@@kaitlynrowena5463 Idina performed in See What I Wanna See, and then opened Wicked in London 9 months after SWIWS closed. Jennifer Laura Thompson replaced Kristin Chenoweth in June of 2004, I believe, before Idina left Wicked 6 months later.
I know what you mean, but I think a lot of it is just the way mid-aughts recording tech picked up the overtones in her voice. Her voice doesn’t sound *quite* balanced to me in recordings, but every time I’ve heard her live (never in Wicked, sadly, but in other stuff) she has sounded incredible. For what it’s worth, her version of DG has grown on me significantly over the years. Maybe my younger ears were picking up on overtones that my older ears can no longer hear… or maybe I just appreciate the maturity in her take now more than I once did. *shrug*
I do love me some also some JLT!!
This is a stunning vocal
What did indina do after she left wicked? Cos she didn’t open the London production until 2006 right?
Who took over from Kristen after she left?

I never knew Shoshana was in Wicked!
She was the first person to take over after Idina left :)
Not only was she in Wicked, she was arguably one of the most vocally iconic Elphabas TO DATE! :)
Something about Shoshana's version always bothers me -- and I think it's because she does a mix when my ears are expecting a belt?
she’s using chest voice like 85% of the time here so i’m not sure which part you mean
you're listening to it wrong
