Liam isn't a killer. He was 9-5 up in the first game and then he got tight. At 9-5 Liam made unforced error to make it 9-6 (Free point to The Dictator). At 9-6 Liam made a poor return to which was gobbled up by The Dictator to make it 9-7. At 9-7 Liam made a basic unforced error of the 3rd ball (Free point to The Dictator) to make it 9-8. At 9-8 Another simple unforced error which Liam netted and that's a point he should have won on the 3rd ball with a more decisive flick so it went to 9-9. At 9-9 another unforced error from Liam. So The Dictator did not really have to do much to get bk into a game he should have lost. And I guess that's The Dictator's greatness. He just does not give you as many free points as others do and forces you to beat him as he wont give you nothing.
First you get to play the best, then you realise you can live with the best, then you get the confidence to beat the best. Then you are the best. Liam is transitioning from living with to beating.

Clearly, Liam's snappy backhand made Ma Long uncomfortable. Ma Long's counter? the all reliable, good & old forehand loop. You can count how many points he won from his forehand.
Pitchford's forehand is woeful, he seems to hit harder on his backhand. He really only has a backhand at the highest level. Ma was terrible, but since Pitchford is one dimensional, Ma would win no matter what.
Ma Long really knows how to win. He seemed a little bit tired but won again.
