The thing is, the box's OS is already 90% reliant on the service due to the way it was built, so something like this wouldn't be too out of the ordinary. You could install Linux to take control of the hardware, but that's a whole 'nother can of worms entirely.
@@pikusthearchiwizator If you're looking for the image used to create the yellow highlight box, that's stored as a bitmap in a DLL somewhere. It's been a while since I've done anything WebTV or MSN TV related, honestly.
Exactly! I made this because way too many anti-piracy screens have that sort of thing when it's just unnecessary. Realistically, no good company is going to hide jumpscares, blood, death threats, etc in their products' anti-piracy measures. What's the point anyway? To scare off the pirate? :P
Neither - I used the original assets ripped from the CF card to create this. I also used the original font, Segoe TV. Regarding emulators, there aren't any available right now (because the particular Windows CE kernel is hard to get booting currently), but it's being worked on. For right now, real hardware is your best bet.

@@catsoc10 Fair point - most bad videos aren't because of the device they're making it on (iPads aren't inherently bad for creating videos), rather, it's the skill of the person that creates them. Little Timmy isn't going to create much better of a video if he had a PC, after all :P
Yep! I made this specifically to be as accurate and realistic as possible - I thought about how Microsoft would actually go about anti-piracy rather than go with the whole "ooh scary you pirated this software you will go to jail for 8 bajillion years and rot" trend :P
This has been on my mind for a while, but it might be a bit complicated to do since it would probably be a lot longer. I can't promise anything, but I'll look into it ;)
it kinda is webtv was bought out by microsoft and they rebranded it to msn tv they made new boxes for it too the old webtv service was still being kept up
how do you get the ui? like i have the files with the ui but im toos tupid to know how to extract them to an image (photo) file to use in paint or whatever,
Honestly, what makes it more terrifying is the concept of how much control is tied to the service provider, down to the hardware YOU bought.

Agreed.

real
this is good. no jumpscares or creepy shit. just how an anti piracy screen should be done
Saw this exactly after watching MichealMJD talk about the TV box
oh wow, never thought an anti piracy screen would be this good
finally an anti-piracy video which is realistic and dosent use anti-piracy checker
Sounds used:
0:10 power_on (MY EYES!)
0:15 error
0:21 connecting
0:36 page_boundary (wut)
(And yes this is the sound used...)
Yeah, I used page boundary for the error sound since it made more sense than the disconnect sound.
This is real cool! Nice job!

this looks so real!
Thanks! I try to pay attention to small details whenever I can. The small details are really what help make it more realistic :P
Are there any emulators that base around MSN TV 2 or do you actually have to get the real hardware?

Finally a anti piracy screen that doesn't have horror bullshit
Exactly what I was going for: A non-cliche anti-piracy screen that's actually accurate to how a real company would handle stuff like this.
this makes me wonder how this would look on a sky box like the sky digibox, sky+, sky+hd, etc.
Unfortunately I’m completely unfamiliar with those cable boxes (if they even _are_ cable boxes), sorry 😅

@@sleepykoala.bs1 the footage shown is *not* an emulator - it's a manual recreation made in a video editor. There is no emulator for MSN TV 2 yet.
