  • A look under the bonnet of a Toyota Yaris Excel (2022 UK spec). Video shows the 3 cylinder petrol engine and electric motor that have been squeezed under the bonnet of a Toyota Yaris. The video shows where to top up the washer fluid and where the oil dipstick is located.

Nice! I think it would've been good if you showed where the battery port is for jump starting. The reason for this is because the battery is actually located in the back, but there's a port under the bonnet. I suspect this might be a common question to hybrid newbies. I also heard the Yaris' 12v battery can deplete within a week if not driven, so always good to be prepared!
There's also some other fluids like brake, engine coolant, which is a good to know but should be obvious in the manual.

During COVID lockdown I owned a 2018 Toyota Yaris hybrid. I was only using the car once a week or less to do a 15mile round trip to the supermarket and back for several months. I had absolutely no problems starting the car.
I have just been reading this article and some of the comments underneath.
      mag.toyota.co.uk/coronavirus-toyota-hybrid-car-maintenance/
I think the number of comments indicate that there is an issue ... however I have owned a hybrid since 2018 and have no experience of this issue even during lockdown which is why I did not think to include any information about the jump start terminal in the video.
I think if there was a generic issue with *all* very low mileage Toyota's then I would have experienced it during lockdown. I am not saying that there isn't an issue ... just saying that it is not as simple as *all* Toyota hybrids. And its not as simple as the 12V battery will deplete after 7 days of no use ... I sometimes didn't go to the supermarket for more than 7 days during lockdown.
I now have a 2022 Toyota Yaris and I have just looked in my car's manual and the jump start terminal is located in the "Relay & Fuse" box on the right hand side and there is a closeup of this in the video.
I am considering doing another video which will just be how to jump start a hybrid. Until I read the above link I really didn't think there was an issue that would make the video interesting.
As I said in the video I am not a mechanic and I didn't want to risk including stuff about brake fluid, engine coolant and other stuff where I would show my ignorance and say something that was wrong!
