So agree with you David, White Queen 👑💖 is definitely one of my favorites of Queen. I even love Invisible Man. Freddie's voice is so soulful in White Queen.
Great idea, I love so much, really amazing version !!! Each and every of their interpretations are different for the same song, wathever it is ! It's the best band, and Freddie the most amazing singer I have ever heard. They are so fascinating, and he has such a carism. It' innate with him. Listening to them is a pure moment of happiness !
David, I love your journey to appreciating Queen which reminds me of my own. You always point out interesting moments. Officially addicted to your reactions.
If you really listen to both live versions, Freddie's piano & Brian's guitar during the middle interlude are very, very different. Even Freddie's vocal presentation is different. It just shows they weren't going thru the motions every night. Each performance was unique-sometimes subtly, sometimes obviously. Always amazing.
right! With Queen, there are no 'same songs' even if they are the same songs. The versions are so different in presentation and WeLL worth watching them all!
Always love your reactions, David!!! You are so nice to hear... And of course, this song is one of my very special favourite songs from Queen, and every live version is different, love all...
Please react to You Take My Breath Away at Hyde Park 1976. Just Freddie and a piano, really stripped back and emotional. He uses his falsetto voice and it's amazing!
Love your reactions David, it takes more than once to get a full understanding anyway so repeats provide a more in depth look. I listen to music I love many times. Sharing your pleasure certainly gives me more enjoyment. 😍😍
WATCH - RINSE - REPEAT!!! Don’t mind hearing any Queen song over & over again! In fact, my fav song SOMEBODY TO LOVE is always different in each performance ie, Milton Keynes, Hammersmith, Montreal. WHITE QUEEN is on the Queen II album & part of a three song medley - PROCESSION/FATHER TO SON/WHITE QUEEN. Hauntingly magically beautiful .... Great reaction David 🥰
@@michaelmalone3089 Hello Michael - Yes, Lotta “Jack Ems” for Father to Son and I think DEAD ON TIME would be wild, too. I’m gonna suggest to David to react to the Brian May band live at Brixton Academy doing RESURRECTION/1812 OVERTURE/BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY ... “Jack Em” overdose!!
Of all the reaction videos, yours are the ones I love the best. You hit on the little nuances that so many others miss. It's obvious you're a musician and love music and better, KNOW music. I also really appreciate that you recognize the talent of the entire band, not just Freddie (just - what a stupid word). I'd love for someone (YOU) to do a Queen, from the beginning reaction, start with the first song they recorded and go straight through to the last song they recorded. You can see how they changed over the years, how their music evolved. Obviously you wouldn't need to react to the ones you already have, unless you wanted to. ;-) I think it would be BRILLIANT! Stay well, David!
I have seen your reaction to the other live version - they are a bit different.. but both beautiful and both feature the interplay with Fred on keys & Brian on guitar, etc.. but I just have to note ONE more thing.. see Freddie's glove? silver/chain mail (well, not even sure).. but damn, some other kid made a glittery one-hand glove super-famous (lol)
I HIGHLY recommend subscribing to this chanel if you haven't already...David does a Great job with his reactions and puts alot of time and effort into each and every one...
White Queen at the Odeon Hammersmith in my opinion is much more emotional and dramatic- Freddie begins singing with a glass of Champagne- so you know it’s going to be top drawer! Thank you
Love your reactions! So many people are reacting to Queen but you are by far the best and most entertaining off them all :) And I appreciate that you are a musician so you notice and pick up on all the instruments being played.
One of my favourite Queen songs, but I have never seen this version before. It is different from Hammersmith version, but I loved it too! Both are great! Thanks David!
This is a really great performance, but ‘75 gets most requested. 🤷♂️ I like seeing more of Brian in this taping. And that feeling...It’s the red special’s tone. It sings and at other times it seems to weep. Redoing songs is easy when there are numerous excellent shows beside the 2 or 3 that garner most of the attention, especially if you add in audio only shows. 😃
If you're enjoying this, I think you should check out Liar from the same concert at the Rainbow. I think it will blow your mind. Your enthusiasm is awesome. I check you out everyday.
Never got to see your reaction to the Hammersmith version, which is my favorite version of White Queen because I get so mesmerized by Freddie's piano playing, it's hypnotic and his right hand is almost a blur. That said I'll never say no to watching a different live performance because they're all unique and incredible in different ways. Stellar reaction David. Love your channel.
Another one to check out that has a middle instrumental with the piano & guitars singing to each other is It's A Hard Life from Rock In Rio. Freddie's falsetto ❤
I could have sworn I saw that Live At The Hammersmith/Odeon version reaction from you here in the US. I am dreaming, I guess. I love your excitement in this one - you are a mile a minute in your praise. So cool. Enjoy this so much. Thanks.
I absolutely love when u “revisit” a Queen song. There’s just so much to take in and so many subtle hidden gems buried in Freddie’s music. I listen to Queen over and over, night after night and it still remains fresh .
Great choice doing the Rainbow version instead of Hammersmith part two. I usually recommend Hammersmith simply for it's production quality. But there is a certain rawness to the Rainbow version that is so intriguing. Loved the reaction as always. And please dig deep into the 70's catalog. No disrespect to 80's Queen as I love it just as much. But the 70's stuff is all about watching the band grow. I would argue that Queen created their own genre of music during this time. The entire Queen 2 album is sonic overload. From soft and delicate to simply outrageous. My personal favorite Queen album. I think you have already done March of the Black Queen but in case you haven't it is simply a must. Or off the same album something like Fairy Feller's Masters Stroke. Or just spin a wheel and pick one. They are all worth hearing. Cheers!
Thank you! I never got to see your Hammersmith version because it got blocked here in the US I guess. This is my favorite Queen concert. I would take a time machine back to see this show. But since i was only 8 when they stopped touring I guess I would take any of them. But early Queen is my favorite and smaller venues are my favorite. Please feel free to react to any song from this show and any song as many times as you want. Might I suggest the Budapest version of "Who wants to live forever" for a redo. I love when you said this songs instrumentals are like liquid all over you. Thats the best way to describe those two playing together!
Hi David, big fan your channel! Have you heard the studio version of White Queen yet? You’d love it! Big choral harmonies, very epic! Keep up the great work
This is one terrific song and a special favorite! It showcases Freddie’s tremendous vocals! Thank you because it is slightly different which Freddie did on purpose to give a new light to each performance!!
The other version I think is a little better that shows Freddy and you can hear Freddy playing the piano a lot more this one you could hear the guitar more
It was fun watching you really enjoy this song again. To me the interplay between guitar is just like a duet between two singers. I don't think you have reacted to Roger's song 'Drowse' from the album A Day at the Races. It's him being nostalgic about his teenage days.
I think it is an excellent idea to go back to earlier songs you have reviewed. After hearing the expanded catalog, I think we pick up different things from the early ones that we may have missed and certainly appreciate them more. 3 short but beautiful gems are Lily of the Valley, Nevermore, and Bijou (this one is from Innuendo album) Their early songs are my favorites. Stadium music can get a bit overpowering after a while and the intimate early performances are a welcome break
