When I first saw Great Hotels, I was 11 years old and I fell completely in love with how Samantha Brown explained how to go on a vacation. She made me want to visit the places she went to.
What an inspiration. I have actually run into her twice at an airport during my travels and walked up and talked with her. She is as genuine as she appears and has a very warm and welcome personality.
I used to come home from school, early 2000’s, grab my snacks and move the chair in front of the tv to watch Great Hotels! Think I’m the same age as you ☺️ She was my idol over anyone else in pop culture at the time, I loved this show so much!
She's so awesome. I like her story of a person that had dreams, paid her dues and took advantage of her opportunities. Her appeal and likeability are completely evident onscreen, which is why she's so successful. Her cute, small town America looks are simply an extra.

This is one of my most memorable nostalgia moments as a kid in the 7/8 grade through high school. Now turned 30, I look back and wonder where the time went.
I got to meet Samantha when she was endorsing Ecco shoes in Dallas, TX. She was just like she appears on TV. Such a charming lady with humor and class. I adore her.
I first saw her on a Travel channel show called "Girl Meets Hawaii" that I loved. She has a unique way of engaging her audience by just being herself and letting all of her lovely charms and charisma flow out to whoever she meets. My favorite episode was filmed on the Big Island where she met a Kahuna that taught her some Hawaiian words and history of these sacred places located in the Kailua-Kona area. I have been one of her biggest fans ever since, and enjoy immensely her "Places to Love" show on PBS! She is such a beautiful and delightful lady in every way, and I hope to be lucky enough to meet her someday in my travels to personally thank her for all of the joyful entertainment and helpful info she has always provided throughout her career.
What an awesome woman. I remember coming home from school to watch TLC. I looked forward to her shows and was completely drawn to her passion for what she was doing and where she was when traveling. Watching her changed my life.
I idolized Samantha Brown since I was a child and it comforts me to know that she went to school for Theatre at a big name university and didn't get any jobs that she wanted at all. It comforts me to to hear her say it took her 8 years for her to get randomly discovered because someone saw her local commercial.... It brings me comfort to watch this because I'm in the same boat that she was (except I actually want to be a TV Host, not an actress)..... All I want is to be a TV Host like her but right now I'm really struggling. ...I'm only 24, I know that in this day and age anything can happen in one click (Because now instead of just TV Commercials , we got TH-cam , Digital Video Portfolios , LinkedIn, and TikTok) If it can happen to Samantha, it can happen to me. Lately I have been in such a bad emotional state, and I'm going to make it a habit to watch this video every day until I believe in myself again and until what happened to Samantha Happens to Me.
I remember when I was little, I used to watch her shows and idk why I did that and she’s the best person to give advice for anyone who wants to travel somewhere. She also gives out tours of places and hotels and me as an adult, I got a chance to go places and to stay at hotels and travel the world. Thanks to her and she’s a good traveler and her job is different than everyone’s job. I hope she would make more videos of her traveling and maybe new shows/series of herself later on.

Honestly I've been surprised that she's a Brooklyn girl, at least nowadays. She has that small town look and she seems too "nice" for New York LOL. Very well spoken intelligent lady, always had a thing for her what a blast from the past! She still looks great even in her 50s now.

What determination? If her talents shine so brightly, you wonder why she had to work it so hard. Maybe it's a result of the struggle and work, those that do it so often that they make it seem natural
