Couldn't get the light off til I saw your tip. My man will be happy I did this myself in about 5 mins because you posted this video and I'm so thankful 🙌
Thanks. Your video was VERY helpful, and made this easy for the non-mechanical. Your technique on hand placement when removing the lens was spot on!!
Thanks!
Bill
The most straightforward video I have ever watched thanks
Real simple, clear speaking. Good job.
Perfect video. I didn't have to completely disconnect the taillight assembly, but A+ video nonetheless.
Great video. Changed out the bulb on my wife’s car super quick and easy.
Thank you so much! Just changed my brake light. Your video is a BIG help. Great job!
This was so easy to follow and I was able to change my bulb in under 10 min!!
Great video, thanks!
Sylvania makes an LED replacement now...same 3157 but labeled "LED"
Great video. Thanks for the tip on how to remove it. My driver side brake light went out on my 2015 Escape.
thanks man - got it to work today! one side came off easy and the other... not so much but the video was quick and helpful! Awesome jon!
Thanks so much, it was so easy, I just went on ahead and replaced the other one while I was doing it!
That was very helpful, thanks for providing these explanations.
Awesome video, demonstration and explanation - thanks, bro!
Thank you! Replaced my bulb and it was easy!
Great video thank you so much i'm changing my brake light tomorrow
Thanks a bunch, helped out a lot.
FYI, a 5/16 socket will work too, if one does not have a metric.
Great video did that in 10 mins
Thanks , covered everything perfectly
Appreciate you my guy. I feel smarter listening to you🧐🧐🧐
It worked perfectly. Thanks so much!

Thanks man. 5 minute job. For once, ford didnt totally screw me on the design of this. Would prefer just a door on the inside of the trunk but oh well

Super helpful, they should put a link to this in the manual
Thanks ❤
Thanks
Thank you !!!!
Super helpful ty sub
When replacing any bulb I suggest you wear heavy gloves when removing the old bulb in cas it shatters. Use a clean paper towel or cloth to insert the new bulb so that oils from your fingers do not get on the bulb glass which could cause a hot spot and premature burnout.
Do you have a video on how to remove the inner light when you open the other section of the bulb that you just replaced?
Hi there…thank you for the video. Just a question…so the brake light and the tail light are the same bulb? So when I brake it just illuminates more? I’m so confused as it looks like I have so many lights out in the back…
Thank you! I was able to change them out with no problem!
How about the reverse light bulb?
My mechanic says it's only a passive lens and only houses a bulb for the white backup light....also according to the manual the above red tail light at the top of your lift gate is a lifetime one that shouldn't require replacing..too bad they couldn't all be like that
you didn't show disconnecting/reconnecting the wiring plug. mine was dirty and I didn't know the disconnect mechanism for the plug was underneath and hard to find. you make this look easy, popping the tail light assembly was stuck and difficult
Great info, but what if you don’t have a dental pick?
The plug on ours seems hard to pull out. It's the 2018 model. Is there a clip I need to depress with a flat head or something? Don't want to force it.
The real question is why are there so many people with ford escapes with burnt out tail lights. Probably a faulty harness that the manufacture doesnt want to recall
I’ve had mine since 2019 & this is the first bulb replacement. I have had 4 recalls though, on various parts.
And if you have a tow package on your vehicle, check that out wires could be burnt, causing problems with the back and the front thank you
If you take off the one bolt below the two for the headlight, it loosens the plastic panel below the taillight making it trivial to remove.
HELP! Every thing worked perfectly until I got to the part when you pop the lense off. Just don't have enough power I guess. I have the bolts off, will it come apart to drive it to get the lense popped off?😬
Lol you make it look east.. I cant "bump"the light out lol
I don’t have a socket set, so I’ll be going to O’Reillys
How the heck do I pull this plug?! I don’t wanna break it but I don’t know how to disconnect it.
What is the purpose of the hard plastic plugs at 18 seconds? One flew out into another galaxy and can’t find it. Big deal if one is missing when reassembling?
@@1D10CRACY thanks for the info, was hoping it wasn’t anything necessary for keeping water out etc etc
👍👍👍
What is the name of the tool you referred to as a dental tool? Thanks
Yes. Don't be too forceful trying to remove the plastic cover. Lots of TLC!
"pull this plug" - near impossible w/o possibly breaking and there is no instruction on how to do this. Did anyone find the better way to fix /replace the bulb??
Which plug are you referring to? If you are referring to 1:10, there really isn't a "better" way, it's probably best to unplug it. The plug is a standard Ford plug with a built in release mechanism, you cannot just pull it apart.
Thought there was a bulb which lit the red lens on the lift gate itself..y
Yes I am curious what lights are supposed to be on the lift gate as well…mine is dark and I don’t know what’s supposed to be there! Have you found any answers?
@@karac8997 The clear lenses on the lift gate are reversing / backup lights that should shine white when the gear selector is in R with the engine running. The red section is for decoration only, no bulb, but you could add red LEDs in there or red reflective tape if you wanted to jazz-up the tail of your Escape ❗
Why can't the front blinkers be that easy?!?!
'19 is different. Reverse light is in the rear hatch door
Thanks
DO NOT REMOVE IT THIS WAY! You will be paying 100 dollars for a new assembly once you crack it.
Yup, if you are too forceful with it, it will break. You need to kind of carefully bump it, like I did in the video. Eventually age is going to make them too brittle and they are going to need to be replaced. In my opinion, it is a poor design. I'll pin this comment so other people know to be easy with it.
Get out the super glue lol
@@1D10CRACY 100% poor design, I agree. Just like with anything you're doing for the first time that requires a little force, start soft and gradually apply more force. Don't whole ape mode on it with the first blow ;)
@@1D10CRACY I wear rubber or latex gloves which enable me to slide it out quite easily without the "bump." That said, I can't imagine one breaking or cracking if someone carefully follows your video.
To be honest with you at work just fine thank you very much to the person who uploaded this video
