Just got my first job and my goal is wound care one day. It’s an odd feeling after being in school for so long. Also, I finally have a career in which I can be proud. Also for the students that are seeing this. If you can make it into nursing school you can succeed in nursing school. Yes it’s colossus but you can do it! The biggest lesson I learned during nclex is to trust yourself. Good luck 👍 To NB’s question, I do not feel prepared to take on PT’s on my own. There are so many things we simply are not taught in nursing school. As one of my instructors said if we did it would take 20 years to teach you everything you need to know. Furthermore, it is intimidating but this feeling will fade over time. While I was a student a nurse told me to find a hospital with a good residency program. That may be a subject NB can expand further upon.
A passed my Nclex a few months ago and it’s very overwhelming how much I don’t know. It definitely gives you a underprepared feeling and a sense of incompetency. It’s a hard truth but with time and experience, it’ll get better
No one knows how to be a nurse till you get in there and do it. I’ve been a Cna for years I show skills to new rns at work I still feel stupid in my rn program but I’m headed to finish in December 21’
Oh Brad you hit every nail on the head that I am currently feeling! I am considering withdrawing because I am feeling so inadequate. The grades I am getting versus the grades I am used to getting are total opposite, we are being tested on things we never have even been introduced to, all the things you mentioned are true! I hate what I am feeling but I really felt this! Thanks for sharing- gave me some hope!
Hey Steph, I went from making straight A’s in the prerequisites to getting a majority of C’s in my theory classes in nursing school. The grade you make now doesn’t make the nurse you will be later. Nursing school is set up this way on purpose. They need to weed out the people that do not want to put in the effort. You are smart, you are good enough. Now go and be your best nurse 💪
@@sheepdog5799 I am thankful to hear your comment. Nurisng school is so defeating and makes me wonder if I have what it takes to get through. Today we press on 😉
This came at the PERFECT TIME! I went to talk to my teacher about this same thing! All those questions you stated went to my mind and I had grit my teeth and push thru those feelings!! Thx nurse bass!!
Appreciate this video. Felt all these and doesn’t help when dealing with a chronic autoimmune condition on top of it in the middle of a pandemic. Always questioning myself and my choice to pursue this career. Met with Professors and they want me there because I deal with something they can only teach the pathophysiology and pharmacology of. Having the experience of the emotional struggle, spiritual stress, and the mental battle will only make me better in building patient relationships. Long term goal is np school and going into rheumatology. Starting back up in fall and ready to merc this class.
I fucking love the mentality in the last sentence. It sounds like you’ve found your calling and that patients would absolutely benefit from you and your experiences would certainly prove to be a blessing as it would seep through into your craft of caring for lives. Do your thing brother!
Thanks for the video, I'm going to begin my second semester of nursing school. After the first semester I felt incredibly incompetent. I'm trying to apply for a nurse externship to gain experience but your video helped me realize that with time it gets better.
Words truly can’t express how grateful I am for this video. Everything you said, I FEEL! I just want to feel like I’m competent in this program…is that too much to ask for? 🤔 Lol
