    Tokyo IS multiple cities. The PREFECTURE of Tokyo, which is roughly equivalent to a STATE in the US, only covers the main center and western bits of the city. The entire metropolitan area spreads far far far outside the borders of the prefecture, and the borders between Tokyo proper and it's surrounding cities are completely blurred to the point of being indistinguishable. It's the largest metropolitan area on earth

    I actually despise this argument that Germany wasn't punished hardly because they weren't divided. The Ottomans and Austria were multi ethnic empires while Germany was very homogeneous with only a larger Polish-Sorbian minority. Why should such a country deserve to be divided more so or equally as much as countries where the ruling ethnicity is a minority themselve? In my opinion, that argument is premature.

      @@auzee4925 It’s not an idiotic argument; it’s the oft-repeated “harshness of Versailles” Nazi-tier myth that is the true epitome of idiocy. Especially when it comes to reparations, the treaty was by no means harsh relative to other treaties at the time. The fact of the matter is that the treaty failed because it wasn’t enforced, not because it was enforced too harshly.
      If you really want to look at what prompted the rise of German nationalism in the Interwar years, I’d encourage you to read about Dolchstoßlegende and the inherently flawed formation of the Weimar government. Of course, I wouldn’t expect anything other than a surface-level interpretation of common high school myths from Versailles decriers like you.

    Belgian here: the reason for why so few new cars are electric is company cars. There is a big tax incentive on company cars and up until last year there was no real benefit for going electric so people just stuck to what they were used to, but now ICE cars are still getting that tax incentive just way reduced. Also very little public infrastructure available for charging means even less incentive to go electric, but it's slowly getting rolled out (at least on or near highways). But the tide is going to turn in the next couple years, we're probably going to be up in the 40-50 range once people's leases are up and they have to start switching to electric to keep their tax benefits and hopefully the infrastructure will follow then as well.

    • @fluitfluiten
      @fluitfluiten 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      In the Netherlands and Norway (and other countries) the government made sure the charging infrastructure was being built so that people would buy EVs. Meanwhile the belgian government had the brilliant idea to only accept applications for the installation of a public charger from people that had an EV already, when they didn't have 1 within 500 meters of their home.
      Fortunately it's getting better now.

    On the US citizens in the UK thing, a lot of it may be due to the way American citizenship works; anyone born on American soil is born a US citizen. A lot of British people holiday (or vacation) in the US, mostly in Florida, visiting places like Disney World, and more of then than you'd think end up giving birth during the holiday. This exact thing happened with the younger brother of a friend of mine, not a hint of American in his voice, but a fully fledged US citizen, and able to vote in the State of Florida.
    To be entirely honest this sort of thing can be a nuisance as the US taxes people based on citizenship not just residence. As a result people like my friend's little brother have to pay tax to the US, despite deriving no benefit from the services that those taxes pay for, on top of British taxes. And, while this is not taxation without representation, as a US citizen born in the US people life my friend's brother are allowed to vote, to be honest, being able to cast a vote in elections which are irrelevant, to someone living in the UK, who has never lived in the US despite being born there, are not worth the extra taxes.

    Petition for Drew to make a series covering Ace Combat and its multiple universes: [Day 295]
    The CASA C-295 (now Airbus C295) is a medium tactical transport aircraft that was designed and initially manufactured by the Spanish aerospace company CASA. Work on what would become the C-295 was started during the 1990s as a derivative of the successful CASA/IPTN CN-235 transport aircraft. On 28 November 1997, the prototype performed its maiden flight; quantity production commenced shortly thereafter. In April 1999, the Spanish Air Force became its launch customer with an order for nine military-configured C-295s; two years later, the type was declared operational with the service. Further orders for the C-295 would promptly follow. Following the incorporation of CASA into the pan-European aeronautical group EADS in 2000, it was redesignated as the EADS CASA C-295.

    I'm not sure, but I think Belgium has such a low number of electric cars, because most people dont buy their own car but get one from their work (which they can use for personal use). I suspect these don't count towards the percentage, since lots of these would've at least been hybrid.

    Breaking up Germany after WW1 wouldn't have worked. The dismemberment of Austria-Hungary did not spark outrage in its territory for one single reason: the Empire was already a divided mess, kept together with super glue. Its people accepted the division because most of them were looking forward to it.
    Germany was the opposite: a young nation brimming with national identity. Had the Allies forcefully broken it up, there would have been riots, and it would have reformed with a vengeance shortly after.

      Exactly.
      The Russia round (1:30) confused me because St. Petersburg should be much further east. It's certainly east of Rostov-on-Don, Krasnodar, and whatever that third dot is.¹ Even Moscow looks east of St. Petersburg here.
      Moreover, Moscow, Kazan, and Yekaterinburg are all about the same latitude, with Yekaterinburg 1° further north. From the dots, it looked like Yekaterinburg was the southernmost of the three. Kaliningrad looks especially ridiculous.
      ¹ Voronež. I had to look it up.

    It is odd that electric cars aren't more popular in the smaller countries. I mean, the big issue of electric cars is their lack of range, and long recharge time, but in smaller nations, most residents will be travelling less distance, negating the electric car's biggest flaws

      People are not really travelling further in bigger countries. I mean on a day to day basis the size of your country doesn't change anything and to go on vacation, you can cross borders as you want.

    • @Tuning3434
      @Tuning3434 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Really depends on what you mean for smaller countries. In the Netherlands the new cars sales have dropped, a lot. Also we have quite a significant part of the population that has a lease car from work, and those had the largest insurge of hybrids and electrics a few years back when tax laws where a bit more lenient (a lease car is considered part of your taxable income, but lower rates where used for hybrid, plug in hybrids and full electrics... which had the side effect where petrol and diesel Sedans where being replaced by Mazda CX'es with minimal electric range, so that ended).
      Also a big issue is that even residential area's tend to be considerably more urbanized, where quite a lot of homes don't have a garage, a personal driveway or even a front garden big enough to house a car, making it more difficult to recharge.

      As a central-eastern europe citizen I can tell : it is often because of price of electric cars compared to gasoline / diesel , as we dont make so much money like Norway or Germany , electric cars are very expensive for us here
