The thing I love about how Danny Briere and Keith Jones along with John Tortorella are addressing the needs for this team have been transparent. To the people who want to whine about re-signing a 30 year old defenseman like Nick Seeler by saying "I thought the Flyers said they're in a rebuild" , listen to what Danny said about a player like Seeler, if you trade away a guy with his skills you'll be trying to find another Nick Seeler the next day. Also, look at the number of 1st and 2nd round picks Danny Briere has been stockpiling for the next two drafts. That's how good teams rebuild. The current team have been playing very good this season, and they actually could make it into the wildcard series. I'd rather have a team in a rebuild getting a taste of the playoffs instead of sitting in the cellar with no hope.
Danny cooking at the trade deadline and and despite all of the injuries on D they still beat the best team in the league. This season has been quite the journey I swear
You are doing a great job so far Danny .. 4 1st round picks over the next 2 years just so far is awesome .. I do think Johansson could be ok though on the 3rd line .. He does have 13 goals so far this year and knows Torts a bit .. BUT l hate bein a couch Tater anylist .. So l do trust You and Keiths decision moving forward .. 2 great hockey minds!!
Briere and Jones are doing a great job. I have faith in the front office again (finally). It was sad to see Walker go but great to see what we got for him. And signing Seeler was huge. He's been our most consistent d-man for the past two years. Torts loves how he plays and relies on him. Glad he's going to be a Flyer for years to come. Get your shades ready 'cause the future is bright!
Torts is good enough to scare 4th liners to play as 2nd liners .. Lol .. We have zero Stars and we are playing awesome!! Glad we are still making significant changes even in a pretty good playoff position this close to the post season .. Cheers!!
That comment about the fans was weird from meltzer. He didn’t say that he was going to do anything to make the playoffs. He specifically said if a move comes that make sense for the future he will do it. If fans get mad about this press conference then they aren’t worth paying attention to
A first round pick from the Lanch is pretty far down the line. Certainly Briere knows this. He's top notch. I wish we still had Walker, a known commodity who wanted to stay.
We really don’t have to make big moves bc we have a lot of talent in our farm system we can call players up we brought up 2 players that could make a big difference
don't like a defenseman for gauthier. offense for offense. don't get the buffalo trade. great job signing seeler. thanks for winning last night (rip flyers fan).
Getting a first for walker is robbery for the Flyers.,.they HAD to do that! There won't be another year like this one where lower end D men fetch a 1st rounder
Johansen has been chased out of the 3 teams he's played for. He's notorious for not playing hard, being a problem in the dressing room. Remember this was a player who when he was traded to Nashville was projected to one day be a top 15 franchise level center, but never worked on his flaws and ended up a 1B at best. Now his play has deteriorated since he hit his 30's.
@@bjrnchrstn I like them all, and they deserve the benefit of the doubt, but I do root for the players after they are traded, and that will include Walker.
Farm team? What team have you been watching this year? Certainly not this Flyers team. They are more talented than we've been led to believe from the performance of last years team. They can play defense and they can score. Not quite there yet to compete for a Cup, but with far better coaching and leadership this year. York, Tippitt, Frost, Forester, Ersson and a few others have shown we have some good young talent her that Torts can mold.
@@DavidWrigley-n2g It's the identity of the previous mgt. Briere is here to change it, and he has a lot going for him. First, he is telegenic, which is important in this entertainment industry. Second, he earns the respect of the other GMs. Third, he represents the Flyers culture. Fourth, he can speak French to the Montreal press. So the whole package.
@@asphaltcowboy7567what was a terrible decision? Not letting cutter gathier walk or trading him before it became public that he didn’t want to play here??
"We got this stiff named Johansen who makes Kevin hayes look like a stanley cup mvp winner. We hate him, he hates us I can't really go into that at this point. We have a different vision at this point. We're trying to get rid of him in the next week ." So basically you're going to eat his entire salary. Way to go.
@ThatsAPaddlin88 I'm not a GM, he was found as a nobody.. reclamation project.. even Bundy 💯 said the same exact thing.. he's not special, he's a hard-nosed D. A dime a dozen. For 750 thou he's terrific for close to 3 mil at 30, he's average at best
4 years and a NMC for the first two years of the contract for a guy who’s on the wrong side of thirty with a style of play that is injury prone. Not a smart move and honestly they never learn. “Oh he’s a good guy” a “Flyers type player” all those silly cliches and haven’t won a cup in 49 years is the result of this mindset.
I understand the negativity given the last decade; that said, Danny, Jonesy and Torts are doing this right, and tonight’s win makes that abundantly clear. This Team is a Team, it has direction and they play their asses off. Seeler is a big part of that, and they’ve been clear they aren’t a team that will lose for high picks - they want to build a winning culture, and all the evidence points to them succeeding so far. Learning to trust again will take time for many, and their actions this week tell me everything I need to know that my Faith is not misplaced with this leadership group.

Very well said
Perfectly said.
Exactly. A rebuild doesn’t mean the entire roster needs to be 25 and under at all times.
Smart Guy
They are rebuilding for a future they cannot afford today.
Yeah that makes sense....glug glug glug [whisky bottle empty]
Danny is amazing. Love how he is sticking to his principles and the rebuild that he committed to us fans.

As a RANGERS fan very impressed with how the flyers are competing and winning 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Like Torts said , Don’t be in love with anyone right now. Stick to the plan boys.

The goal is always to try to make the playoffs.
No it isn’t
Tell that to chicago and san jose. All they did is fluu send tank.

Walker was going to get a better pay day elsewhere. You can also trade a late 1st rnd pick.
He will resign here in the offseason, got a first round pick for an expiring contract. Win no matter what way you look at it
It’s tough to argue with a player who wants to stay. Good news.
We really don’t have to make big moves bc we have a lot of talent in our farm system we can call players up we brought up 2 players that could make a big difference
Danny should pinch himself. With Jonesy and Torts running the show, his job couldn't be easier.
You so need to look at getting Ersson some help in a backup goalie and ship out Cal & Felix!!!
Ya see if Stolarz or Lyon are available to come back
Is Ya even a word? It seems one of us needs further education.@@ThatsAPaddlin88

The Flyers always do this -- still a farm team. Every team has an ex-Flyers who's doing well; wish them all luck.
The Flyers never did what Briere, Jonesy and Torts are doing.

It appears that CG acted like a brat. There were however, multiple teams interested in him…as of now, and it could change, we took the wrong offer.

@lcd2426 💯 correct, Sir..
Simon Nolet scored 68 goals in 68 games for the Windsor Maple Leafs. Is he available?
He played with the Flyers in the 70's...He's probably a little too old..
@@mikezobnowski3679 I see Simon Nolet is 82. Maybe Andre Lacroix who led the WHA in scoring one year with 147 points is available.

Andre Lacroix, at least one year led WHA in scoring.
Finished above Bobby Hull a few times.
