Great, another song for slap beginners. Every bass teacher on the internet seems to repeat the same three songs when recommending beginner slap basslines. This one is new to me.
Thank you so much for posting this! Im going to spend a lot of time learning these lines. And I really appreciate how you broke down each line for a beginner like me
Another great offering by Dan Hawkins; thanks again. This is Howard. I wanted to recommend the TH-cam Channel pdbass. Lots of good musical history there. That is something I know that you have explored. Quite often he will even break down elements and names of specific players of various parts. One I checked out a few months ago was "Why is Tower of Power So Funky". There are many more and I love the historical information that you offer [ I purchased several of your books] and also pdbass. I am still practicing from 2 to 4 hours per day depending on my schedule. Keep up the great work that you are doing. Blessings
I can imagine guys who have never heard "Stratus" wonder what the hell that simple line is doing in here. But you have to hear the original to fully understand the pulse of the bass line.
Really great choice of tunes ! Thanks Dan & A late Happy christmas to you ! 🎄
Excelllent lesson. I think the Billy Cobham Stratus bassline was sampled by Massive Attack for their track Safe From Harm.

As per usual, another great lesson Dan. 👍

Always excellent, professor.

Hi Dan, thank you, excellent lesson. A one-groove bass line I like is Rick James, Give It To Me Baby. It’s got a quick double pluck element to it.
Great example!
Loved this. Good to try and work out (transcribe) the baseline first, before looking at the music/tab also!

i would add to that EW&F's "let's groove" - clue's in the name my friend... groove on!
Great choice!
Amazing lesson as always! Thanks Dan, we appreciate all you do
Thanks very much.

Have really been enjoying learning the bass using your vids - still a bit lost re: scales but getting there
You’ll get there. Stick with it…

Nice one Dan.. as usual & thank you.
Isn't that Stratus number the bass line from Massive Attack's - "Safe from Harm" or vice verca?
I’ll have to check but it’d be borrowed from Stratus if so.
