UPDATE: I received the replacement parts for my figures, exactly as requested and in pretty good time, so at the very least my customer service experience has been positive. If you'd like to pre-order your own... shop.yolopark.com/?ref=Citrus (5% off w/ CITRUS)
I might be wrong but I think their partial assembly and usage if the word “model kit” might be a legal license issue. They might be licensed only to make “model kits”, but want to sell action figures, and this is a way to skirt around that
@@citrusjuicebox It think this might be an easier sell to the crowd that doesn't do model kit at all ever but is maybe open to Lego? I have seen Yolopark compared to Bionicle. "No tools required" and all that.
Didn't Hot Toys also started out this way? I seem to remember their early Predator figures were partially assembled. You needed to put on the mesh bodysuit on the figures yourselves.
I actually just got mine today, and I'm happy to say that mine did not come with most of those issues. The only one is an overly stiff left bicep, and a slight paint scuff on one of the knives. Either they did fix the issues on later releases, or I got a really good copy.
I got a copy today and i hope you don't mind asking, but did your copy come with the pins on your clamshell packaging? Mine didn't and I'm wondering if mine could be either a bootleg or an updated copy. I bought this off of Amazon from the Official Yolopark website.
@andyroughcut4521 It's good sign. Does it also include the papers for Yolopark customer support? It's possible they excluded the pins from the packaging following customer feedback.
Yolopark's usage of the word "model kit" is a clear case of "you keep using that word, I don't think it means what you think it means" to me. In gunpla terms, they've assembled all of the sections but refused to finish putting the "kit" together.
Thank you for the balanced review! I really hope they can fix the qc issues in the future. I quite like the look and scale of the figures, but I gotta agree that the whole 'model kit' aspect is a weird choice
i saw other reviews and they didnt seem to have these problems. it's definitely a qc issue or he got an early copy. definitely gonna pick these up in the near future
Another newcomer called Blokees has announced an Evangelion model kit under their Action Edition line. I'm cautiously waiting for that with their Action Edition G1 Optimus Prime actually being a good size for it's price (Similar to Reborn 100 or some really early MG kits in terms of build complexity). Yolopark hasn't sold me on their products as of yet and it's such a shame they dropped the ball on Evangelion at least for seasoned collectors. Also I recommend getting a bottle of those joint tightener liquids for the antenna. While usually used to tighten joints I tend to use it to give a stronger grip for press fit parts that are likely to fall out without being permanent.
@citrusjuicebox I'm not into eva at all but i have been disappointed after knowing how yolopark use the word model kits loosely when transformers rise of the beast comes out
I am pretty sure that the “AMK” stands for “assembled model kits” so that’s why they are sort or “pre assembled” Still I think it’s little silly, I feel either come fully assembled or not at all. 😅
I have the Transformers One figures which has the same levels of packaging, presentation and assembly. can confirm the tolerances when attaching balljoint segments can be quite tight on those. After the first one was built I opted to sand the others down a little, which made it a lot easy for the remaining ones. fortunately I've felt with this kinda thing while building model kits before, but for someone new this might be a bit daunting. also the trays were secured the same way, so I doubt they will change the methods til another product line only thing that seemed different is they had a Lot less QC issues then these EVAs (less nub marks and glue stains)
If I were to buy any model kits from Neon Genesis Evangelion and The Rebuild of Evangelion... I don't think it would be these. I'd go for Moderoid's Unit 01 or one of the LMHGs and RGs from Bandai. As for Eva as a franchise... Well, I'm interested in watching Neon Genesis Evangelion and its Ideon-inspired finale film The End of Evangelion, but I can't stand the way tourists and Anitubers paint it as something that it is not. Eva is at its core a psychological J-drama that doubles as a loveletter and homage to the shows the creator grew up on, namely Space Runaway Ideon and Ultraseven. It's not a deconstruction of the genre nor is it the "first mech to be about the characters rather than the robot", it's an example of how versatile an anime genre mecha is, if not THE example. Don't get me started on people who misrepresent Eva to shit on it.
Hmm... Could be. I remember I think a Kotobukiya kit mentioning it was 1/400 scale, but it was definitely bigger than 10 cm. Eva scale is all over the place, of course.
@@citrusjuicebox Yeah... Which explains the weird proportions of both the entry plug and knife on these "Kits". I guess it's my inner UC fanboy wanting to know all the technical details of the mechs haha.
@@RynerGT Given Anno's very vocal distaste for otaku in the past, I wouldn't be surprised if he designed Eva sizes to be very loose just to annoy pedants like us, who care about these kinds of details
@@citrusjuicebox Then again, he did make a lot of CCA designs that are, for a lack of a better word, meticulously detailed (for the better of course). Though, that was earlier in his career and life so, who knows. People change right?
To me the overall proportioning, design and joints disregarding the shoulder pylon and elbows look far too suspiciously similar to the new version robot spirits its kinda uncanny lol. There are some really odd and specific choices in color blocking and usage that is far too similar to the 3.0+1.0 2021 release of the robot spirits eva 01, the jaw portion being metallic purple, the attachment point of the umbilical cord being black as well as it lacking purple paint on the collarbone section. To me this feels like they copied the robot spirits and scaled it up, changed a few joints and called it a day, feels disappointing tbh. Though, it would be neat to see them next to eachother
FINALLY! SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY NOTICES THE EXTREME SIMILARITIES BETWEEN THE YOLOPARK EVAS AND THE ROBOT SPIRITS EVAS!!!! Apart from having the same character design, Yolopark's Eva's are quite literally just scaled up Robot Spirits Eva's. I myself own the Robot Spirits Eva's and like you mentioned, they're suspiciously similar. (The only major difference that I could find are how the shoulder pylons are placed. )
I just don't get the hype for the AMK series. My experience so far has been awful with their TF AMK stuff mainly due to the terrible plastic they use and quite absurd engineering tbh. I'll give them credit for being cheap, but I'd rather take 16cm-17cm figures with decent construction that 20cm ones that feel like shit

Could be, but that still wouldn't explain why they bothered to partially assemble the "kit." I can only guess it's a presentation gimmick.

@@barbd8212 Ahhh that makes some sense. I can see the angle.
pretty sure its just this. it has to do with the nonsense that surrounds Transformers licensing and this line name is just carried over from that.

Quite disappointing on how yolopark handled these series, other series are amazing 😢

Hope they would also sell this in retail stores like their transformer ones because i was impressed by the optimus prime i have
Blokees is doing their own Eva-Unit 01 model kit, much like their bigger Optimus Prime it's also a full model kit.
I hadn’t heard of that, I’ll have to check it out thank you!
I got mine early at a physical shop
I wish it was like more metal looking a more different design
yay new vid! heck yea

Bro why did they not paint around the eyes??? The purple around the golden eyes instead of the normal black is throwing me off like crazy
Probably because the budget is low

How's it compare to the Real Grade?
These are cheaper, slightly larger, fewer gimmicks, less complex, lower quality overall

Can't agree with this enough
I think, hypothetically from what I can remember, this figure would be 1/200. Since (depends on the scene of the anime) the Evas are 40 m. tall.
