I do 60percent water changes…
But I use water from my pond to replace bacteria so it’s ok
And I take out so much as my arowana is only 4inches so it’s in a small 1and a half foot tank

Don't you think replacing sponge from sump with disturb the bacteria colonies? I never change sponge from my canister.
Wade Ben I only change the filter wool from the 1st Chamber of my Sump. I still have 3 chambers with filter medias so beneficial bacterias are not disturb.

Bro question: I would like to know how you did the top cover for the aquarium made of PVC pipes. Thanks.
Use pvc pipes. Cut and measure to fit. I'm using a similar setup with pvc pipes and a net to bind the top to make a cover. The net helps to cushion the fish if it jumps.
Does it strong enough to prevent the arowana from jumping out? It seems so easy

Hi sir, I do own an aquarium but never had any idea of having an arowana. Need po ba na dapat it's just the water and the fish itself or okay lang na may aquarium accesories like pebbles or the likes? And when it comes to lighting, does it have any specifications or daylight fluorescent bulbs will do? Hope to hear from you. thanks in advance!
Hi JB, it really depends on your preference however some aquarium accessories may cause risk on the Arowana lalo na yung mga pointy. There is a tendency na pag nagwala sila, pag tinamaan nya yung accessories most likely matatangalan ng scale or magagasgas. That is why in my case I prefer no accessories in the tank. with pebbles it's okay as long as you clean it regularly, pwde kasi masingitan ng mga poops and pag hindi natanggal can cause poor water quality. For the lighting, this depends.. for Gold Arowana and Silver usually daylight is the best for them, this can be fluorescent. For Red Aro, usually pink light is ideal to intensify their red coloration.
How to make that lid po?, and won't the aro just be able to open it with 1 jump because there's nothing heavy on it or no lock

Thanks! :D I've used Oyama blue sticker for the background. The lights I'm using is Arcadia Pink Tanning lamp and Kintons LED pink Tanning light.

Hey sir ... You just connect pipe to tap water for creating vacuum but tap water will be contain clorin🤔 it will effect the water parameters
The tap water just to create vacuum (for draining the water from your tank) is not even 1% of the total volume of the tank (you may also add the volume of the water from the sump) it will not affect the water parameters. Also, if you watched the whole video even if I'm using aged water I'm still using water conditioner (Anti Chlorine) this is to make sure that my Arowana is always safe.

The beneficial bacteria is at the wool filter,so you are throwing the beneficial bacteria.
Not sure if you see in the video that I have 3 separate chambers dedicated for filter medias so even if I remove the wool there's more than enough beneficial bacteria left in the tank.

water conditioner (anti chlorine) is good, especially if your water is direct from tap. I use API Stresscoat

Hi Gowtham, my tank dimension is 5.5x2.5x2.5ft
at the minimum you should have 24inch(2ft) depth for an arowana tank. Asian arowanas can grow up 2 feet and silver arowana is longer.

Question how do you eliminate snails in the tank
4 Cool Kidz never had snails in my tank.. do you have plants? Its possible that it came from plants or rocks used as decor. One way to eliminate them is adding rock salt on your tank.. 1 cup every 50gal.

No, it won't. Even if you turn off the pump from the sump, water level will remain the same.

Hey I was just wondering how did you make your lid
It's made out of PVC then I put sand inside to make it heavy. I've use tie wrap to attach the plastic net. Just make sure the size of the hole will not fit any small fish that you havr. I'll make a video soon on how I made it. ;)

Dude filter wool contains colonies of beneficial bacteria that upkeep the nitrogen-cycle process in tank so changing will kill all of them resulting in "New tank syndrome".....so this may cause you trouble.....nice arowana and tank though!

Got it from a grocery store :D it's the thing you use to cover table food so flies can't get in. Good thing it fits on my sump.
Shouldn't change water and change filter foams all at the same time. Space it out. Changing water alone will remove some bacteria. If you change water and foam at the same time, alot of your beneficial bacteria will be gone and you may face a spike in parameters in your water, causing stress to your arowana.
Aside from the filter wool that I'm replacing every week, I have 3 other chambers (columns) of filter medias where all beneficial bacteria resides.

Hi Jason, a lot will tell you "bigger is better" but for me if your plan is just for a single Asian Arowana, sweet spot for the tank size is the exact dimension that you have. 4x2x2ft.
Easier to groom and maintain your Aro with that tank size.

Wavemaker is optional, usually used if you want the poops redirected and also to avoid water dead spot. I've tried using a wavemaker before but I find it not necessary in my tank as the pressure from my return pump is strong enough to push the poops to the filter.

hi sir! can you suggest a cheap fish that can clean uneaten food below besides pleco. i dont remember what is the name of your fish with the arowana, but i think it's very costly.
My Aro's tankmate is a Red Flag Tail, usually ranges around Php800-1,300 small size. You can also consider Tinfoil if your concern in uneaten food below the tank, those fish are relatively cheap and you can comm.

I only add rock salt if there's a need to cure in my Aro, ex. Cloudy eye, mild dropsy, chipped scale, etc. but I don't add salt regularly during water changes.

1. Glass tickness is 12mm
2. Sump Filter with 5 chambers (columns) mixed filter medias. See link below for details.
3. Variety is key, but staple is prawn. I give pellets, crickets and sometimes feeder frog.
4. Heater I don't use as the tank is indoor and I live in tropical country. Lights is Arcadia Tanning Light and Kingtons pink light.

Hi Juvin, here are some of your options if you prefer having a single 6ft tanning light for your tank.
Dymax Rex Tanning light 6ft (External light, mounted in front of your tank)
Kintons LED Tanning light 6ft (Submersible, you can put inside the tank)
Arcadia Tanning light is too small for your 6ft tank, they only offer 4ft tanning lights.

Thanks! I appreciate it. at the minimum you need at least 4ft x 2ft for your Aro. the bigger tank the better since silver could reach up to 3ft max. If you have budget and room space go for 6x3x2.5 (LxWxH)
