The chemistry conan has with his staff one of the several reasons he’s my favorite of the late night talk show hosts of his era
He has taken pay cuts on numerous occasions to support his staff during tough times, like the pandemic, and he is too modest and gentlemanly to brag about it, but i will never understand why his staff doesn't sing his praises. We hear about how Ellen hung her staff out to dry the moment the pandemic started. He's the anti-Ellen. I don't understand why more people don't celebrate that. Unless he's given them instructions not to?
I’m almost 42 and I’ve been faithfully watching Conan since I was 12. He’s always been my favorite and he’s my 20 year old daughters favorite because we always watched him together. Now Seth Meyers is emulating a lot of Conan’s characteristics and it’s endearing him to me now as well. He also brings his crew on the show for bits. People are very familiar with the names of his staff like they are/were with Conans. Seth even also paid out of his own pocket for his staff and crew’s salary during Covid when they were doing shows from home and NBC were not paying them cause obviously they all weren’t needed for home shows. Seth won’t discuss it when asked about it. He says it’s personal between his staff and he. He’s become my second favorite because of these things. His humor is different to Conans but he’s a good person and that endears me. He also brings his parents and brother (Josh Meyers) on too and they are hilarious!

@@kmsleyang1980 Seth seems like a really good and well-adjusted human being and I really enjoyed his drinking with guest series. Conan is still my number 1 because his humour, wit and idiocy really vibed with me.
We fell in love with Sona the first time we saw her in the "Conan talks to interns" skit... The way she just.. walked away was just so awesome cause that is not how that dynamic is suppose to go.
Lol she basically just said "haha I steal from you and use you, byeeee"
I watch that skit very often and every time i crack up😂 the way she says yeah i use your name and just walks away is perfect.

Just downloaded the audiobook and was even more delighted to learn that it’s read by Sona and the TV guy for whom she worked.

It is an unknown fact that Sona never recorded it. She reads the book out loud whenever she finishes it and it's her own speaking voice that reaches everyone's ears :)
After decades of dealing with fake, stuck-up people in the entertainment industry, Conan met Sona, and Sona is refreshingly real. I think Conan took notice to that, and blessed her with all the good things that come along with her position. Congrats Sona, I’ll buy a copy ✅
Too right. Conan has been doing his talk show gig since he was a kid, it’s always been his dream. He’s still that goofy kid he used to be he hasn’t changed. Conan and his staff are a prime example that there are some real down to earth people in an otherwise uptight industry. ^^

I went to meet Sona at her book signing near where I live and she's just as funny and genuine in real life as she is here. She really took the time to have a conversation with every person that went up to her.

It genuinely blows me away how humble and un-Hollywood of a person Conan is. Out of all of his bits, episodes, monologues, travel shows, etc. my favorite things have always been anything Conan does with his staff. There's so much comedy that can come from everyday people, it's much more relatable. I have always been a fan of Sona, I'm really looking forward to reading this book!

@@micanope Conan also knows that Sona, all joking aside, is genuinely good at her job and is a valuable employee. Sure, they make jokes about her goofing off and stuff, but she's able to do that not just because Conan is a great boss but because she still gets things done and does them well.

The fact that Conan saw all the true goodness that Sona has, says alot about Conan as a boss & as a person !!!!!
I like how Conan is always talking about the old sit-coms he used to watch as a kid and then he basically got the right people around him to make a real-life sit-com in his every day life because that's more important to him than the actual business.
Most books a personal assistant would write wouldn't be comedy, but more of the "tell-all" variety. Congrats, Sona!

I've been a fan of Conan since the 90s on late night. ....love that his relationship with Sona is so outstanding based completely on the fact that her boss is cool and she can be herself at work ....which for most of us is like a fairy tale.
I genuinely like Sona. I like the silly relationship with Conan. She's probably a person I'd be friends and laugh with.

Sona is wonderful but the subtle reveal that she's just been a decades-long bit that Conan has indulged in really explains everything. What a career to have!

Haha it's nice when the comedy curtain comes down for a minute and you just see the friendship and regard in a genuine way.
My advice to anyone who is looking for a job is to find a place where you can have a direct relation with the owner, not a supervisor or manager, those people look for their own interest and most likely they are going to take credit for your good ideas or blame you for their failures.
Conan was able to recognize talent like any good boss and made sure you had a chance to become better and seeing how many people were able to have careers after his shows is a sign that many of us could do better, sometimes is a matter of a mix of talent and luck.
Good advice. Middle management is the worst! Find a business owner that will show you the ropes and help you start your own business some day. Better to work for yourself than some talentless supervisor who puts down others, because they can't elevate themselves.
Sona and Conan’s relationship is the epitome of true best friends.
Loved Sona’s book! Listened to the audiobook so I missed the cartoons but got to hear Sona read it. Her very measured sarcastic tone kept me calm on a few rough plane rides.
I live in Argentina and I don't know how to get the book, but I'll make sure to get it somehow. Sona and Conan are awesome.

I’m more than half way through and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book. I have laughed out loud so many times. My husband is not a fan of the Podcast and he has picked the book up a few times off the coffee table and loves the comics! (Maybe he’ll start listening to the podcast)~ Thanks Sona! Conan has always been a great boss and helping out others. That's why I've been watching him since 1998
Conan likes genuine and honest people. Conan is a sharp observer of life, and that makes him a really good comedian and writer. That’s why he can laugh at some really crazy things that normal people can’t stand.

The book is fantastic. It’s funny and also endearing to read. The Sona/Conan stories are hilarious. But also really cool to read more about the more real relationship they have. Also interesting to read about Sona’s life prior to her time at Conan and bit of her insight on life in general. And the cartoons by Tak are also really great as well

moved to California a few months Conan retired from late night. started watching him when I was around 15. 1996ish. was very disappointed I didn't get to watch a live tapping.

To me, the idea of a PA is kind of weird because it seems in LA everyone has to have one. A writer who can barely make rent gets their first paying gig and suddenly they need an assistant.
