well not really. yes they're using others videos, but they link to the video (provides location to original content) and, in turn, more people go watch that video. i get what you're saying, but in the end its a win win. plus when they do videos from bigger TH-camrs, the TH-camrs will find out. and that's a good thing because they know how diffrent groups are reacting to their content, and how much of an impact it may make on the total of entertainment based on how much a group of Representatives for an age like or hate it. i agree with you, but it has 2 sides.
They have permission to use it form the video owners and don't show the entire video as they only use bits where they have an good reaction to the video.

It's a little ironic they're complaining about copyright when their whole channel is based on piggybacking off of other peoples content. 3. Reaction videos take no work at all, the people at Fine Brothers Corporation will do all the editing.
So, it's a good idea to make a reaction channel under their name, the real problem is that they're trying to prevent you from making reaction videos without them, thus creating a "reaction monopoly".

Luckily it's unlikely anyone will ever be able to license let's play (and those that could probably won't). Rooster Teeth owns the youtube channel "let's play" and were early and frequent users of the term, and Dr. Pepper (lol) owns the let's play web domain and they're using it for their "get out and play" initiative. So that genre is probably safe for now.

Let's be honest here. Fine Bros aren't trying to "change" the world ( in a positive way ), why would someone willing to waste their precious time to help unknown people making similar videos to theirs? Unless they're super good guys or something which they obviously don't... they've been threatening to take down other people's reaction videos all this time.
They're doing this for money. That's the only reason. They feel like they're the one invented reaction video concept. Then when other people doing similar things, they got butthurt because they aren't getting money from it. And this is the solution for them.

You're being way to nice Boogie, they already have a history of issuing cease and desist orders to other TH-camrs for using similar titles, thumbnails or mentioning certain words and phrase in their videos. They have already displayed that they will abuse their power so everyone is rightfully scared of them getting more things trademarked in my opinion. You do make some good points throughout the videos but it's pretty obvious from what I've seen at least that the Fine Bros are way more interested in controlling a very broad idea they didn't come up with and then forcing people that want to create similar content to go through their brand and pay them royalties which is absolute horse shit.

You have addressed this so well. I definitely have a problem with the hypocrisy; React would not exist without the original content that was created by other creators. Not to mention, I'm sure that the concept of 'reactions' existed previous to the creation of the Fine Bros channel. I also have a problem with big TH-camr creators -- actually, not creators. Let's call them what they are: brands -- using their popularity and perceived authority to squash smaller TH-camrs. Being a small-time TH-camr is difficult enough as it is, given the level of competition. Most of the people who became big achieved their fame largely due to timing; 2006-2008. Prime years for vloggers, etc. Anyone who started later than that is having an enormously difficult time breaking into the TH-cam industry.
Now this is what I call a proper reaction video. Jinx and his gay brother only stare blankly at their screen for 5-10 minutes, occasionally saying things like 'damn son' or 'did you see that' and 'holy sh*t!'. It's so sad how TH-cam has been ruined. We have to pay 10 bucks to remove ads for a month, major TH-camrs produce low-quality videos only for the profit, and stuff like ReactWorld prevents growth from smaller TH-camrs. It's all been corporatized. The point of TH-cam itself was to share videos, not profit off of them or turn it into a job for the video creators.

As the years past by, everything just got stricter to the point that most small TH-cam channels struggle to even put up content without the fear of being copyright striked or just getting shut down randomly one day. To me 1 million subscribers were really big back than, probrably the biggest but now, 10-40 million are and TH-camrs like FineBros are taking advantage of it. Shits been beeing corporatized ever since Google came in, probably even a little before that. To be honest we don't need anymore of this change, its a pain in the ass and it has never benfitted smaller channels anyways.

You can't trademark what people have naturally done for thousands of years. People have reacted to things throughout human history. Anything that we do, reaction wise, we have to show the source of what we are reacting to - that's not something that they came up with, it's been done for pretty much as long as humans have been alive. They are not the first to ever "react" to something.
I also agree with you that TH-cam was for the "little guy", the every day, average person to have an outlet. To produce something, to react to something, to share something, to make a goofy movie, to create a cartoon, to make skits, etc. NO ONE can "trademark" those things because they are what humans have been doing, even before TH-cam. We made movies when we were kids - no one can come along now and say, "Well, we've been on TH-cam making little movies for 12 years, so now you need to be under our umbrella or we pull your video", that's bull. Of course when TH-cam promotes only the bigger channels, we miss a LOT of quality entertainment that we may never see, or will be very hard to find without scrolling through pages and pages of search results. I understand that TH-cam is in it to make money...of course, they're a business, that's the point - but it would be nice if they would not alienate smaller channels who are putting up good stuff because that smaller channel could be the next big thing....which makes them more money.
Had they stopped at: You can be part of our team of people from all over the world, you can join us and we can elevate you, that would have been fantastic, and I'll bet a lot of people would have loved it, but to imply that any other channel that does reactions is somehow "ripping them off" is utter horse puckey.
That would be like pewdiepie saying: I play games and yell/comment on them, so no one else can do that. He would have no right to say that or try to enforce it. Competition is a good thing, not a bad thing. When people start trying to shut competition down, you have to wonder their ulterior motives. The Fine Bros make great content, but why would they be scared of "the little guy" making content as well? Don't be greedy, Fine Bros. You do you, we'll do us, and there's plenty of room on TH-cam for every creator.
I know I'm late to this party, but sometimes work gets in the way of fun...like browsing TH-cam, staying up on the craziness and drama, and even creating. Despite the Fine Bros rescinding on a lot, these videos need to stay to remind the next person who wants to try something like this about what can happen.

How can they "License" React videos? React videos are literally a person with a picture in picture video of what they are watching. Whats unique about licensing with them and their "format"? Its just fucking reaction videos! You cant trademark reaction videos. Seems like they just want people to sign up so they can get a cut of other peoples revenue...

They *haven't* trademarked reaction videos, they trademarked their format, the question is what do they think infringes on their format, and the answer is probably "not much", but there is a small chance they could go apeshit and start shutting down competitors, which is what most people are afraid of. This has already ruined TH-cam, and TH-cam has done nothing about the abuse. If the worst case scenario happens here, it could be the nail in the coffin.
TH-cam will only give a shit if bigger youtubers are affected. As you can imagine bigger youtubers always get copyright strikes for no good reason but they're always anulled very quickly, when it comes to smaller youtubers TH-cam gives exactly 0 fucks about the abuse of the system which is why smaller youtubers eg I hate everything get their channels taken down, we need TH-cam to put their focus on the fucking creators not the guys who are already set for life.

They have set a precedent that they can and will do this, but it doesn't necessarily extend to everyone, they are only doing this to combat downright copyright trolling.
