I think idea with “master Index” is really good. And because it’s in calendar view it will be much easier to find specific days (lists might be boring and easy to abandon in my experience).

I find it interesting, that as year is progressing you are gradually returning to things that worked at the end of 2023. Shame about all Hobonichi planners, because they are not cheap, but I am sure that as time goes on you will find the way to use them. Maybe not in next 2-3 months or even not in 2024. I sometimes find a notebook or planner that I used 2-3 years ago and just open fresh page and continue writing. As you said - our needs in terms of planning are changing, our life is changing, and eventually you needs will line up with Hobonichi structure

totally agree on the written index never working for me lol i love lists but idk why the written index just doesn't stick so i'm excited to see if the monthly version works better

I don’t know if you be interested in trying this, but I prefer planning on horizontal layouts as well- the cousin is perfect other than that (I enjoy the dated page per day and the size). I just change my weekly layout a little. I draw a line at 10 all the way across and use the given date areas as daily trackers (you mentioned you like that) then in the left side I draw six lines to make space for days and then use it like you do in the travelers insert. The right page is for a master task list and sticky notes. I came from using moleskine for a lot of years so it just feels better. It takes no time to do.
oooooh that's actually a pretty good idea! i hadn't considered it before 🤔 it's so helpful to hear how others use their journals/planners cause sometimes you can't come up with these solutions alone

hahaha sending you good vibes so you can get it done! techo kaigis are fun cause i love talking about the journals but there's definitely a sense of dread in making them. i always know i'm going to be talked out once i'm done 😅

how do you store your yearly TN notebooks?
it's my first year fully committed to the TN system so haven't done any archive yet, for now i'm just placing my used inserts on a shelf but I plan on getting some of the TN archive folders for the end of the year 🤩

As I enter quarter three I’m with three hobonichis 😂 it’s kinda the same as yours but in hobonichi. I love using the vertical week as an overview of worldly and community events like journal.as.altar. It’s nice because I can put in small articles I enjoy but also important things from my town to large events I’m processing .
