A girl in my neighborhood was told to do virginity test by her soon-to-be husband and his family before weeding. The result is "she is not virgin".His family believed it and her family too without trying to talk to her. People(girls/women) don't do such tests. It's always when a case has been lodged in a police(physical/sexual assault case or rape case). People ACTUALLY do the 'virginity test'??? I was shocked..
People(girls/women) don't do such tests. It's always when a case has been lodged in a police(physical/sexual assault case or rape case). The girl/woman is asked to go through a virginity test(if girl is minor, then they can even say No to the test but if 18 yrs/above then it's mandatory)
And yes only the hymen's presence determines the virginity
I'm saying all these because I too went through all these, it's a disguise trust me! I don't have hymen but I'm a virgin. I was physically assaulted. And when the gynaec found out that there's no hymen, I was slut shamed(by her assistant)(imagine this!!) And I literally cried like anything! The whole hospital floor saw me crying.
That's our patriarchal society, if a girl is assaulted, they check whether she's a virgin or not, if not(that too presence of hymen!!) it's assumed that she must be playing the victim card
And honestly I wasn't aware of all these. Like people of my age & younger are so smart to know all of these. Had I known about such things, I would've never gone through the test

When all these happens, falling into depression happens automatically, pushes you to think about ending your life, suicide seems to be the solution, traumatic experience in handling yourself..and after all these, when you still fight for yourself you'll be called with names..the simplest way is to avoid these people, stop talking to them completely, and stay positive and keep doing what you love and keep loving yourself, find a purpose to live, last but not the least, just follow your heart and chase your dreams. ❤️ Live, let live.
