim atrocities in the 450 years before hand then the Crusades take on a whole different meaning. The leader of Islam after Muhammed died went straight into conquest and over the next century Muslims took over the entire middle east, North Africa and Spain. They were stopped from conquering Europe in the Battle of Tours in 732. But that didn't stop the attacks, they attacked Christendom for another three hundred years. The Siege of Constantinople finally was the tipping point and kicked off the Crusades. If anything the Crusades were a retaliation against all the Muslim aggression and it showed that the Christian kingdoms had a lot of restraint.
Don't call them muslims 😞 they just kill in the name of Islam to fulfill their own greedy needs and goals, true muslims never participate in such wars , Isis now also kill in the name of Islam ,but there are many verses in Quran which are against aggression and oppression
I have a humble request - can some of the experienced you tube users make a clip with that song and scenes from the Da Vinci Code movie focusing on Police Captain Bezu Fache? I got the feeling this song is about him and his realization that he has been manipulated by the archbishop he trusted, and dragged into a Holy War . We even have a rose hiding a secret in the title! :-) Thanks to the uploader - great song by Within Temptation - I love this band!
+Nikola LesovLiterally the first thing that came to mind when I saw the title was "Sub Rosa". I´m glad I´m not the only one who feels like it fits the movie/book uncannily well! :D

I believe this song talks about how an individual became fooled by human teachings that were FALSELY justified in the name of the Gods. Not all religions are evil but the men who belong within it have clouded hearts which emanates the evil within.
Eternal Path I've come to think that Religion and believing in a God/Gods have become a different thing. As you pointed out, Religious text and teaching is done by man, not God(s)

A Rose, beautiful thing. You can seek the truth beneath it's skin, but not without bleeding from the thorns...
Very poetically worded! Spot on. 🤩

I love this song!! To me it is an excellent commentary not necessarily about Christianity, but more of the Christian church itself. Fantastic song.
How is it related to christianity?
You know that there are muslim choruses in between? Who are the ones searching "holy wars" nowadays and waging it against christians above all? Not christianity of course. I think it's obvious
This song makes me want to listen to it over and over and over again
"Is paradise denied to me? Cause I can't take no more...!"
:'(
My exact feelings at the spring of 2022.
The rose
A truly lovely flower, hiding it's secrets beneath a layer of harsh cruel thorns
A flower, red with a sinners evil deeds, white with the souls of the pure angels, black with the harsh truth of both our, and our world's fate
You must be willing to bleed in order to see the truth behind this world
The light won't protect you
The darkness won't shield you
The rose is not as it seems
It is not I sigh of love or affection
It's a symbol of the blood shed by war and pain
A symbol of fading beliefs for forgiveness from the heavens, from the angels that won't catch you if you fall
In the end, it doesn't matter how hard you try,
Because you're going to die no matter what you do
I know, it sucks
But, as a song once quoted
The truth is hard to swallow
This is by far the best most accurate description of the hidden meaning. How you figure this out?
@@EgyptianPricess my mental state had been destroyed for years
It really wasn't that hard

No longer I can justify the bloodshed in his name
Is it a sin to seek the truth, the truth beneath the rose?

Has darkness taken over me, consumed my mortal soul
All my virtues sacrificed, can Heaven be so cruel?

Religion is not God, Religion drives to hate and judgement; God drives us to love and mercy.
I didn't say anything about God(s)
