Heyyyyyyy y’all! I just wanted to say that I’ve been with my wife for 21 years and in the beginning our people had A LOT to say! We stood firm because we knew we were going to be together and we didn’t force our relationship on them but we also set boundaries and refused to allow them to disrespect us. Now…. My mom loves my wife and vice versa with her mom! Also I’m happy your channel popped up currently binge watching! New subbie here!
The only family members that mattered were my parents and my sisters. My sisters were always accepting. I’ve had to come out twice to both parents, 4 experiences total. My mom was more accepting than my dad. It was actually going on 10 years since I came out again to my (Nigerian) dad last year and the conversation didn’t go well . My mom passed the day before Easter this year and my girlfriend came with me to the funeral. Surprisingly he came up to my girlfriend and hugged her. He asks about her every time we talk and has said he would come to a wedding if it ever happened. We’ve come a long way. 😊

My sister and brothers didn’t take so well when I told them but when my other sister came out they accepted her, but it took some time eventually they came around. Love watching you guys!! My mom took it semi-hard in the beginning but she loves my fiancée. They bond over the fact that they are both nurses and are constantly talking. My mother in law lives in denial but she loves me to death and loves that we live together. I think her denial comes from her being older and from the south 🤷🏽♀️. If I don’t go back home with my fiancé when she visits her parents, the whole family wonders where I am and are always inviting me to things. Moms are always the hardest! Dads never make a fuss! Honestly when you’ve found your person you get to the place where no one else’s opinions matter and it’s like tunnel vision. They are still your family but true happiness and the family that you are building takes a front seat instead!!

My dad his mom & most of his side of the family didn't like it when i got with my gf but my mom side was VERY accepting my mom is deceased so idk wat she would've thought about it im sure she would've had something to say lol but after awhile i think her & my gf would've got along well.
