    I was introduced to Pastina last year as an Amazon Delivery Driver. A package exploded on me and I had tiny pasta stars all over my van. Had to mark the parcel as "Damaged" and returned it to the station with stars spilling out of it. I was intrigued tho because they were soooo cute (ITTY BITTY STARS YOU CAN EAT OMG) so I went home and googled them and I became hooked. But now I have the sad.

    “Pastina” is a broader category of tiny pasta that also includes acini de pepe and orzo. What they mentioned here is “stelline” (little stars), a type of pastina. It just so happened that stelline was the only type of pastina widely available in the US, and the “pastina” name referring to just that shape of pasta stuck.

    It's 3:07AM and I'm buzzed. I've never heard of this pasta brand before. I am so devastated at this loss.

    My Grandmas used to always make it whenever I would go over to her house when I was kid. Sad to see a childhood food go.

    I never really bought it. I thought of it as a pasta for making "chicken and stars" soup from scratch. Sad to see a staple go though. It seems like the recipe she showed here could be done with couscous or orzo (or the Barilla alternative).

    Relax people. There's another brand that does it and they're the exact same flavour and shape. The company has the alphabet ones too.

    • @KatieBellino
      @KatieBellino ปีที่แล้ว

      Exactly. I always thought of them as a chicken soup add-in more than anything else. What she did with the pastina here is basically what I do with couscous sometimes.

    Hey!! Not Pastina, don’t forget *Penne* too!!! I was looking for it too!! It’s my favorite pasta shape! But I can’t find it anywhere at the supermarket!! What else other shape of pasta will also discontinue?
    If this keeps discontinue, *we will disappointed to the pasta company* .

    • @KatieBellino
      @KatieBellino ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that's just a shortage. I can't imagine penne going anywhere.

    They were advertising it as heart healthy. It's just reg pasta or maybe it's whole grain. But normal white pasta isn't a very healthy food. It gives carbs and energy but that's pretty much it.
