Hope you get it sorted! It was a cold few weeks before I figured it out. Not fun at all.

To fix the EGR valve issue, unbolt the solenoid and clean it out with brake cleaner and a straw brush. Make sure the plug is good too of course.

Nice to see a shout out to fellow TH-camr XJ Jesse in California. Besides yourself, he is the only other TH-cam resource that covers the XJ40's in detail repairs. I'm subscribed to him aswell.

I think a lot of XJ40 owners are driving around with some warning lights lit! I had a check engine light on for a long time, with a "44" fault code. I jumped through hoops trying to diagnose what was up with the 02 sensor circuit! Turns out, the fault code was triggered by leaky injector seals! I hope this helps someone.

Pedro. Your fog lamps blow a fuse because they have the wrong rating bulbs in them. Get the correct ones and I'll bet $1000 your issue is solved. As long as they are the OEM lamps of course.

I rewired a couple chunky volvo sockets and bulbs into them and ive never had an electrical issue since. Which since jinxing it, 100% means the next time I try to start it the car will explode. 😂

I wacthed it !!! 😄 . very good info. I hav a clean 1990 xj6 52000 original mls. hav same prob. I lost the tiny screws as well. But found some similar ones to replace.. I want to get an another one make a dragster out of it.. I think it would hold well on the quarter with a strong Chevy engine.

Hi Pedro! Have you tried to find those small screws at Lowe's or HD? They have a separate metal tool box for metric bolts and nuts and special/hard to find stuff. How are your demister flaps working? The left side in my car is not closing perfectly causing fogging when I use the a/c. Gotta remove the dash (again)

I have the screws but getting clear access without dropping the screws is my issue ha.
I currently turn it manually and it works well.
It’s on the to do list for sure.
My blend flaps for the defrost are stuck open. I’ve sealed the openings so my AC hits me and not the screen. 🤣

Have 1991 XJ6. Where can i watch your video on reviewing this motor. I see the panel below ur dash looks a bit bent just below glove box door. Mine similar n screws missing in one of 2 slots closet to floor. Heat coming out near windshield n floor when defrost set. Not on vent. Cold comes out when set to cold in vent but little to nothing on rear vent in back of center console. Removal of grease in gear will fix?

Lyrics Guru App the center vents only blow air when you have the AC on, strange design. Heat comes out of the top side vents and floor. There are some vacuum activated flaps in the center that need a little help opening. I use a long stick to push them up and the air flows out. Unfortunately this is as good as it can get without dismantling the entire dashboard.

Pedro Matias : Did research n discovered that the reason there was limited air was cuz there was no AC belt. Lol. It was missing. Installed belt n 💥 air comes out of all vents. 👊🏻

Lyrics Guru App lol your AC belt wasn’t on the compressor?

Hey I just got an xj40 and the small vents work and blow pretty hard and warm but the center ones i can hear blowing but theres not much air coming out and it's a little warm, any idea what the issue might be, thanks for any help or insight you could provide

Awais Sultan Shaker : Oddly enough on its own, air started blowing out of the side as well as front vents. It seems as if I have to gradually increase the speed of the motor. Rather than rapidly switching from off to High. I increase more slow to each level until I get to High. Go figure. 🙄

    • @PedrosGarage
      @PedrosGarage  5 ปีที่แล้ว

Hey guys sorry for the late reply. The center vents don’t blow heat, they only open up with the AC on.
Another tip I closed off the defrost flaps using a sticky tape (it’s used for the floor board under the carpet, dealerships use them) I used that sticky material to seal off the defrost because mine are always blowing air through there. Sealing that off helped circulate more of the air to the other vents.
