Assalamu Alaykum! This was such an amazing video! Thank you so much for sharing! I have to say that I do relate to most of the things you said. When I first started wearing the hijab, about 4 months ago, I was extremely scared but of course I knew that it was the right thing to do. I remember how before wearing it, I told my mom about it and I was simply scared to tell her, not because she wouldn’t like the idea (she’s hijabi herself 😅) but because I was simply nervous. Fast forward, i asked my mom if we could purchase a few things on Modanisa and a few days later, we ordered. I was planning on wearing it the day my school started and I was starting high school, so it was quite scary. Alhamdulillah, thanks to Allah (SWT) my order came at the perfect time. So, I purchased some hijabs and under scarves and a few clothing and when I looked at myself in the mirror, I didn’t have much of a reaction (since I wore the hijab at home for prayers and stuff) but it still felt different knowing that I would have to wear it outside. Anyways, the first time I tried wearing it outside was when I went out for a walk with my mom and it felt super different. Then, the next day, it was practically the first day of school and I can’t tell you how nervous I was. The thing is, no one said anything. All my friends who saw me, they said NOTHING. They treated me the exact same. When I got lost at school, there was a bunch of hijabi and non hijabi girls that helped me and it just made me feel so good.
Anyways, what I’d advice everyone is, just go for it. Even if you think that you don’t have the best relationship with Allah (SWT) but you know that it is the right thing to do, I’d say go for it. InshaAllah, Allah will open your doors. For me, if you asked me a year ago when I’d wear the hijab, i would have responded that I would wear it one day. But, deep down, I knew that I didn’t want to wear it. In fact, at some point in my life, I hated the hijab. I have no clue why, but the fact of just wearing it and going outside, made me feel super uncomfortable. Of course, that was when I didn’t know the meaning of the hijab.
So, really, i’d say make good research about the hijab and keep in mind it’s not just the piece of clothing but also how you talk, walk, etc…For me, the thing that enlightened me was reading the verse in the Quran. Having hijabi friends outside of school also really helped me (considering that they were all younger than me). Then, id say take it step by step. Try wearing it outside, to the masjid and stuff like that. I just went for it, but it’s of course up to what makes you comfortable. There’s also a bunch of hijab stores online where you could purchase good modest clothing and hijabs. The first place I purchased was Modanisa and the shipping was super fast (it came less than a week) the only thing is that their hijabs aren’t that great although I still wear them every single day. Keep in mind, that some of there hijabs are super long, so it’s good to check the sizes and stuff like that.
Anyways, sorry for the very long comment but thank you so much for this video sister! It’s great hearing other people’s journey and relating to them! Hope Allah (SWT) keeps us on the straight path and may He guide us so we never take our hijabs off and may He grant us the patience to have it on our heads until we die inshaAllah! May He guide us all and enlighten our hearts with His mercy and His forgiveness! Ameen! ☺️🤲🏻

Wa alaikum salam sis! This comment is everything and more (so I'm going to pin it at the top of the comment section ☺️)
Thank you for sharing your story ! And I love that you've touched on the fact that hijab isn't a piece of cloth. it's so much more than that! I'm going to try to explain that more in future videos insha'Allah. Unfortunately for many sister it's the piece of clothing they have a hard time with...

The word HIJAB is used in the Quran but NOT for Ladies.
They took the desert clothing that is needed in sand storms and called it religious. Other religious groups including men, women living there were already wearing it for a long long time.
in Quran 24.31. The word is KHIMAR.
      Khimar just means COVERING
(They’ve added head, hair, face to the word “covering”)
They give the example of another word “khumr” from the same root - even Khumr (intoxicants/alcohol) does not cover the outer head/hair BUT it COVERS the ability of the mind from inside.
      Quran 24.31 (part)
//… put forth the KHIMARs over the JAYBs …//
      “yadribna bi’Khumur’ihinna ala juyoob’ihinna”
      [Plurals: khumur, juyoob]
Put forth the COVER over the Jayb.
Please notice it just gives importance to:
      “Cover the Jayb”
      Jayb means OPENING
      Verify JAYB in
      //Quran 28.32 (part)
      “yadaka fee jayb’ika” //
“put your hand in your Jayb”
(clearly a pocket or opening in the dress)
      - most translate Jayb as chest/bosoms coz that’s where they understand the Jayb is)
Quran 33.59 is another verse BUT see what it says in that verse also:
      “… alay’ihinna min jalabib’ihinna…“
      [Plural: JALABIB]
      “…JILBABs over themselves…”
JILBAB= outer clothing (wearing of decent clothes over the underwears as OUTER CLOTHING)
Please NOTICE:- No head, hair, face cover even in this verse.
      It’s simple as per Quran:
      • in Q24.31 - COVERING over the Jayb
      • in Q33.59 - Decent OUTER CLOTHING

I'm 41 yrs old. Took my shahadah on 10/28/2022. I went to Goodwill and did not find any dresses warm or suitable for Islam. I will try Salvation Army next. People mention Modanisa but my budget does not fit that. I have no dresses at home and the jeans I have are skinny jeans. I know go figure huh. I live in BK as well and things are expensive. Since modesty is the way, I want to make sure what I buy will last, cause a lot of the stuff I see sisters wear gets a snag and it's gone, or the fabric is so thin it's not going to hold up. I thank you for making this video. I've been watching your videos since my shahadah and may Allah SWT reward you for your good deeds in this life and the Hereafter

Masha'Allah sister! You can definitely shop for modest clothes at your local stores like H&M, Old navy or even ASOS. You just need to make sure to layer and dress properly. With the colder month ahead it's simpler. You can use shirts you already have with cardigan and invest in a pair of trousers or 2 :)
      Ameen sister! Thank you

*Take a sincere intention and Ask Allah to guide you to become a hijabi
      * Try to wear more modest wardrobe staples, like long sleeve shirts, cardigans to cover your bosom, and dresses more often :)
      * slowly increase the time you wear your hijab after prayers, then try to run errands with it. Next thing you know it'll become a part of your personality insha'Allah 🤲🏽

Asalamualykum. I believe you started the hijab in the perfect way. You just went for it to the degree of your belief in Allah and Islam, which shows others that you are confident, even if they were shocked. I started in a similar way. Also, I believe Allah tailors the “hijab experience” to each individual. For example, Allah has made it easy for me to know which colors suit me. So I just ordered a bunch of hijabs in those colors, which made me excited to wear hijab. So in a way, Allah helped me, you know? Each person will have a unique first experience that fits their own personality and level of faith, Alhamdulillah ♥️

A few people have asked me and insha'Allah I'll try to incorporate my answer in one of my future videos. But I think modesty does not belong to a religion. For me, it has to do with the desire to protect oneself and having values. I can't quite explain it, but when I wasn't a hijabi I was so focused on appearances, seeking validation and being attractive that it made me vain, insecure and focused on the wrong things.

Yes sister, know that I am praying for you. Give yourself credit for starting to observe modesty with your head wrap. Be proud of you, I know I am 😊
You should see becoming a hijabi as a journey, not an end goal. covering is only the first part, the others are deeper and more important.
Improving your character, becoming a better muslim woman, getting closer to Allah (swt) and emulating the teachings of our Nabi (saws). that's the purpose of hijab. To focus on the inward.
If you read the verses of the Quran mentioning the hijab and veils being drawn upon our hair, chest and bosom, that is honestly all you need. The Quran IN ITS ENTIRETY IS THE TRUTH. We cannot pick and choose what's convenient. Some parts are hard to internalize for me too. But I know Islam is the truth and that Allah preserved the holy book and will continue until the end of time.

Buy some hijabs you love first. Just scroll through some websites and see what the models look like with their hijabs. You will feel inspired:)

Trust me when I say this it’ll come to you naturally 😊 and when it does you feel Allah’s guidance and you yourself will be self aware of not wearing the hijab Subhan Allah! Keep asking for guidance and the rest is going to be easier for you.

I'm scared about what my family will think, I have a friend sending me some Hijabs (I'm Muslim as of recently, anxiety is bad rn sorry for my grammar) my family sees Islam as really extreme because of how the media portrays it, If any sisters see this please I need advice I'm super super scared

Masha'Allah May Allah keep your Deen steadfast and strong sister, Ameen! I completely understand what you're saying because for a long time, I thought Islam was a religion of extreme (even thought I was born and raised in a Muslim Family). The truth is ignorance and the way the Media portray Islam pushes us to think that way.
However, I think the best way you should face this situation is by being an ambassador of our faith. Show them that Islam is about Kindness, modesty, standards and above all respect. Respect of others, of ourselves and above all, the one and true God.
Actions speak louder than words :)
For the hijab, I have a many videos on the subject you can find on my channel to help you. But I'll just say this. Transition at your own pace. It's a long journey but it's one you'll never regret taking insha'Allah.
