Would just like to thank you for posting this video it all takes time to do but i think you did a very good job. Lifted pin 8 . There was a video card over it which make it more difficult when shorting it out but work brilliant. I did contact dell to start with but they gave me a few passwords that did not work. thanks again.
I lifted pin 5, the SDA pin, since I thought it would do better than lifting just the power pin, possibly choking the SM bus. However, it did *not* work for me. I am going to lift pin 8 as you said. In my case, the chip is under the video board, so I can't use the screwdriver trick. :( I think I need to add a switch on a wire to do the trick, to be able to place the video board and turn the machine on.

How do you take the top apart? I was able to remove all the bottom screws but still cant get to the motherboard. Do you have a vid for that?
