I bought a 1964 Strat from Norm back in the summer of 1979 when he had a tiny shop in Reseda. I still have it!
this is mak at his best, no jokes, no silliness, just doing what he does best, talking/playing classic guitars. Peace, Mark.
"I don't have a strat today"
y'all have got to do more of these
That ring knocking on the necks in these vids is killing me
Amazing strats!
oh cool i seen the telecaster rare guitars i herd you say you had one on the stratocaster on the telecaster piece i tuned in just to see awesome ....
Mark's enthusiasm is rock hard ,nice
Love it
Damn I want that sunburst 62 and the CBS transition Jan/ 65! also that post CBS big headstock four bolt 71 is very rare and priceless!
Oh wow a 58 lefty! I'm a lefty and there are a surprising number of lefty Fenders around if you look for them. Some collectors have told me in the past that Fender never made Lefties in the 50's, well there's another one to prove them wrong! Thanks for these videos they are all very interesting.
There are a few lefty Telecasters/Esquires around from that time period as well. I'm thinking that they were special ordered. Most guitar shops didn't stock lefty instruments, especially in the 50's where being left handed was considered taboo. At that time period, they were still forcing left handed people to be right handed in schools.
The 1971 yellow strat Yes !!!
Hey! love the videos.. please do more Gibson firebirds and how about more epiphone guitars..
I had a 1952 Telecaster with the tweed case. And all the goodies that came with it. Butterscotch Blonde. The switching of the 52 was Bridge, Neck, and Neck pickup rolled off. I traded it to a friend for a Hot Wired Customized Telecaster. I would put it at about 60's or 70's period. I sold the Telecaster. He still plays the 52 to this day. I wished I still had my 52.
There is something oddly sad about all those instruments sitting on those shelves.
+jobless205 Yeah, like wild animals kept in a ZOO
I was thinking of adopting a couple of them but then realised the prices.
+Jeroen van der Velden : I hate seeing dead guitars hanging in glass cases; that always reminds me of stuffed/mounted animals...
Max Rockatansky Although there are probably some permanent keepers back there, this is just his stockroom. Just like with any store, not everything can go out on the floor at the same time. And maybe some of these are kept in the quiet back there for just the right buyer. Remember, Norm's caters to some very high-level collectors and rock stars.
Norms is world renowned for rare and vintage guitars, he has connections with a lot of people in the music world so his guitars sell like hot cakes whatever the price.
That must be like the best job ever working with all those guitars.
Mark I love you how are you talk about guitars or different guitars
Hey guys! Do a resonator and/or an EDS!
i neeeed that lefty more then i need oxygen that exactly the strat i have been looking fore maple neck sunburst the whole 9yards
all I can say is WOW !!!!
4:15 "Coral Pink" The pink color in the Fender lineup was Shell Pink. Coral Pink is faded Fiesta Red. It's an attractive and convincing color, but alas Fender never offered "Coral Pink."
they offered tahitian coral pink but it is SUPER rare. only seen one
Left handed Stratocaster 1958 So cool.
its so hard to find a good 3 tone sunburst with the red showing up noticeable... the 2 tone is cool but what a nice looking guitar the 3 tone with the brilliance of the red and the yellow the black is cool but those other two need to be there two..
Hey guys,
Is there any chance of doing a Stash Series video with some Les Pauls?
Cheers!
Why leave the tremolo arm on while it's in the case ?
Wow, looks like you guys used to carry Strats.. Lot's of Fender cases and some nice strats...
verra nice
can you guys do a stash series on Les Pauls please?
I SECOND THAT
Storing a 1962 strat in a hard case with the whammy bar on can't be healthy?
OH MAH GAHD I WANT AN EARLY 60'S STRAT ERRGHHH
LEFTY!!! :0)
hmm, too bad fender doesnt let you custom order necks now days...most of the humbucker strats come with rosewood, but i prefer maple
That candy apple red strat....
OMG a lefty! :)
oops my bad! I guess they did put the stripe in the older ones
Holy shit mark looks young af
He would have to modify the nut....that reduces the value from its unmodded condition
He should string that left right like hendrix
this is just like the wand store from harry potter, you know , the guitar choose you *O*
He makes my ball shrink looking at the way he holds those vintage strat..very rough..😬
fucking brilliant video. great store. this is guitar porn
What I find funny, is vintage Fenders seem a dimeadozen and are less expensive than vintage Gibsons.
Take off the rings. These high priced historic GTRs should be fully respected...
les paul pleaseeeee.
jetzt fehlen nur noch die säue denen man die sündteuren stratocasters vorwerfen könnte...................
Norms store is one of those stores you dream of being like the millionth customer and getting to pick 5 things in the store for free..lmao
skunk stripes on the necks of older 50's and 60's strats???? I kinda **** doubt it
Tell Mark to grow a "Clutch beard".
If he's a fan of the band "Clutch", he'll know what you're talking about.
Hendrix, Gales, Albert King, Doyle Bramhal II, Paul McCartney, Cobain, Iommi. I'm a righty and I even know that was a dumb comment.....
Nice gold chains Mr T
I really miss all the complaining in the comment section, the way Mark triggered (as the cool kids would say) all the old timers with his jackets and rings was oddly satisfying!
Mark looking all hunch backed.
lol
It's an amazing collection but just a shame that they're just collecting dust. The average player won't be able to drop $25,000 for a guitar which is just a crime. They should attempt to make them more affordable and jack up the prices for celebrities to offset the price but it's just the opposite. These guitars deserve to be heard and played and not just by the elite. An established player would appreciate these guitars far more than a kid learning to play but everyone should get a chance to own some of these. Norman should have a giveaway contest every week of each type of guitar just to give a chance to the guy that'll never make it and plays for the love of it. If I had that 58 strat I know i would pass it on to my children because it would mean that much to me. I would love it and play it but your average player will never be able to afford these amazing guitars. I'm not saying you shouldn't make a profit but you should give the average guy a chance to get one because your average player would cherish it for a lifetime and his children lifetime and so on. Keep up the good work guys in collecting these. They're absolutely beautiful
Bruceolee. You're overlooking that they're running a business. It's sad like you say but they aren't a public utility providing essential services. I imagine Norm bought these guitars as investments like a currency speculator. So, it makes sense he will be holding out for top dollar. Sad but true. At least we get to see some of these great instruments.
Bruceolee Aaahhh the free market escapes so many. They are worth what someone is willing to pay. Now if someone should attain skills valuable enough to exchange for a guitar like this then we have equity. If someone devotes the time and effort into a craft and accumulates the wealth to own nice things.... But simply breathing ? One of the things I would like to do before they lay me out is build a studio where talented kids can work on their craft. I WOULD populate it with exceptional instruments to use and experience. But it wouldn't be for just kids that wanted to make noise... or just breath.
The average human can't... Yeah, average upper CEO or something, but I know lawyers that are pulling 80k a year... Working for justice has its drawbacks.
Norm worked really hard to earn his place and to own all these guitars. In America were able to work hard and make anything happen. Life's not fair. That's the name of the game. You have to be a fighter and get yourself ahead in everything you do. Then you can make that guitar happen. Free enterprise baby. Capitalize on that shit
Maybe not the average player but that's most likely not their target audience. I mean, Norm's been in business for years. Someone is buying these guitars. I can't even dream of affording one or even holding one but I am glad I can at least see and hear them on the Internet.
F-57 bring on the 54
(knock) 0:32 (knock) 0:40 (knock) 0:45 (knock) 2:20 (knock) 3:07 (knock) 4:43 (knock-scrape-knock) 4:50
I'm here to fuck things up for anyone who wanted to say "first"
It's obviously a joke. How is it going being completely devoid of humor in your life? Working out for ya? Cobain on that list? Really? Um, no.
OMG he's almost shaved that day.......he looks like a homeless man half the time.
