    Low volume but damn you gave me the answer I have been searching the whole internet during the last week. So we actually need to take into account for the "width" in a 2D simulation. Thank you!

    I have a prop simulated by MRF SimpleFoam. I am getting my forces in a dat file. But I don;t know if they are Force coeffs or the real force.
    What does it provide ? Thanks in advance for the help.

    Is there a way to calculate forces at different angles of attacks in one simulation.
    I mean, with varying angles of attacks in one single simulation?
    Any help would be appreciated....

      I guess the easiest way is to just move your structure and use a moving mesh approach. In the latest version search for tutorials containing a dynamicMeshDict in the system directory and adjust the pointDisplacement file in the 0 directory according to your needs. Internet search should help you with the right parameters.

    If i have a Square shape with side length of 1, what will be the Aref and Lref,?
    and why you said Aref equal D x by the span-wise, i think it is perimeter x span-wise length

      Moto Light For many objects it is convention to use the projected area, so d * l for the circular cylinder, which is the largest cross section. Image using a flashlight and point it in the flow direction on the object. The shadow is the reference area.
      For airfoils or bridges the definition is different however.

      I got it now, that is mean if i have a square it is also one side length * L in spanwise, but for the reference length is it the side dimension for a square and D for circle

      he uses the projected area which is the area you would see if you looked directly at the cylinder from the direction of flow
