I just killed a big roof rat with the M326. I've had several of those traps for years but had no luck because I was placing them wrong (random instead of along the edge baseboard). This time I placed it as shown in the video. I used peanut butter on the top of the plate, and also a thin layer on the underside of the plate to keep the rat interested in case he finished what was on the top without triggering the trap. There was some bleeding, and I'm sure it broke his neck. At least it was quick!
It would be helpful if you also showed how to load the traditional trap. It's similar, but just different enough that I thought I had set it... only to find out a few seconds later that I had not! (I did get the hang of it on a second try.)
OMG when mr. Rat steps on the paddle look at his face when the rat trap snaps By the way thanks for 4 likes Rip mr.rat we will never forget you and the funny face you made when you got owned by that rat trap one like = one prer for mr.rat
Bait Cage kit for rat traps works well with both styles of victor traps and locks the bait to the trap which keeps the rat feeding on the bait longer and getting caught faster
Victor es la marca que he usado y me funcionó a la perfección. En la primer noche que la puse logré capturar al ratón que no me dejaba descansar. Le puse un cacahuatito salado como carnada.
I also have several of the electric models, and sometimes the peanut butter will be gone without a rat getting electrocuted (same with the spring models). I chalk it up to the rats being clever, so I make sure they don't have access to the back plate unless they walk forward into the trap. We'll see...
OK.. I have just one question though... do you recommend the "PROVOKE" rat and mouse attractant? (';')( ';') == just teasing you.. nice video... why label it "professional" ? is it stronger? more dangerous? or just the plastic paddle? thanks!
I have not been able to set the SET ARM under the bait trap on either Firm or Soft without getting my fingers smashed. I'm not a professional but can not set theM326. I have used the M200 many times with great success, The M326 is not at all easy to properly catch the Set Arm properly under of the bait tray latch........ OUCH x 4!!!! I'm very disappointed as I bought a dozen in a sealed box and they are just useless to me. Plus my pointer finger and thumb on right hand hurt badly after 4 snaps....OUCH x 4!!!!
@MakeMeKing09 Lighten your trigger so that even a stamp sets it off, squeeze the end of the trigger on one side so they have to dig into it to get the bait. That and a super light trigger is a sure thing.
Problem with liquid type baits is that the lightweight mice come along and consume it all without triggering the trap. The yellow triangle is a pain to hook a nut onto it. My rats go along the wall and then around the trap and back to the wall :-D
All great points! You can use a softer food like fruit, pet food, bacon, or peanut butter on traps if you need something sticky. A cotton ball with some anise or vanilla extract on it is a great attractant, too, and it won’t spoil like food. You can set the Pro traps to the “soft” setting so they are as sensitive as possible to catch the smallest mice. We always recommend placing traps perpendicular to the wall and in the middle of runways (not in corners) for the best chances at catching rodents. Rats are neophobic, so you can also try pre-baiting traps for a day or two to teach the rodents to trust the new object before you actually set the trap. Thanks for watching!
@@domyown Thanks for the detailed reply. Maybe I could try some dried fruit as that is quite strong and flexible will hook under the triangle. Do you think an attractant is enough to make them trigger the trap? ie would they actually want to eat it, or is it more of a curiosity thing. I find the weight of the bait (eg a nut) is enough to trigger the trap on the soft setting, so the firm setting is the new soft setting in that case. Sometimes bait of a slippery consistency can affect the sensitivity of the trap if it gets in the wrong place which is easy to do. My traps are usually set in boxes up in the trees which seems very successful as it avoids non-target species (in New Zealand) and guides the rat to the strike end of the trap. The ground is a dangerous place for them due to cats etc. The big yellow plastic tab broke on a trap yesterday. It struck the rat across the back of the neck, but it was still alive in the morning. It's possible the distraught rat chewed the plastic and broke it as I can't see how else it would break.
Funny that you didn't show your thumb raising the strike bar as you tried to get the latch inside it's holding place. Isn't that kind of the point of the video to show what's going on?
The professional rat attracter!!!! So you are telling me that peanut butter which is half the price for twice as much, doesn't work as well? Or is it because it is made of nuts, some people could react to it, and you don't want to get in trouble?
Good straightforward video but would be a bit more helpful to reshoot it looking from the instructor's point of view rather than in front of him and having to think of the instructions backwards.
I've recently had 2 Victor rat traps fall apart because the staples simply slid out. Lousy structure for a company decades old and which could do better
I hate to do it, but at least one is in the trunk of my car. Evidence of mouse poop under the hood. Problems with the exhaust system - I wonder if they are to blame. One in my washer in the garage. I pulled what I thought was a thread - it was a mouse/rat tail. I don't know how to get the rest of it out so I'm using the laundry mat for now : ( I really am sorry but it is me or them at this point
We apologize for the situation you're going through & for any inconvenience this has caused you. There are very limited things we can advise on how to get the rodent out of the vent. You may consider putting some Disposable Nitrile Gloves (Box of 100) www.domyown.com/disposable-nitrile-gloves-box-of-100-p-2769.html on & trying to remove the rest of the body with some snake tongs. We hope you are able to use your washer again soon! @MakeMeKing09 If your trap disappears (like mine) just chain it down to something so they can't run away with it. I guess thats what happened to mine because I can't find in ANYWHERE and I had just set it 20 minutes before. I posted a video "How a mousetrap should work.AVI" of mine.
Not a professional, but have been using the Victor line of traps for over 40 years. The "Professional" model is the best. It is the easiest to bait and set. Hard to find in my area outside of stores specializing in pest control. The "standard" model is more of a danger to you than the pest! QC at the factory is poor. Rarely have I been able to set one of these without having to "tweak" the bait pan first to have the kill bar positively set. Pests steal from this model more often than the other. My advice, stay away from the standard model. A waste of money.
Guys don't buy the Victor professional or the Victor traditional mouse or rat traps because do my own pest control is selling them for a very expensive price
"Professional"- what a joke! I've used the old school Victor Rat traps all my life and they kill rats! These NEW traps with that plastic yellow thing on it DON'T WORK!!! I bought 4 of them only because I couldn't find any of the ORIGINAL VICTOR RAT TRAPS with the metal bate holder on it. I set 3 traps where I saw a rat in my kitchen. The cheese was gone from one and it was still set. The other one went off but no sign of a rat being hurt. The bate was completely gone from the 3rd trap and it was also still set. I've use cheese and peanut butter i these traps and have reset them but no rats. THEY DO NOT CATCH RATS.
yeah first couple nights I was shooting 1 or 2 here and there with my BB gun its 1 shot 1 kill I got a powerful one.. I think Im gonna order this online, little fuckers keep comin back I can't stay up all night every time and guard the house hehe even though I admit its fun shooting them nice and clean 1 shot 1 kill its just time consuming.. I rather set the trap and have fun hearing them die while Im asleep :)
I've used several cases of T-Rex Max and they suck balls after several months they break the spring is too strong for the cheap plastic and they literally break apart
Francisco Islas yeah but the Victor in most cases don’t work after the first catch because the plastic strips and therefore makes it difficult to set. They are difficult to set as it is. The Trex. Do stop working like you say but I’ll take a month over 1 catch and the annoying setting. The Victor with metal instead of plastic is better the yellow plastic ones suck.

I agree compared to Tom cat and Sandra trapped this one seems overly complex and I'm just waiting to hear that snap thanks a lot
Bait Cage kit for rat traps works well with both styles of victor traps and locks the bait to the trap which keeps the rat feeding on the bait longer and getting caught faster
It's a good idea to secure the trap to something. I've had rats (in the traps) carry the traps to other locations. BIG rats!!!!!!
ya, i usually drill a hole into the trap and run a string through it for that reason
Thank you for this lesson in trapping.
Blessings to you and yours !

Use gloves to hide the human scent? I've been told to do that by others. What's your thought on that?
I have a rat getting into my green bin. Thanks for the tutorial. When you said here comes Mr. Rat .... well I died 😂😂😂
I used the Bait Cage kit for rat traps available on Amazon with my victor traps and I get the rat every time
Good trap! Kills a mouse instantly when the killbar lands on its neck. And the trigger can set up so that its very sensitive but firm.
no rats were injured during this video LOL
Can't beat a good Victor!!
The stuffed animal rat is the finale of a life time!!! :)
Dame mr rat scared the hell out of me lol
damn me too.
Scared me too lol
Lmao me too I was paying attention and looked back at the screen and jumped

Thanks a lot I'm in Chicago I usually use tomcat now know how to prime it will see what happens
Thanks, I was looking for a description on the "S" and "F" on the yellow plate. Gracias

+Frederick Dunn the manufacturer has named the product Victor Professional Rat Trap due to the expanded bait pedal.
Ok thanks.. so it's not a stronger spring or anything like that.. appreciate the fast response!
Frederick Dunn You are most welcome. The expanded bait pedal is the only change. Let us know if you have anymore questions.
Thanks!
Ive had luck with the copper bait tray
lol here comes Mr rat
Damn, Mr Rat was enormous. Helpful video though, thanks Mr Victor professional rat trap.
What about the other model that we see at the start? That's the one I have. That's the only kind I find in the stores.

Lmfao. I want a Mr. Rat plush. :(

Here comes mr.rat" -____-
The professional rat attracter!!!!
So you are telling me that peanut butter which is half the price for twice as much, doesn't work as well? Or is it because it is made of nuts, some people could react to it, and you don't want to get in trouble?

Anyone know if this will work for grey squirrels?
London2362 I’ve caught a few with the professional traps
@@kyle92lx Thanks...I want to control their numbers on my property, but try to make sure it's as quick a kill as possible...
Squirrels are cute. Please don't kill them. Call animal control to relocate them instead.
@BLOODYMOON62 lol what?

o.o BIG RAT!
You didn’t include the last step for the original model??!?? I was left hanging holding the kill bar with both hands
Please watch the video from 1:57 to 2:27 on how to set the trap. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Only showed how to set the professional trap. Store didn't have that one so I don't have professional one.
i thought that was a real rat at first
Mr Rat hahahahahahah
nooo!! MR. RAT, NOOOOO!!
Noooo Mr. Rat!
trying to set the victor professional is a recipe for broken fingers. I'll stick with t-rex traps
@BosnaVolimte no average size rat XD
I bet this guy had at least a dozen takes trying to set that plastic trap
really? ouch...
A RAT WAS KILLED IN MAKING OF THIS VIDEO
That wasn't a rat!
This video is fake!!!! 😯
