    I definitely agree with the other comments you did a marvelous job bring the thing back to a relic condition but you're destroying it by spiking the barrels if this is a legal requirement where you are you need to say that in your videos

    Spiking the barrels is such a loss to history! This should not have been done!

    The word restore means to perform the necessary methods to resurrect an item to its original appearance and functionality. This is the third episode I've watched where you bring the gun to its original appearance, and mechanical operation, but you destroy the barrel(s). That is not a restoration. That's like restoring an ancient sword but cutting off the tip and edge of the blade so it cannot be sharp enough to defend yourself if needed. Or restoring an old crossbow, and leaving it without a bowstring, or even the ability to mount any bolts. The metal work, especially the handle, was superb. But the entire purpose becomes moot. I do not require you to shoot the weapon, or demonstrate loading it. Just restore it as it was when it was new. Not worth the subscription.

      The problem is their will be the inevitable idiot who will load and fire it! I've seen several restorations "pin" the barrels to keep that from happening. When a weapon is this badly rusted, the only thing you can do is go for conservation to preserve it for historical purposes. This will more likely wind up in some museum.
      I own a weapon like this, and because I have idiots in my family who won't take "NO" for an answer, I have plugged the barrel to keep them from destroying my double barreled shot gun. And maybe killing another family member because of their stupidity.

    • @rickreeve1246

      These antiques are structuraly compromised , he can restore the apearance but not the integrity of the materials that he's patching and buffing . you want a functional piece you ask for a replica not a restoration

    Here’s the deal people, it’s his gun and he can do whatever he wants with it. If you don’t like the way he does it, then don’t watch his gun videos but 300 comments on him destroying a block of rust that was never going to be anything again until he picked it up, you should be thanking him. He made sure some dumbbell didn’t try to shoot it and hurt themself. I liked it.

      Conversely, if you don't like my point of view, then don't read it. If it was offensive enough to compel you to reply with this snowflake rage, then that's an issue with you, not me. Restore means exactly that; to cause an antique item to look, and operate as it was when it new. He could offer the piece to a museum to quell your irrational fears. Imbecile!

    @brianburt8844 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    it is illegal in some states to carry a deadly firearm that is classified as a too brutal and powerful weapon
    not all states are the same laws as others to possess this maybe he was required by law in his state to make the firearm not fireable and the only way he could have it as a non firing decoration piece you have to report found firearms to have approvals to have it that's why he probably spiked the barrels to not fire anymore because he didn't want to sell it and wanted to keep it and that was the only way he could keep it I know it sucks to have to do that sometimes but that's the way the cookie crumbles sometimes, it's his choice,
    but yes I understand his part and disagree on it but it is what it is

    • @elijahtaboy
      @elijahtaboy ปีที่แล้ว

      Then he should not be touching any antique firearms period. Have someone who actually has the authority to own it properly, work on it. You can get permits to own operational firearms like this.
