    Fantastic. The look on her face took me back almost exactly 50 years ago when my dad bought the family a new ‘73 Airstream. Lots of fun ahead for your family.

      Oh, I love that!! Thank you for sharing that memory with us. We are so looking forward to all the memories we're going to create as well.

    The t-shirt in your thumbnail pulled me in. Lol. It's been a long time since I heard their music! Love the Airstream, and your daughter's reaction is priceless! Lots of fun ahead for sure.

      Yeah, they're awesome! I had to get the shirt because I thought it was funny that I was surrounded by a bunch of "elder emos" watching them play who listened to them in high school. Even though The Silence in Black and White came out long after I graduated HS. Lol.

    That is a great campsite. Just look at that view. You are going to finds stuff out about your camper as you travel in it. Either way, have fun with it and use it often. Best of luck, and thank you for sharing.

    Have fun,just an fyi, keep the brake wire attached to trailer. It is really light weight and can disapper. We wrap ours around frame until née to attach to touch again.

    • @pinkhathiker
      @pinkhathiker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the heads up on that! I will definitely start wrapping it around the frame.

    Looking forward to your pros/cons. We ordered our Airstream Caravel 22FB in April/May of this year...Hopefully its ready by Spring 2023...What are you pulling it with? And how does it handle? Thanks and Congrats!

    • @pinkhathiker

      Hey Pete! Congrats on your Airstream purchase as well. How exciting. I think you'll love it. Hoping to have that Pros/Cons video done soon. Just want to take it out one more time before making it so I'm sure to include everything. We just got back from a trip to Lone Pine, CA for the holidays.
      We're pulling with an F-150 and the Equal-i-zer® brand hitch. The hitch is amazing and makes the handling super smooth. We drove through some pretty gnarly winds and it wasn't a problem at all.

      Our Caravel is ready! Extended warranty person is pushing 'extended warranty" stuff...ehh....kevlar stuff in the tires...ceramic coating...What did you end up doing? Thanks!

    • @pinkhathiker
      @pinkhathiker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Congratulations!! That's so exciting. And if course, they're always going to try to upsell you. Our sales person was so chill. She asked what we intended to use it for (leisurely travel and boondocking), so she told us we didn't really need to do much. We upgraded the batteries for the solar and added a 3 inch lift. And we did the extended warranty (7 years) on the appliances just because if anything is going to go, it's going to be that. Everything else, we passed on because the sales rep basically told us it wasn't necessary.

    Don’t forget to repack your bearings every 3,000 miles!

      Someone just mentioned this to me and I had no idea about it! Thank you for the heads up :) It's appreciated.

      @@pinkhathiker - The “entry level” less expensive Airstreams don’t have never-lube hubs. If you’re lucky yours will have a Zerk, that’s a fitting that looks like a nipple you connect a grease gun to add grease to the bearings. If not, you’ll need to repack them which is WORK. Remove the wheel, then the bearing housing, grease them, reassemble and remount the tire, repeat for each wheel.

      Manual in Sport 22 calls for bearing repack every 10,000 miles or every 12 Months. It's not that big a deal. I won't be doing mine every year. I think every 10K or three years, whichever comes first will be more realistic for this only occasional camper.

      We had Airstream Los Angeles do this for us. And after the service was completed, one of the wheels came off; snapped the lugs clean (that's how my husband described it)!!

    Are you Excited? Are you Excited? Let me ask you one more time, are you excited?!

    • @pinkhathiker
      @pinkhathiker  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Lol. At the time, we were very excited. Unfortunately, we've seen some safety issues with the Caravel, so we're looking to possibly trade this in and upgrade to a model with 4 tires (instead of the 2 on the smaller trailers).

    Nice rig. What are you using for a row vehicle?

    • @pinkhathiker
      @pinkhathiker  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks John! We tow with a Ford F-150 Tremor. We typically drop the rig and then head out onto dirt trails with the truck. It's the best of both worlds! :)

      Tremor, 3.5 Ecoboost?

    How much you bought it

    • @pinkhathiker
      @pinkhathiker  ปีที่แล้ว

      The price depends on a lot of things, including location. But you can find the base prices for each model on the Airstream dealer's websites. :)

    I can think of better beach state parks than Carpinteria....sardine camping.

    • @pinkhathiker
      @pinkhathiker  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah, I'm sure there are. But we made the reservations VERY last minute (so it was all that was available along the entire SoCal coast) and made the best of it. Had a great time!!
