Is nobody going to talk about how the AMX-30 105 was advertised in the dev blog as having a faster reload then the base AMX-32 with the line "is it preferable to have more raw stopping power in the form of a larger caliber gun or is a faster rate of fire more important to win a gun duel?", yet when we got it in the game, it has the SAME exact reload rate? I'm hoping this is unintentional, but if it wasn't then Gaijin really needs to stop misleading players about the stats of the new vehicles. According to the dev blog it was not supposed to be a watered down version of the AMX-32, but rather a AMX-32 with a faster rate of fire, and the ability to carry more ammunition, making it possibly a more viable choice over the original AMX-32 depending on the player's personal preference.
AMX-32 is not " a cut down AMX-40", but an update of the AMX-30, mostly: standardization of stabilization (as tested on AMX-30C), and modified turret to accommodate stabilization without sacrificing space and the 20mm, allow for upgunning to 120, simplify production (welded construction), and bring up protection by use of spaced armour. Very comparable to the Leopard 1A5 project. The AMX-40 was a different, completely new project, quite similar to the early Leopard 2, and targeted for export (as the Leclerc project, technologically superior, was retained for the French Army and rather expensive).
Yeah, the AMX-32 came first and didn't work commercially, so they decided to make entirely new much more advanced tank, the AMX-40 which unfortunately, didn't work commercially either. It's such a shame because it looks crazy good and has a lot going for it.
honestly...sure it has bad armor but it is a very welcomed addition to the tech tree to me...i just got the amx32 b4 it got added so the amx32 105 will be a nice backup to my prem amx30 super and amx32
In typical Gaijin fashion, for some odd reason they think that going from 120mm to a 105mm means you lose 100hp in the same exact prototype with the only difference is the size of the gun caliber. And not to mention the transmission is modeled incorrectly that it acts like a 5 speed instead of a 10. Example, in the AMX-30B2 family of tanks the only difference between 7th and 8th gear is gong from 26kph to 27kph

IIRC they only stabilised the gun-sight and then made the gun only fire when the barrel and the sights aligned, so in practice it was a pseudo-stabilised gun. I kinda wish that Gaijin implemented that into the game as a sort of one-plane stabiliser, but it's >Gaijin.
That is a myth that has been refuted by several AMX-30 tankers. Not even B2 had this mythical system. Please don’t contribute to this misinfo. Someone confused the AMX-30 Valorise (which has a 120mm and commander sight stab, like 32 and 40) with the base AMX-30. But the stab’d sight thing is a complete myth otherwise.
@@threeshrikes That's essentially how all modern stabilisation systems work, it's much easier to stabilise a mirror in the gun sight and have the gun follow the sight rather than the other way round. All the in-game AMX-30s minus the Super cannot be stabilised however, because they do not have a stabilised sight that the gun system can be slaved to. The usual claim that it fired automatically when the gun is aligned with the target is basically a myth, since the gunner's sight is located in the same mantlet as the gun, the sight swings up and down together with the gun. What made AMX-32 and 40 stabilised in-game was actually the stabilised APX M527 commander's sight, which the turret can be slaved to follow, though the commander did not have access to the gunner's FCS.
The French need a lot of things. Very disappointed with the lack of vehicles Gaijin is putting into the French. Their tree should look similar in numbers to Germany with all the vehicles they could add.
Currently grinding through the French tree and I gotta say 8.3 France is one of the worst experiences of all in War Thunder. Especially when the vehicles are stock... They have 0 advantages over anything without the thermal imaging and laser rangefinder + the dart shot. You could argue that they're fast and nimble, but so is everything else (besides maybe a chieftain). Personally I think these vehicles (Namely the amx 30 b2 and brenus) deserve a passive yet small buff to make them slightly more competitive such as a small reload buff (6-7 second reload insted of 7.5-8 seconds). I also think making the dart shot a tier 1 mod would help since the stock heat is almost entirely useless at 8.3 and above.
I'd offer up that while the lack of stabilizers definitely sucks, the French get thermals, and either co-ax 20mm's, autoloaders, or the VAB pop up HOT launcher. They play more passively, but they can still punch hard and with good positioning, they can dish out some serious damage.
@@Bergebis They can, but when a PTL02 or WMA301 snipes you across the map with the same thermals along with a stabilizer it makes your tank redundant. Not saying these tanks are the worst, but when you have stuff like the Chinese wheeled tanks and T55 AM1's, the amx 30's just can't do anything. You practically have to get a full downtier and not face ussr or china to use them effectively. And with regards to the 20 mm, it's only useful when firing from a complete stop since it also isn't stabilized. I will say that it helps against Heli's and slow moving planes but again, you have to be stationary to fire accurately. Overall these tanks are just not at all versatile and a lot of their competition are in leagues of their own.
@@emersonsteffler4149 don't forget the prem rooikat: 8.7, thermals, fully stabilized with DM33, 121km/h top speed, 11.0 MBT levels of turret traverse, and double the gun depression of all the other wheeled thermal bois. It is insanely busted. Honestly ALL the wheeled thermal cars need to move up to 9.0. I still use the rooikat and wma as first spawns in my 10.0 lineups, and they do great there. There's legitimately no reason for any of them to be sub 9.0. A reload buff for the AMX-30B's is a good idea. Without a stab they kinda suffer at their BR, but it'd be really bad idea to move them down to 8.0 with thermals and an APFSDS with nearly the same pen as the 10.0 M1 Abrams top round, where it would be OP facing mostly post ww2 vehicles. Buffing the reload would definitely be a good compromise to keep them competitive/fun, without lowering their BR.
@@dirtbag_jim I agree 100% man. I own the Rooikat 105 and as a policy to myself I never take it out in any game below 9.0 br. It isn't fair to the opponent. I don't own the ptl02 or wma301 but it's very easy to realize they're unfair to the competition. The reload buff or nerf can be applied to many vehicles in this game to balance vehicles even if it isn't 100% historically accurate.

You're just too harsh towards this vehicle. You have to take it for what it is and not for what you'd like it to be. It's a 9.0 MBT that is not premium within the French tech tree. That's all you should judge. Is it any better nor worse than other 9.0 MBT found amongst another nation ? No. It's better on some aspects, worse on others but all in all it's a good vehicle for what it is supposed to be. The problem is not the vehicle but the line-up. The vehicle itself is good for what you can expcet from a 9.0 MBT

In real life the French didn't put 2 plane stabilizer on their tanks during the 70s and 80s because they wanted to save money. The AMX30B2 almost got it. German group of companies stepped in the late 80s to make the AMX30 Super and finally put a 2 plane stabilizer but no one got the upgrade for their AMX30
I truly don’t understand why they bumped them to 9.3 it’s CONSTANTLY getting uptiered to 10.0 every game and doesn’t have any armor slow reload and slow af I can u derstamd the amx40 but justifying the whole having a 20 mil bumping it to 9.3 is dumb af the turms 3 has all that and I think minus a range finder and is still 8.7??
yeah it's really anoying and 90% of the time russians mbt on top tier uses this vanishing and reappearing trick, and whats worst even if u shoot at the exact spot where tank was it just passes trough him (ghost shells)
I researched all tier V and FR 8.0 lineup by ebr 1954 and then finished all tier VI by FR 8.0 & 8.3 lineup. Why they didn't add the amx-32 105 last year, I would buy the super amx 30 and play amx32 105 on BR 9.0 and didn't need to slash funny german zoo by ebr 1954 and saved lots of time.
Be nice to play more then one country but Gaijin don't want people playing more then one country or play at top tier in this game they like to keep everyone below rank 5 because the grind in this game i so bad it take you years to unlock top tier then 3 more years to unlock a 2nd country may be after 15 years you can unlock every think in this game to they fix the grind in this game if you new and think of playing this game don't it not worth the 20 years it take to grind this game out now to they fix the grind in this game skip this game and don't play it
Armor of this tank need to be bit better. If remember correctly idea was to have armor stronger enough to survive auto cannons, and use speed to avoid and ambush more clumsy soviet tanks.
11:56 you think that disappearing act was bad. i yesterday i was stock grinding my VFM5 and i was on Sinai and i was at my usual spot at the three small ish rocks on C side and i saw a turms on some rocks somewhat behind me but i saw him over a rock. and of course he disappeared for 2 minutes while i was staring right at him then he kills one of my teammates and the reappears. the death of my teammate could have been avoided if dumbass gaijin fixed the anti cheat but no.
played a match with you yesterday, i think you were in a f16 and i was like the only tank on the ground, unfortunately i couldnt keep the last point capped cause some russian light tank kept destroying my barrel
The bugs in WT have been stacking up lately. Been getting a LOT more than usual of silent aircraft and tanks, the crazy de-rendering and render popping of vehicles, have hit multiple tanks directly in the pipe and does zero damage. Been a few random graphical errors as well, but at least those haven't been constant.
I was watching a video of yours recently. You were doing some CAS using some kind of guided missile, but you were locking onto targets in 3rd person. I am ok with spawncamping at the end of the game. What I am not ok with is spawncamping at the start or middle of the game.

Use Sight stabilization key, as a target lock on if your aircraft uses lock on capability for the ground ordinances.
