The hardest part about starting these mixes was that a significant portion of them happened before we were even born. The 70s has been one of our most referenced decades, most likely due to our parents having played this music as we grew up. The most immediately obvious thing, while creating the 72-82 mix, was the lack of electronic production in the early parts of it. Drums sat lower in the mix, and there was no metronomic timing to them, leaving it all up to the feeling of the drummer.
Musically, the decade felt incredibly unique, in that musicians were given record deals based more on talent than an image. It was the conception of sampling and hip-hop, with the Sugar Hill Gang’s ‘Rapper’s Delight’, and the earliest trace of electronic dance music, with Giorgio Moroder & Donna Summer’s ‘I Feel Love’.
It also appeared to be a time of significant change, with impeachment, the ending of a war, and the mass revolt on disco, as a genre. Interestingly, 1972-1982 ended with a string of assassination attempts (and one success), on what represented the leaders of the 3 worlds we can’t escape. Politics, religion, and music (President Reagan, Pope John Paul II, John Lennon).

45:26 NY Excuse is a song by Soulwax released in 2005 on PIAS records. It does contain however a sample of Funkytown as performed by Lipps, Inc in 1979. So in my opinion it's wrong to use the song in this decade compilation. Nevertheless, nice mix.
This is a mix, not a 1970s compilation. Flight Facilities do quite a few dj mixes and remixes of songs, songs aside from the one you mentioned also aren't the original.
I feel like flight facilities made this for their fans, to make yay... Classic, good cool yo boogie on!. 🍸💃🏼🕺🌼

Dumb question maybe, but is there a certain genre this mix falls under?
I would say house, bus really this is just a mashup of all different songs and genres. This really doesn't fit in a genre. If you want to categorize it I would say that you should use that it is mixes of certain points of time, and not genre.
As someone who grew up with these tracks, my social circle referred to this era, as 'rare groove', or 'boogie'. Of course, these tracks span funk, soul, hip-hop, electro and disco (common to the era). The 'edit' on each track sticks to a more swing/groove beat (imo), which is common in most rare-groove/boogie mixes.

I love this cause it shows that the NEWS has always not been that good! We look back at the past and think it was so nice but it wasnt. The world is alot better today... it might not look like it but it really is. Even with Trump and Brexit.
Yeah, the politics voiceovers on top of the music really accentuated it too. Theatrical sounding to me as this was my parents generation and feels like a dream.
