the angel of rock n roll. gene always helps me to pass the difficult time of my life.
"Hot Rod Gang" should have gotten multiple Academy Awards in 58-59. The "Deuce" Ashley drives is my dream "Highboy Roadster". This is also one of Jeff Beck's favourite movies.
'Ghost of Drag Strip Hollow' was a sequel?. some of the same folks and footage. Love the old places shown, we used to frequent Stan s Drive In back in the day.
Fun movie and the GV footage is priceless, but it was a B movie for the Drive-In market and those movies were never even in consideration for any kind of awards.
-Forever coool. In 1960 a car accident in England injured him badly & also killed Eddie Cochran. But Gene still played on until his death at age 36 in 1971. Gene rip.
Those tight black pants & white socks, the waterfalls, grease & those collars turned up, these were the makings of a real punk. They'd act cool, friendly & had every other girl drooling over their good looks and charm. We had a few in our highschool, but 1,200 of us didn't fit that description. Gene was underrated here in Vancouver Canada, honestly. Tis guy should of been as popular as Buddy Holly but was almost unheard of. Thx4 postin'
A True Legend and Icon, R.I.P. Gene.
The guitarist standing to the left of Gene is Johnny Meeks .
We enjoyed this a few days ago on The Memory Lane Programme on The Spotlight TV Channel. When I saw 01:18 I screamed and laughed and almost fainted and said to my husband "That's what my eyes were made for!" 🥰🇯🇲🏴🕊️🔥✝️
listen to the guitars , you will see 'heartbreak hotel' is rockabilly , while 'baby blue' is rock'n roll ....
Absolutely 🎶🎶
I remember discovering this track on an ep along with - Lovely Loretta - Dance in the Street - and - Dance to the Bop, three other classic tracks. Great to see this clip.
LOVE GENE VINCENT. SMOOTH VOCALS AND STAGE PRESENCE!
This rocks! Music to my ears. I'd never heard this Gene Vincent song before.
Cliff was only with the blue caps 1956 he then left for the quiet family life. Johnny Meeks joined 1957-58
This is amazing to see
Gotta love the internet. For some reason, I was wondering where ‘Baby Blue’ came from and here I am bouncing from Vincent to Dylan to Badfinger.
Keep it going pal. He'll be popular forever.!
Vu dans les annees 60 à Marseille Theatre Mongrand . Un concert fabuleux .Rr.
Greasers rule, always have, always will!!!!!!
One of the cooles tunes ever
These are some SERIOUSLY cool cats!
I just love your subtlety
"I didn't get much into Presley much, because he was too perfect. But Gene wasn't.
There was an ugliness about him, and he played ugly rock'n'roll, that's what I liked. He was pure rebellion, the first punk.
And the Blue Caps just twisted my head, what Cliff Gallup could do on guitar. I first saw him at the Kingston Granada.
It was scary, like watching a murder on stage. The album pictures just didn't prepare us for what he was like.
I felt that any minute I might get a bullet in my head. And I didn't care !!"
- Jeff Beck
Choose Your Love *** Love Your Choice *** And I Do ! Gene Vincent/ Baby Blue
soo handsome he was
So, when are they going to make a movie about his life, music, and times?
Hmmm who could play Gene honestly and capture his style?
So cool. We saw nothing like this in England in 1957 - leastwise not where I lived - it was still as if not much had changed since 1947!! It was years before the UK made a recovery from WW2.
Fabuleux.
Listen to the guitar at the beginning and you can see why Jeff Beck was influenced by these guys; Big Block from his Guitar Shop album borrows from this tune. This song rocks.
At his best with the full team two guys just for hand clapping and harmonies rock n roll luxury 🎸
So true! Siren Loves Nichole!
morceau mythique des années 50,mais play back incertain de Gene Vincent
How many times they say"baby" in this tune ;-) Sweet Gene Vincent!
The Greatest! El PUTO AMO !
You don't come closer to reality than this....
Amen to that Pupu !!!
🌹🌹🌹
gonna back up baby and start all over again
i like be bop a lula, but i love this song too
Recorded 9 december 1957. buck owens rhythm guitar, johnny meeks lead guitar, bobby jones bass and dickie harrell drums. paul peek and tommy facenda clapper boys. Not sure if line up was correct in movie.
Wasn't that Grady Owen on rhythm guitar?
@@bebopalula5785 buck Owens according to my info.

Hot rod gang
@skatepunkzero I can't believe you can't find Hot Rod Gang along with the Blackboard Jungle? & Rebel Without a Cause(the most popular of 'em all). I myself haven't checked it out but I certainly am finding all kinds of R&R, & that includes Rockabilly such as David Orrell & Be My Baby. Rockabilly wasn't played here in Vancouver Cda & why I don't know, it was all mainstream. I was too young to listen to Gene but the dj did play Be Bop-a-Lulu (not a fav. of mine. The internet is amazing!THX
Gene vincent se parece al actor roberto cobos el calambres......
Billy Zoom's hero - good enough for me
The true king of Rock 'N Roll. Elvis? Never heard of her.
A un lado elvis..move a side elvis.....
Far out Daddy-O!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
repris entre autre par eddy Mitchell des chaussettes noires,(Betty) ;les noms de Gene Vincent et Bobby Jones, les compositeurs,ne figurent pas sur les disques
Came here after finding out "crazy hazy kisses" by Flat Duo Jets was kind of a cover of this song
Badder than Elvis was ever! Gene a true man.
Gene was not in Elvis' class. He just followed in the master's footsteps. Having said that I saw Gene many times on stage in the UK throughout the years and he always put on a great show.
Tommy Facenda giving 110% legend
❤️😎❤️😻❤️👍❤️
Maybe I have an ear for music but the song sounds slightly similar to Elvis's "Heartbreak Hotel".
That riff is straight out of Muddy Waters and Bo Diddley
Notice the look Gene gives Tommy at the end? ....I assume he didn’t appreciate Bubba crowding him out!
Wow never noticed that before...!!
now THIS is Punk, not some 80's hardcore crap!!
Coucou bisous ma belle
I think that was Johnny Meeks on lead and break, but it’s hard to tell from the video, if anybody was actually playing there. Cliff Gallup had left the band by this time.
I thought Cliff Gallup was lead Guitar
Gene Vincent was between Elvis Presley and Jerry Lee Lewis. More strong than Elvis but not wild like Jerry Lee.
This is some fucked up shit man.
