At the very least they should have a guarantee of legendary gear in these rooms... the fact that you can get only blues/purples in these is extremely criminal
This just proves how awful money storage is, when people would prefer to use actual items instead of bags and chests. They clearly need to make money storage more accessible in general and maybe increase the amount they can hold.
Like a week before last wipe, my buddy and I killed HR ghost king for the first time and got an artifact. Traded it for 5 skull keys. We decided to use one just to do it and check it off our bucket list. We got another artifact outta it.... Lol. We used two more and got jack shit tho.
They need to introduce something unique that you can only get from sealed doors, I have no idea what but some kind of unique door only potions or named just some incentive to open the doors.
Hi Sparky! For a sorcerer arena kit, should I prioritize resourcefulness so I get my spells faster or should I get a good bit of max hp and buff duration and go full melee?
Reasons why we need to have Marvolous Chests filled to the damn brim. In fact. Give them more space for items, fill it up, and have some hard coded chances for getting legendary/uniques. idk why Ironmace is so damn stingy with loot. They'll probs add another dupe bug and crash the market anyways.
Well all those keys are like crypto. Its only use is to store money in them based on what people believe is the value but there is close to zero utility.. Noice.
remember that the community put the price tags on these keys, not ironmace, still I think for how rare they are they should at LEAST have some sort of named guarenteed
The player community could choose blue diamonds as the gold store item. Heck, even spider silk (when patches come out when its used in good gear) is a store of value. It doesn't take long to realize that storing gold is an issue if you play long enough.
They just have an arbitrary value so say a skull key is 50k gold, you can sell it later for 50k gold or use is as a trade for some high value named weapon or something. People just use it as a way to convert gold into easily stored pieces that can then be either sold or traded later. When good rolls for named unique items cost so god damn much it becomes much easier to just trade with keys instead. tbh this problem would be fixed right away if gold wasn't stored as physical items in your stash. If you just had infinite gold storage on your character that didn't take up any inventory these keys would tank in price and they would actually be worth using. Maybe. I mean probably not worth it still but at least a reasonable gamble to make when you have enough cash. Then for the case of bags and chests fuck it I dunno make them lootable items that get converted into gold in your stash when you extract with them. Just a big stack of gold you have to haul out of the dungeon. It's kinda cool that you have to worry about physically storing your gold but at this point its more annoying then it is cool with how massive inflated everything is and with the auction house.
I think they should buff the drop rates of uniques and artifacts across the board in these special rooms and if market flood is a concern then lower the drop rates on bosses to incentivise key usage within the game.
TLDR: They are used as a Fiat Currency, Their value is tied to the BEST gear possible, Their is no gold sink strong enough to outvalue the new gold generated, Gold bags and Chests are insufficient as spending currency, and lastly the keys give access to about a 14% chance at an artifact. To be honest I have yet to see a method of value transfer that would fit nicely into the niche that keys fit into, there are pros and cons to a lot of ideas I have had surrounding replacing keys niche.
Thats not on the community. The system is flawed. They need to increase coin storage. Every container should hold double the amount they currently do, or their drop rate need to increase drastically. Additionally they need to increase the cap on market from 50k to potentially 150k. Also you could argue that the trade post should go. If trading and coin storage becomes viable enough, keys will be obsolete as money proxies, and drop to a price where it correlates to the chance of a keyroom giving you a named item.
this game has the economy tf2 has where keys are more valuable than anything else INCLUDING what they unlock, keys are a scam in this game and if you want to make profit off them you hold any you find until near the end of the wipe when the price skyrockets so you can use them or the money you get from them to make bis kits its genuinely depressing
Keys really only seem to worth it for getting 3 people a backpack full of purple and orange collector trash. Which you could do just HRing inferno or even just crypts
luck is like broken right now pretty sure at least for some major items like golden keys 100% no doubt. so yea gl trying to profit off a key now, maybe if you run 500 luck bard when they fix it and key you can profit.
I mean right now the key prices are only so high since the community needs a way to store much greater wealth then what our stashes can hold in gold. Enough of us have collectively decided that they have additional value, which gives them additional value (kind of like real money lol). I actually really like the system where instead of hoarding X currency like in other games, you're actually forced to trade in high value items with varying functionality and monetary value. Gold piles and loot in general has gotten way easier to acquire, and the key loot rooms have just fallen by the wayside. That being said, I wouldn't mind if they maybe added some new unique items and other interesting loot that can only be found in certain key rooms. Maybe some lesser artifacts with some new affects. Increase the named unique spawn rates of the skeleton key. Perhaps the mystical gem could lead to a room that spawns legendary and unique gems frequently, providing a lot of monetary value and giving players a way to farm gems for quests.
This guy is so negative it's so hard to watch, yeah you got bad loot but itd a gamble and everyone already knows that keys are severely inflated and are more so a form of rare currency
Keys are only good if you get lucky in that instance where it gives you a named or a gold chest other then that not worth the 10k+ tag and now it's funny since your other video gems have gone up 5k because everyone things they are going to get a named or a chest every run lol

Why do keys go for 10k to 50k on the market if they are so garbage?
For a chance of a named that would go for 20X the price I”d say it’s ok if u like to gamble
