If they have enough workforce, they can bring new characters virtually every month, while temporarily banning the characters who were considered broken by the community (currently Punisher, Hela, Star-Lord, the Magneto team up, etc.. All broken). Marvel has a infinite backlog, and they can copy a couple of moba abilities and adapt them to this game. Like mix Soldier with Ashe and you have Cyclops, that's it, no need of developing a Pixar wannabe from zero, Cyclops is pre-made
I hope they'll still get freedom to keep at their own creative pace though, I really like how so far they've been introducing parts of random corners of marvel, I'd rather have that over every Avenger or X-men in a row
I'm almost 100% sure the release schedule for maps and heroes is gonna completely dunk on OW2. We haven't even gotten the full release roster yet (39).
@@thetabo8648 I don't see a problem with that, honestly, these Marvel characters are mainstream for a reason, give me all of them. Saying that, most likely the "obscure" characters will be "strategists", there's no healers in the Marvel universe
@@RRRRRRRRR33 that's what I meant, I like that they're mixing the obscure with mainstream, like just now Jeff and Thor. I hope they keep doing it that way instead of shoving all the popular ones in first and then possibly getting wind taken from them cuz they ran out of popular characters to add
Imagine taking a healthy game like Overwatch and making all new maps one lane corridors with little flank routes, and removing good maps like Volskaya.
What's really interesting with Rivals is that the devs have said that they're not going to add Role Queue to the game. Instead, they're relying on the Team Up system to encourage certain team comps.
@@theSatoi'm almost reaching plat and i can say, up until now, everyone agrees to play 2 vanguards, 2 duelists and 2 strategists, and the team up mechanic is used very frequently
the thing is they remove the regen on HP for heroes and it encourage the teams to have a healer and balance the roles, and thats why it has different approach on the OW problem when it comes to roles. because the damage cap on every heroes on MR is bigger like you can atleast 3 shot people with a basick attack on dps and have some OP ULT that can 1 shot people. I think thats where their narrative going on also making the healers having strong heals while also slight dps, because support is the least role to pick among the 3
It felt like valorant beta in alot of ways. Fun gameplay and lots of fun with friends even though its competitive. But when you can only play 4 maps it gets repetitive
They are adding new maps from what we've seen in the leaks so that shouldn't be a problem once the game officially drops. Of course it won't be as big of a number as Overwatch maps but it's still a good step.
I feel like using the environment to block off point or create chokes is exactly what destructable environments should do. I like that a lot actually, rewarding tactical thinking
I also think it’s a great interaction but it needs to be tuned a bit to be more tactical. Environments break from just about anything so they end up getting accidentally leveled all the time before you can even think of using them strategically. Also, that blockades example should have allowed the enemy to break through it with damage. It’ll still cost them time but it’s better than waiting for it to despawn
This game is amazing for what it already has. It has custom games, a replay viewer, ranked mode and a ping system and its not even out of beta. Overwatch 1 had none of that on release. And didn't get some of that stuff until years later. They are already ahead of what overwatch 1 was on release.
Well overwatch didn't really know what it was at first, and had to slowly crawl into becoming overwatch This game gets to run right out the gate, "let's be like overwatch"
@@xDjembex you think overwatch came up with any of those features either? They looked at other games too. Other games had all that stuff too. Why did it take overwatch so long to put them in. Valorant still doesn't have a replay system and the community is begging them for it. I remember when apex legends came out people were asking for a ping system in overwatch because of that game. Custom games are in all old pc games. And tons of games had ranked systems before overwatch. And league of legends had a replay viewer.
@@troy1993 Im just saying it's irrelevant where it matters. Those are just quality of life niceties. They will not be responsible for whether the game survives or not.
Blizzard is unmatched in polish. People have started to take it for granted. I literally cant stand most other games purely from the janky movement and unresponsive inputs.
Overwatch has zero inertia on directional changes in movement. When I play other games after overwatch, they feel unresponsive and clunky. While overwatch's movement feels really fluid, it opens the door to strafe spamming and makes aim/ tracking particularly difficult/ frustrating as your movement throws off your aim if you aren't properly counteracting it. This is one of the main reasons we got the bullet hitbox buffs. overwatch's style of movement and aim is good for high ttk and skill expression, but isn't very noob friendly. I personally like it, but understand why a wide appeal marvel game wouldn't go down that road.
I think comparing the amount of maps doesnt make too make sense. Ow2 is a fully released game while this is just a beta, and even in the beta this game imo is just better and is just more fun. I do think it can get boring to only play a few maps over and over, but again it is a beta and not a full game.
I think comparimg to Ow2 is not really fair but you can absolutely compare it Ow1. Correct me if im wrong but when Ow1 was in beta they had 4 game modes which was KOTH, Escort, 2CP, and Hybrid. You had at least 4 different game modes. The main thing to look at in Marvel Rivals is long term. How well do you think the game will do once all the hype dies down. Right now its fun but lets wait until there are meta characters and throw characters established. Hopefully it doesnt happen but games like this fuel meta characters types.
The map argument is just dumb, but in the end, I think one solid argument to exemplify the potential of Marvel Rivals is how they solved the "resurrection" problem, also the immortality gimmick... It's shocking how Adam Warlock is balanced, even to this day Overwatch was not able to solve the problem with Mercy and Baptiste (then here it comes Kiriko adding even worse abilities), at day 0 Marvel Rivals offered a classy solution. I will not be surprised if Rivals presents a character who can one shot and deliver burst damage and it will be balanced somehow (maybe that will be Juggernaut), meanwhile Doomfist will just cry in the corner
@fastfang1229 counterpoint, Marvel Rivals already has more characters than OW1 had at release and as far as Maps, CS:GO was played for YEARS with realistically a 3 map rotation and essentially 1 game mode
7:21 her ult is good at stalling points by putting down mines everywhere, it can also be used defensively to create a minefield that is difficult for enemies to cross. The only downside is that you’re locked out of using your web, so you’re cooked if a Spider-Man or witch ults at the same time
@@olivergames7783 have you tried using it how it’s supposed to be used or did you just rush into the enemy team like a freight train and get stunned to death
People need to shut up with the term “overwatch killer”. That being said, I absolutely love this game and the way it feels, all of my friends have been playing this exclusively instead of overwatch for a while. If they don’t somehow drop the ball or monetize it to hell, this could be the game to finally give Overwatch some much needed competition. Overwatch devs care about making the game better, we just need blizzard to realize they can’t rake their players for money as they please.
@@willkershisnik5893 i mean, it LITERALLY is dead now. Has been for a while actually. I'm just saying that there's no good reason as to why OW1 and 2 couldn't co-exist as two seperate things 🤷♀️
It looks fun and if they continue to support it I think it can give blizzard a kick in the nuts they've been needing. If they start putting more effort into the maps I think it could be nice competition and I believe it's healthier when games have real competitors
2:40 rivals is making genji players realize how bad they haven’t 😢 I actually feel like I can play well and it matters, in ow a lot of times it feels like I have to play genji significantly better than my opponents to get value, and even expecting plays perfectly still doesn’t result in kills a lot of times
Peni's ult is awesome! I've clutched many a win by popping her ult and knocking the enemy team away from the cart! Got to almost Top 500 with her in the Alpha and closing in to do the same in the Beta!
What i liked about this game is the 6v6 format and the fact that as a dps you can fucking kill the tanks 1v1 if you put enough effort in it, despite it being an unfair fight for you, the state of overwatch right now is ridiculous with the immortal raid boss tanks, it ruined everything and this game was a good refresh for my head.
1v1 killing tank as a DPS in Marvel Rivals? I have only around 10 hours in this game but I honestly find that too generous of a statement lol. The tanks in its current state in Beta testing, are legit tanks lol. You can only 1v1 tank if you use ult, and this is only true for a few specific characters. 😅
@@iansia93 i just had a game where i went 58/7 on Starlord and killed the enemy tanks multiple times, i feel like dps matters there, unlike Overwatch currently
I seriously doubt Marvel Rivals will ever be a competitor of Overwatch, but rather a “child”. A game that looks at Overwatch and thinks “Hm, I wonder how we could do this” and I think that’s okay. There are some games I know of that take a pre-established concept and do their own thing with it, like WWZ: Aftermath with Left 4 Dead’s concept. They’re not taking over the world but they’re doing okay. As long as they know what they’re doing and don’t continuously and consistently shoot themselves in the foot, then I’m sure Marvel Rivals will be just fine.
I would’ve said this in 2018 for OW1. But now, Overwatch is definitely going to be competing with Marvel Rivals. Just shows the complacency by Overwatch devs and blizzard in general
I think it's funny how Overwatch players can be so delusional lol Overwatch is in a fragile state competing with a literal giant and you think Overwatch has enough appeal to secure a lead? Hell, Wolverine alone has more charisma than the entire Overwatch roster combined, but hey, this Marvel game will be the "little son" lol The selective memory is also amusing, the Blizzard moba game, Heroes of the Storm if I'm not mistaken, it had a bunch of Overwatch characters in it, the game fluked anyway, entered on maintenance mode. If Overwatch remains in this limbo, it will also enter on maintenance sooner or later, Overwatch is killing itself, Marvel will just speed up the process
@@Bry1an It's ironic because the MCU just announced they are going to force Dr Doom as the next villain, here it comes the story trailer of Marvel Rivals and it already reached 2 million views and counting. Again, it's straight up delusional to think Overwatch has more marketing appeal than freaking Marvel comics. Look how Marvel Snap took over, no one cares or talks about Hearthstone anymore and Warcraft is significantly more popular than Overwatch as a piece of mainstream media, but they are competing against Deadpool, Wolverine and other hugely popular characters while the movie is being promoted nonstop, just broke the box office record for a "mature" movie, almost 500 million on its first weekend or something like that. Marvel is on a whole nother level, only DC can realistically compete
bigger problem with destructible terrain imo is that when it starts to repair, it becomes intangible during the repair so if youre standing on a bridge that has a little part of it destroyed, you might randomly fall through it bc it decided to start repairing (was really bad for punisher bc it instantly takes him out of turret too) ALSO theres performance/framerate issues with destructible terrain, but ive only experienced them when a lot of terrain is broken at once (like when storm ult goes through the big house on the second point on the spider-zero escort map). also dr strange portal (as technically impressive as it is) wreaks havoc on my pc in a way overwatch never did)
@@bazzfromthebackground3696 yep ive lost fights where im on the high ground on the yggdrasil escord map's second point on defense, and suddenly it starts repairing and now im on ground level and just die forced into bad positioning by crappy game mechanics
the key thing is horrendous. last night it was gone in literal seconds. literally within 30 seconds of the keys being refreshed, they were gone. LITERAL SECONDS.
Most matches feel very one-sided and stompy in quick play, much more than even Overwatch. Maybe because its still early on, but some games no one dies and its just a standstill and nothing happens, then others its a one-sided stomp either way. In the 5-6 hours I've played there's only been a handful of games where I've felt either side could have won.
Having competition is good because it offers players perspective. Definitely appreciate marvel rivals queue times and the characters are just FUN. The mix of melee, shooters, fliers, team syncs. However I definitely appreciate the work OW put into balance. Scarlet witch being a Moira with two fades and a Dva bomb, hitscan Hela with a targeted pharah missiles, two supports with transcendence-like ults that can also damage boost. Ult charge time is crazy too. Idk maybe I need more time to understand the little details in MR like I do in OW but so far I feel like OW is a lot more balanced while MR focuses on fun and team play
I would think 4 maps isn't in the final build. If it is. Then they can Definitely keep it fresh by dropping new maps each season. The playing character with another to get abilities. Takes away you coming up with your comp. And pretty much already tells you who are the best to play together. I think one of the things in Overwatch is figuring out things. Finding the best synergy by yourself.
I think of Hela as the Ash and Namor is like Widow/Hanzo sniper. Hela's damage falls off sooner than Namor, and you can actually duel her from outside her range.
The team ups are and awesome mechanic, but the ones that require a teammate to activate the ability for you can be frustrating if they either don't know about the team up, or how to use the ability of the team up. Playing on Punisher and your friendly Rocket never lays down their kit to give you faster firing and infinite ammo? Super frustrating, especially when it could literally turn the tide of a fight. Also feels like if you don't synergize with the team and make use of the team ups, like everyone picks characters who don't team with one another, you're leaving a lot of kit on the table. I also feel that UI elements could be larger and less obscured, like the kill feed can be hard to read due to how small it is and the entries are black with blue or red text, though your kills that come through in white are much easier to read. Also hope they add sound effects for when your team gets elims or your teammates are eliminated. I've become so used to that feature in Overwatch to know if my team has been wiped, and it's no fun to go for something like a Scarlet Witch ult and I didn't realize my team was dead so my supports weren't there to try and keep me up through the windup. The game has a ton of promise, though, but I agree it's unlikely to pull me away from Overwatch 2, and I say that as someone who hasn't touched OW2 since this beta started (almost done with the BP, and this beta is time limited and I want that Cyan Venom skin). I think there's space for both games, and I'm sure for some it's already won them over compared to others, but yeah, personally I still really like OW2 because it scratches certain itches. Maybe with some tweaking (faster gameplay) that could change.
I enjoy the maps, i like how theres a shorter distance to reach the fight compared to overwatch maps that take so god damn long to get back into the game. its way more fast paced and feels less punishing.
One of the things I’m most excited about for this game is the hero releases. Because it is working off of an already established Universe, they will only release characters that have already been made and exist in the marvel IP, unlike Overwatch where you have no idea what’s going to come next because they make shit as they go. Guessing what hero will come next may get on the same hype level as the smash bros announcements, and that has me hoping this game goes well. Out of the leaked characters they are going to add, I hope Moon Knight is sooner rather than later, I would probably main him to be honest.
The one thing I don't like about the team-ups is that they are one-sided; one player gets to take advantage of it and the other doesn't. I'm not saying that's always a bad thing, but it would have been nice if Iron Man got a little damage buff on his beam attacks from Hulk and Hulk maybe got a button that equips some of Tony's nano tech to give him a little damage reduction for a few seconds or something. Overall, I do like the team up system, though.
I really hope this game takes the player base from ow2. Ow2 devs have really just messed up the game almost beyond repair and they need to get checked and be shown its not ok to ruin the game so many people love.
I think you underestimate the power of a popular IP like marvel. Im a big fighting game fan and we had a sinilar thing when dragon ball fighterz came on the scene. Tag fighters were always second class compared to marvel vs capcom. MvCI came and people were very dissapointed and capcom was clearly banking on the fact they thought no one could dethrone them and they delivered a sub par game. Dbfz came on the scene and destroyed all the sales record for fighting games. Badically overwatch is Marvel vs capcom and marvel is dbfz, do not think overwatch cant be dethroned, gamers dont care, and the appeal of a "marvel overwatch" is very appealing, marvel has a huge fanbase.
It is early, but that's why I think this is so exciting. Because the game in this early state is good. I keep having to remember it is in beta. The marvel characters are more than enough for me to play a lot though.
I have had way more fun with this beta than i've ever had with OW2, this game is gonna be the best hero shooter out there, i really love all the roles, Vanguards are tanky and fun, Duelists are damagey and fun, supports are healy, buffy and fun, and each character is also fun in their own right, the game also looks so good, there's so much detail, Thor's and Wanda's hair look beautiful, the designs and effects are awesome, the animations are smooth, everything looks like it has so much passion put into it
I think if marvel rivals releases like 10+ more characters on release then overwatch is in trouble. If rivals keeps the roster small and does hero releases every three or so months then I think it wont do as well. The fun part is playing all the heroes that we grew up with and the diversity that each hero brings. Hopefully marvel rivals puts out a bunch of maps and tons of heroes/villains on release. This game is going to be pulling a lot of overwatch players regardless.
late to this comment but the alpha was datamined and it was found that on release the game is potentially going to have 39 characters in its roster, and I imagine the 40th will be added after the first or second season (probably will be Doom)
As much fun as the game can be I do feel that it made me appreciate how much I took for granted the sound design, visual design and responsiveness that Overwatch, in my opinion, consistently puts out. Alot of the attacks don't feel like they have a lot of weight to them (though thats fixable) and alot of the "movement" heavy kits are incredible unintuitive to me. A lot of potential, hope its good and either gets good enough to be a proper competitor or pushes Overwatch to be a better game.
I agree. Characters are fun. Not enough maps for variation. Some characters are stronger than others. If they do another beta test I'd like to see more maps. I hope that map destruction will disappear faster if a player is trapped by rubble. Can't tell you how many times I've missed a kill by random rubble falling between me and my target.
it's a new shiny toy similar to how overwatch was in 2016. A refreshing new perspective on something familiar. Just like overwatch all the problems can be ignored and tolerated because of how much fun you have learning this new thing. but with time same as overwatch people will become familiar with the good and the bad and jank will creep up and become harder to ignore until it becomes very frustrating for many people who have learned the game and dealing with the others who did the same where we get to ''this needs to be nerfed, this is too broken'' ''let's talk about the marvel rivals problem'' videos start popping up. then the game and devs will be truly tested if this sticks around for awhile or fizzles out. I can't wait to play it personally.
I feel like the same thing can be applied to Smash Bros., how there are many similar games that came after or around it, but none can truly dethrone the king. The only thing that can put it under is itself. And what I mean by "itself" is the company it's under (in this case Blizzard and Nintendo). The only thing that's keeping this game afloat is its community, which I think in my opinion is a close-knit, smaller community compared to others. On a similar note, I'd love to see more grassroots tournaments in the future.
I agree that QoL updates should be the biggest focus for Marvel Rivals. Certain inputs and interactions were clunky and sometimes non-responsive, and it just didn't feel good in those moments.
On that day the keys were not gone in one minute, but the captcha system was implemented incorrectly. I claimed my steam key 50 minutes in with a little code gimmicking.
Complains about there only being 4 maps in a Beta... Overwatch 2 had only 5 maps for Control and 5 maps for Escort. So, unless you play both modes you only ever saw 5 maps. Not much of a differences there. Gotten many 50 kill games with Peni as her mines are stupidly strong if you do them correctly.
everyone has an opinion, but my money is rivals will do way better then ov, and make players play more rivals instead of ov. The game has less baggage and has 6v6
I've been having a lot of fun in the beta, since both of the characters that used to be my favourite mcu charas are there aswell that makes it even more attractive for me, my main thing I'm scared about isn't the game itself right now, because I trust that they will continue improving until release, BUT I'm genuinely scared that because it's a marvel game, aka affiliated as Disney, if it gets too popular I'm afraid they'll straight up attempt to buy it and run it into the ground or something like that
On top of the environment stuff I’ve found it hard to see through the green light of the structures forming. So I’d get attack by someone on the other side of it when I didn’t even know there were there
I love this game more than i thought i would. Im a tank main in overwatch but Im thinking about being a support main in marvel rivals, i just LOVE jeff the land shark!!!
My opinion about the game is that it is a really good and fun game. But people saying it's the overwatch killer are, imo, mindless drones just because of how monetization it became. Mind you that, at least on console, you had to pay for overwatch, and they switched it to being free to play on overwatch 2 so everyone can play it. Now, if your issue with the game is balancing issues, then i can understand, but that'll always be worked on to hopefully give people a better enjoyable experience. But every post that overwatch does it always has the same comments about "oh this gonna cost a arm and a leg to get" or "damn i might as well buy a tesla if they charging these prices" these are the ones that want overwatch to die the most just because of something that does nothing with gameplay. It's basically the same way how it was for Apex when everyone was gonna quit because of something that doesn't help you out in the game.
It’s fair because things like the poolside Ashe bundle my friend bought for 20 dollars while my other friend got it all for free through loot boxes. They stopped supporting the game to make game number 2 to then come out and say” we’re not making number 2 but now you have to pay for skins” and yea they didn’t charge you for overwatch 2 because there wasn’t anything to pay for. There’s no PvE to warrant a cost. Overwatch literally updated to overwatch 2 on my console no redownload needed so yes people are gonna clown everything overwatch. it’s not to do with gameplay but things like monitezation is what they are worried about more than game design. What you not gettin bruh they gave us the same game and make cosmetics more expensive and the gameplay less dynamic it’s a huge L. Ion think rivals kills overwatch but I hope overwatch get what it deserves
@@Bigzoe202Gaming your point was hella ass tho fr half the shit had nun to do wit the video you brung up overwatch change of cost for no reason and said that people who talk about the monetization want the game to die when that’s cap asl you said a whole bunch of nun fr.
@Eezylon the video was about an overwatch 2 players' perspective of the game. I gave my perspective of said game and gave a reason as to why I have that perspective. I certainly said a lot if you responded with a whole lot of words when you first replied to me. Once again proving my point.
I am an OW2 player, but I understand where a lot of OW1 players are coming from since they paid for a game that pretty much no longer exists. Now it is free to play, but they lost access to a lot of things they did pay for when OW1 existed, just to move to a model where OW heavily prices skins and customization options to make money, when a lot of those players from OW1 already paid to have access to a game in which many of the promises made weren't kept.
Imo they need to make destructive sections stay destroyed for the whole round. The whole reforming aspect is junk because there is no visual timer and it is annoying to play around. If anything if they remove the destruction reset timer, it opens the door for other ways to repair structures like hero abilities or map interactions; like they gave us a button to talk to npc in the world but it is useless from a gameplay standpoint.
I got 2 drops, one for myself and one for my friend on xbox so we could play, and then after he got to level 6, he got a code, allowing his brother, another one of my friends, to get the game, and once he hit level 6, he got a code, and gave it to another one of my friends, and then when he got to level 6.... you know. I gave my pc code to another friend. The problem with the code is based on chance, so obviously it can get scrapped, but for me, it all worked out super well, and I really think if there wasn't a bot problem, it would be great. Some characters need small changes, like Magik needs a cooldown nerf on the portals, and all of my friend just don't understand why she isn't dying, mostly because of her insane over heal. Hela needs a dramatic amount of fall off or dropping overall damage a good amount, cause a single shot takes most character down to half heal and can allow her to 1v1 even tanks. Some of the other melee characters, mostly the ones that are tanks should get slight alterations, but not so much that it breaks the game, like Thor and Hulk should do more damage per hit, but increase ult cost to balance that out. Also Thor should NOT have global cooldowns on his abilities. Jeff the shark should have a better passive, cause he still just pops even in the backline. Punisher should get an ult charge nerf to balance out how powerful it is. Some of the cast times on ults need to be slightly longer like with storm I don't want the power of ults to be nerfed, cause I feel they should be game changing, team killing or team saving.(hopefully they never make immortalities in this game) The amount of damage in the game is pretty nutty, but with the amount of shields and mitigation, I feel like its justifiable. Same with the healing numbers, cause like on average, you will get over 15k healing and damage in a somewhat even match. with some people getting like 40k mitigation in one game. The 6v6 open que feels like the best thing, I understand goats were a problem in overwatch, but in this game, since damage is constantly flying, a 1-3-2 or a 1-2-3 format is actually much better then having 3-0-3 or 2-1-3. Also, the amount of CC is not as nearly annoying as the ones in overwatch. The only really annoying one rn is Scarlet Witches being able to stun you like 3 times if she places it right on top of you Overall, good game, something I have fun with more then overwatch, and surprisingly no monetization yet even though they very well could of, much like Multiversus. I hope it prospers and becomes the rival Overwatch has need for the last year
Marvel Rivals has a good chance of taking over as the main game. Beta gonna have limited maps and characters. Full game we will see how many maps there will be
7:22 Peni's ult is amazing for freeing up the payload or point when pushing/defending imo. You web the area, mine the area/point to make sure the opposing team can't get on to touch and if they do they'll get mined or chip damage from swipes. It's not an offensive ult by any means and could be better. But, you can pop it and play fantastic defense with it to close out a map or try and extend a map. Which is really what Peni is, a more backline, sometimes web into the the front, defender.
Yeah I've seen a lot of people complaining about Peni's ult not being able to kill people when I'm pretty sure it's meant to be area denial and not necessarily a murder button
Yeah Lot people don't understand it so many people are just using the melee attack and try to kill don't drop a single mine and don't make use that it works very well with the spider nest
why do ppl think marvel rivals isnt gonna destroy overwatch? overwatch has been on its last leg for years now and ppl only play it because theres no alternative (sorry paladins). marvel rivals is still in closed beta and its already really fun and polished, we’ll get more characters and maps by the time it releases which will only increase the hype.
i think even if this game never becomes bigger than overwatch or overwatch gets really big again. it will still be fine because id argue the primary audience for this game is pretty casual gamer marvel fans rather than competative hero shooter fans. ive never played overwatch or valorant. i played tf2 and cs with friends in highschool, but the reason im playing this is cause its marvel characters. and there has not been any other game where you can play as some of these characters. so i dont think this game will die on release like some peole are saying, even if no overwatch players come to play it.
Overwatch killed itself, that's why games like Rivals and the ps5 one and the ubisoft one are all coming out, because ow2 fired the people who made the game and the new devs suck so bad.
Maps count/QoL/hero tuning - while it is good to mention, it is unfair to compare that to OW ( a game that's been out for 13 years and a BETA ). Beta access - it is an access to the CLOSED beta - so tough shit if u didn't get in ( now I agree the system was done horribly, if they wanted to keep the low number of accesses they could have done that everyone can submit token, but people are chosen randomly at refreshes and email the key instead of first come - first serve ), anyhow that has nothing to do with the game.
accidentally clicked "Enter" without finishing haha. Well logic wise - if you sleep on the cart, I dont see why enemy team shouldnt be able to push it xD you snooze - you lose xD Breaking environment - while I can agree getting stuck and not making to the point because of that can be a feelsbad moment, BUT thats the point I feel. Unexpected things happen and you just need to be extra aware of your surroundings, also as people play more and learn more I doubt it will be such a huge problem
On the ps5 this game is fun as fuck i was having a blast! I thought it would feel jank but at least for me it was smoother than expected and responsive. Plus this game has style 👌 reminds me of how i got into marvel as a kid with Marvel vs Capcom 2, just a good hectic badass game with cool marvel characters!
0.0 Didn't know it was this difficult to get a key. Got mine at the beginning of emongg drops. The slide check I get, it was pain. Tried like 20 times, but got mine.
this game doesnt need to be the ow killer cause overwatch sucks, the real overwatch killer was blizzard and their timelines and false promises. At this point I dont even wanna be mean but they were also incompetent balance wise for pretty much all of ow2. There has been 0 nuance to gameplay since 2 dropped there is a couple hard meta heroes and then theres everything else. It wasnt that way in ow1 and it isnt that way in rivals. Thats the feeling I want back feeling like what i do really makes an impact instead of my character just deciding games for me.
the way they decided to give out keys is awful, im in europe and 2 nights in a row i waited until 2am only for website to crash and keys to be immediately gone when it came back up. getting tickets for bts concert is easier than this. so i just decided to give up and wait for release. :/
In all honestly, I think something as simple as making the default global movement speed faster can bring the game significantly closer to an overwatch "killer". That is easily the worst thing about the game. Default movement feels like you're moving through mud. Increasing it will would make everything feel 10x better imo. Make mantis's passive speed boost the default.
so many doomers in the comments. "just wait THIS time OW will die." last week meanwhile people were loving juno. some of yall truly must have goldfish level memories. marvel rivals is really closer to smite than OW and if your issue with OW is monetization this game will not be much better itll probably be worse. i like both games but rivals has balancing issues and character design that alarm me already. i dont think rivals long term is gonna be a great game competitively.
it cant beat overwatch if it isn't competitive. i think rivals will be a very fun casual experience, but if you want a comp hero shooter you wont play rivals.
@@ironman1458with a peak daily player of about 46k players on steam alone.. Sorry to brake it to you brother but in the gaming industry that's not being dead, I know you want OW to die so bad maybe in a few years but not today

The true Overwatch killer is PvZ Garden Warefare, everyone knows 12 vs 12 is the best format
yes I wish it was alive but still it was the killer of ow for me imo I had way too much fun playing that game
This game just from watching videos looks a lot more like that kind of game than overwatch.
It's good to see pvz:gw fans like me this days

@oSw1ftzz Val is way too competitive, this definitely would appeal to more casual audiences
@@lancethedecayedguardian2719 yeah I’m way too intimidated to play Val plus I don’t like the csgo vide from Val

Paladins better
Marvel Rivals could be really good if they keep updating it with new characters / maps and more balancing. This game has a promising future.
Im happy that most of the problems youve described flats can be fixed by the time the game fully releases, a little time and this can be a great game
I feel like any dev spending the time to do multiple public tests is already on the right track for a healthy game on release.
Tanking in rivals makes OW tanking feel even worse, I've felt utter despair
Havent played magneto with a scarlet witch then
Imagine taking a healthy game like Overwatch and making all new maps one lane corridors with little flank routes, and removing good maps like Volskaya.
What's really interesting with Rivals is that the devs have said that they're not going to add Role Queue to the game. Instead, they're relying on the Team Up system to encourage certain team comps.
We'll see how that goes. It sounds nice in theorycraft land but in practice they may go "oh" and end up doing role queue later on anyway.
@@theSatoi'm almost reaching plat and i can say, up until now, everyone agrees to play 2 vanguards, 2 duelists and 2 strategists, and the team up mechanic is used very frequently
We already saw how it works because overwatch 1 with less regulations has higher user scores than ow2. @theSato
the thing is they remove the regen on HP for heroes and it encourage the teams to have a healer and balance the roles, and thats why it has different approach on the OW problem when it comes to roles. because the damage cap on every heroes on MR is bigger like you can atleast 3 shot people with a basick attack on dps and have some OP ULT that can 1 shot people. I think thats where their narrative going on also making the healers having strong heals while also slight dps, because support is the least role to pick among the 3
@@funnyskeletonwithahoodie in that case, better to just put on role queue to avoid trolls, since it won't make difference for normal games
@@yansantiago8309 yeah, like even now val only added i think 2 more maps but that already shook up the gameplay and made it more fun
@@therickeffect7466They have at least 8 maps now, probably more but I forgot the newer ones
4 maps is reasonable amount as it's a beta. Valorant adds 2 map per year, maps repetition is definitely not the main issue of valo
@@Abbasi-mu4pgI think the map design is more egregious than the amount of maps in Valo
Some collision issues, getting stuck on debris after it collapses because the original boxes are still there.
This game is amazing for what it already has. It has custom games, a replay viewer, ranked mode and a ping system and its not even out of beta. Overwatch 1 had none of that on release. And didn't get some of that stuff until years later. They are already ahead of what overwatch 1 was on release.
Well overwatch didn't really know what it was at first, and had to slowly crawl into becoming overwatch
This game gets to run right out the gate, "let's be like overwatch"

@@xDjembex you think overwatch came up with any of those features either? They looked at other games too. Other games had all that stuff too. Why did it take overwatch so long to put them in. Valorant still doesn't have a replay system and the community is begging them for it. I remember when apex legends came out people were asking for a ping system in overwatch because of that game. Makes me appreciate how fluid and clean overwatch feels
Blizzard is unmatched in polish. People have started to take it for granted. I literally cant stand most other games purely from the janky movement and unresponsive inputs.
@@Yehoshua66 and best part? Its all in your head 🤣🤣🤣. OW till☠☠☠ for some I guess.
@@TapiKoks no i very much enjoy diablo 2 and I’ve replaying it lately… that game is over 20 years old and its still a clean cut. My point stands.
It’s a closed beta
Hopefully it doesnt happen but games like this fuel meta characters types.
yet Concord's beta had 12 maps
@@FlareToga76 It is also concord
@fastfang1229 counterpoint, Marvel Rivals already has more characters than OW1 had at release and as far as Maps, CS:GO was played for YEARS with realistically a 3 map rotation and essentially 1 game mode
the enviorment blocking ppl is awesome this adds some cool tech. should be easier to break when it hits the ground after tho.

Storm is an absolute blast with Thor’s team up skill. An extra lightning bolt makes her so strong.
@@RIP_ZYZZ1738 yeah this game is getting promoted by main marvel movies its not going to die

Rivals is really fun imo, hope it succeeds
blud is mad that someone made a good hero shooter
Its a solid entry, its rough, but its full of potential. Cant wait to see where it goes tbh
bigger problem with destructible terrain imo is that when it starts to repair, it becomes intangible during the repair
so if youre standing on a bridge that has a little part of it destroyed, you might randomly fall through it bc it decided to start repairing
(was really bad for punisher bc it instantly takes him out of turret too)
ALSO theres performance/framerate issues with destructible terrain, but ive only experienced them when a lot of terrain is broken at once (like when storm ult goes through the big house on the second point on the spider-zero escort map). also dr strange portal (as technically impressive as it is) wreaks havoc on my pc in a way overwatch never did)
Yeah it should be tangible while repairing. Falling into/through shit can be annoying.

Been having a lot of fun with it so far. I’ve been burnt out of overwatch for a while, so it’s been a fun game to add in the rotation.
Finding the best synergy by yourself.
is she the cassady in the training range equivalent?
the primary looks like kiri's kunais to me
She is exactly that actually
no hela is essentially a mix of widow and ash with a dash. hela is a sniper and shes one of the best characters easily.
I think of Hela as the Ash and Namor is like Widow/Hanzo sniper.
Hela's damage falls off sooner than Namor, and you can actually duel her from outside her range.
You can't kill something that's already dead
Honestly, I can't wait to jump to Rivals
It's the ow killer for me. Fuck ow
Ow is already killing itself 💀
I really hope this game takes the player base from ow2. Ow2 devs have really just messed up the game almost beyond repair and they need to get checked and be shown its not ok to ruin the game so many people love.
I'm convinced blizzard came out and said they are gonna try 6v6, only because marvel rivals has been very successful
Him just sitting in the training area and never jumping down or leaving the hallway is driving me insane.
They released 2 new heroes just a few days after releasing 2 heroes
leaks/rumors have like 10-15 more characters getting ready to be added
late to this comment but the alpha was datamined and it was found that on release the game is potentially going to have 39 characters in its roster, and I imagine the 40th will be added after the first or second season (probably will be Doom)
Black Panther also got giga buffed from the alpha to the beta.
Ndeysay
Lol it can't be worse than the gameplay, maps, and balance of overwatch 2.
After playing the beta, will be uninstalling overwatch when this game releases
I feel like the same thing can be applied to Smash Bros., how there are many similar games that came after or around it, but none can truly dethrone the king. The only thing that can put it under is itself. And what I mean by "itself" is the company it's under (in this case Blizzard and Nintendo). The only thing that's keeping this game afloat is its community, which I think in my opinion is a close-knit, smaller community compared to others.
On a similar note, I'd love to see more grassroots tournaments in the future.
Tbf, you’d have to compare Marvel Rivals beta to OW beta
No you dont... the fact that this beta is better than full blown mature ow 2 just makes it even sadder
I agree that QoL updates should be the biggest focus for Marvel Rivals. Certain inputs and interactions were clunky and sometimes non-responsive, and it just didn't feel good in those moments.
talking about map variety in a beta is insane
Is it? They showcased the same maps in both tests, one might think they would add or at least switch one.
Not when there are 3 maps
On that day the keys were not gone in one minute, but the captcha system was implemented incorrectly.
I claimed my steam key 50 minutes in with a little code gimmicking.
Hopefully they do an open beta to test load.
@@Eezylon you wrote all of this just to prove my point.
Some of the cast times on ults need to be slightly longer like with storm
I don't want the power of ults to be nerfed, cause I feel they should be game changing, team killing or team saving.(hopefully they never make immortalities in this game)
The amount of damage in the game is pretty nutty, but with the amount of shields and mitigation, I feel like its justifiable.
The only really annoying one rn is Scarlet Witches being able to stun you like 3 times if she places it right on top of you
Overall, good game, something I have fun with more then overwatch, and surprisingly no monetization yet even though they very well could of, much like Multiversus.
I hope it prospers and becomes the rival Overwatch has need for the last year
Having so much us fun in MR but we se OW2 need to get their asses togheter
You may not think its an overwatch killer, but its killed overwatch for me.
No the thing people complain about is it makes you a big target that everyone focuses if theyre smart.
why do ppl think marvel rivals isnt gonna destroy overwatch? overwatch has been on its last leg for years now and ppl only play it because theres no alternative (sorry paladins). marvel rivals is still in closed beta and its already really fun and polished, we’ll get more characters and maps by the time it releases which will only increase the hype.
say it with me, DEADLOCK is the OW KILLER
i think even if this game never becomes bigger than overwatch or overwatch gets really big again. it will still be fine because id argue the primary audience for this game is pretty casual gamer marvel fans rather than competative hero shooter fans. ive never played overwatch or valorant. i played tf2 and cs with friends in highschool, but the reason im playing this is cause its marvel characters. and there has not been any other game where you can play as some of these characters. so i dont think this game will die on release like some peole are saying, even if no overwatch players come to play it.
it doesnt have to be an overwatch killer people should just enjoy the game
Fr
Overwatch needs the wake up call
On the ps5 this game is fun as fuck i was having a blast! I thought it would feel jank but at least for me it was smoother than expected and responsive. Plus this game has style 👌 reminds me of how i got into marvel as a kid with Marvel vs Capcom 2, just a good hectic badass game with cool marvel characters!
0.0 Didn't know it was this difficult to get a key. Got mine at the beginning of emongg drops. The slide check I get, it was pain. Tried like 20 times, but got mine.
14:00 They just need to let us destroy the DESTROYED environment.
It makes no sense we can break down walls but we cant break down broken rubble.
You can though.
One might argue it has too much health after it's already rubble, but it can be broken down.
@@bazzfromthebackground3696 It just feels like it disapears naturally after a while.
Black panther is genji/dps doom
this game doesnt need to be the ow killer cause overwatch sucks, the real overwatch killer was blizzard and their timelines and false promises.
Kind of hard to be the "OW killer" when your own sequel already did that.
Yeah I've not been able to get one either through Twitch or by Lvl 6 for my friend! So he's not gonna bother with the beta
Blizzard is the Overwatch killer
To be far, the 3 maps is a non-issue since the game isn't even done. I'm sure when it's fully released there will be more maps
It’s a closed beta. The fact that this game isn’t complete yet and I’m having more fun here than ow2 speaks volumes in my opinion
the way they decided to give out keys is awful, im in europe and 2 nights in a row i waited until 2am only for website to crash and keys to be immediately gone when it came back up. getting tickets for bts concert is easier than this. so i just decided to give up and wait for release. :/
Yeah EU should've had seperate times for keys tbh. Ya'll got the short end.
If the roster grows to 40 and 30 team-ups, the playability around it will be so much more.
We need Black Widow added as a sniper hero for Rivals 🕷️
I feel like she would play like TF2 Spy
I hope MR release is good and got very popular, so Blizzard will realize that they need to improve OW2.
"just wait THIS time OW will die."
last week meanwhile people were loving juno.
some of yall truly must have goldfish level memories.
marvel rivals is really closer to smite than OW and if your issue with OW is monetization this game will not be much better itll probably be worse.
i like both games but rivals has balancing issues and character design that alarm me already. i dont think rivals long term is gonna be a great game competitively.
it cant beat overwatch if it isn't competitive.
i think rivals will be a very fun casual experience, but if you want a comp hero shooter you wont play rivals.
"Overwatch 1 dies on October 2,Blizzard has announced that Overwatch 1 goes offline forever on Sunday, October 2."
maybe its you with the goldfish memory if you forgot the game already died
@@ironman1458with a peak daily player of about 46k players on steam alone.. Sorry to brake it to you brother but in the gaming industry that's not being dead, I know you want OW to die so bad maybe in a few years but not today

Remember guys this is a BETA. There's still 6-9 months before the game is fully released. So far this feels way better than overwatch and all the problems they have are completely fixable
