  • Koudelka is a dark gothic RPG with a dab of magical realism developed by Sacnoth and published by SNK and Infrogrames for the Sony PlayStation between 1999 and 2000.
Set in a parallel version of our own world, Koudelka relies heavily on real world history, people and events (be they real or fabled) to depict a telling story that will have you invested from the moment you begin. Joining the protagonist, also named Koudelka, are Edward and James, two men cut from different cloth who, along with Koudelka are constantly at odds with each other. However will they get out of their predicament?
Styled similarly to Resident Evil or Silent Hill, with a large spoonful of JRPG, is this game worth your time? Check out the video, and find out.

I really enjoy the "stageplay atmosphere" in this game. The voice actors are amazing!

Interesting game, story and cutscene graphics. I was suprised at the quality of the dialogue. You made a great intro to the game and I always appreciate you pointing out your favourite music from the track. Thanks for your advice for playing this game!

Glad you enjoyed the review. It's definitely a game worth checking out if you're into the magical realism genre.

I really enjoyed this game, it's a particularly memorable rpg. The battle music is brilliant and very distinctive. I like the UK setting as well, it's unusual for any game to be set in the UK and if it is then it's nearly always London. Thanks for the video, I've watched several of your reviews now and enjoyed them. Looking forward to the next one.

Yeah, I missed this one when it first came out to Australia - for some reason, and picked it up later. The first time I played it I had no idea what I was doing and couldn't understand why I wasn't doing any damage to the enemy. Glad I figured it out this time. Haha. And definitely, the setting is one of this game's strongest points.
Thanks for watching! I'm glad to have you along.

Yeah, I really enjoyed the way that the characters moved. You can tell the developers really thought about the mannerisms of each of the characters, and put love into animating them in those ways. I really liked it.
3D prerendered background games usually still look good today, which is why I love them. They can have surprisingly a lot of detail in them, compared to full 3D environments.
      Thanks for watching!

@@Venoix The in-game cutscenes are actually mo-capped, which is why the characters have such expressive movement. Koudelka was really ahead of its time.

One of lesser known games, you should do the note

I've actually never heard of this game before, but it looks similar to Overblood, and by that I mean it certainly looks like a game I want to try. Thanks for the recommendation.
