When I got near the end of Dear Henry, Love Edith, I thought it was going to completely redeem itself because it didn't go in the direction I thought it was going to, but then I later realized there were still some big problems that it never addressed. It's frustrating when it's Christian fiction that still has some of the stuff we don't like from secular fiction.
Absolutely! I wish faith was weaved more throughout the story. For a Christian fiction, I feel like it was mostly just plopped in the end, and it still wasn’t much. It read more like a clean romance, which is fine. But still had things I didn’t enjoy about it. 😆
I totally agree about Dear Henry review! I couldn't believe so many of the booktubers I listen to raved about it. It was awful! Thanks for being so honest :) Always enjoy your videos !
I read Dear Henry last year I think. I was really disappointed. I think I rated it 4 on goodreads and I have no idea why! 🙈 I loved the idea so much, like there was so much potential with the letter writing and mistaken identity!
I edited out some of the things I said on DHLE, but I also felt the need to rant. 🙈 I was like, “Oh boy, this needs a disclaimer.” 😂 You might enjoy Better Than the Movies! There was some light language, kissing, and obviously teenagers who could tend to me a little teenagery and immature 😂 but overall I really enjoyed what she did with the story. ☺️
Glad you liked The Hiding Place. I have read it twice because it is so inspiring. The movie is also. I'm not a fan of Dear Henry- either and have not finished it yet.🎹🎻
Was so excited when I saw you had posted a video. ❤. Looking forward to the discussion on Dear Henry, Love Edith. I see your reason for a one star book. Loved seeing Jovi, she is adorable. What was your favorite part of The Hiding Place besides her release? I prefer middle grade to YA, though still trying both. 🎼🎹🎧
Thank you, Susan! To share my favorite parts of the Hiding Place would possible be minor spoilers, but I will just say the way God used fleas, the chapter on the Lieutenant and Corrie’s interaction with him, and just each piece of the story where you could see how God was protecting and teaching them. 🥹💕
My favorite chapter was the Lieutenant. My favorite scene was when Corrie saw Betsy’s earthly body for the final time. I’m still trying to decide if the nurse and her friend saw Betsy that way as well. Just gave me goosebumps.
Hey! Happy belated anniversary! 🎉 I recently read My Darling Girl, the possession book by Jennifer McMahon. I know you're not going to read it, but I just wanted to share with you that, because of the emotional abuse my son and I went through from my own mother, it hit soo close to home 😅 Jennifer is brilliant! Thanks for a great vlog, and, Hi Jovi! ❤
Hi friend! Just subscribed. Absolutely loved this! Really looking forward to reading The Hiding Place. I actually ended up with the sequel first because my local library had it for sale for 50 cents.
About 2 years ago I donated over 182 spooky middle grade or secular fiction books. I still try to read spooky middle grade occasionally but I always DNF them! I read about 90% Christian or clean now and I am feeling so much better! But I think what you’ll find is some Christian books don’t really seem Christian so beware of that. I also dnf’d Dear Henry Love Edith, some said it was so clean but I didn’t find that to be true and how dumb are the they for not catching on sooner?! I didn’t like it at all. I also tried to read Love in Tandem by the same author and dnf’d that too. I’m loving the direction of your channel. I found you when I was reading spooky middle grade but as a fellow Christian myself I have been feeling that pull to really give my heart the space to feel good about what I’m allowing into my mind. ❤
🎧 I meant to read The Hiding Place this month and forgot all about it. 😢 I’ll have to still pick it up and watch Krista’s discussion videos. And yes, we already talked about it but I agree wholeheartedly about Dear Henry, Love Edith. 😬
I’m still in the middle of Dear Henry, Love Edith I really need to finish it. I do feel like before Henery’s girlfriend left she did say something like let’s take a break to think about our relationship while she she went to do a movie while she was in the diner and I feel like her character was written in a way that made it seem like she doesn’t let him get a word in cause she is talking so much. (Fun fact I was typing character and my phone auto corrected it to cheater lol I died laughing and hope you get a laugh from that also.) still even though “they were on a break” his mind shouldn’t be on another woman until he has broken up completely with her that I agree about. I feel like the reason I haven’t finished it to be honest is cause the story started going down hill when their cute letter writing has stoped and now they pretty much know who each other are but not telling them. I just don’t know about it tbh I will see how it goes for the second half of the book. All that to say I can see why it’s giving you the ick but I also see Hannah’s side too of the Ross and Rachel and they were on a break lol! I really want to read the hiding place it just sounds so good! I also have Better than the movies on my shelf and now I need to make time to read it hopefully next month I can! Loved your vlog!🩷🩷🩷☺️🍿🎥🎬📼🎞️🎧

I wanted to read Dear Henry Love Edith for your book club but had life issues come up and I won't be able to finish it in time.
No worries at all! 🫶
Apparently a bunch of people where I live saw the northern lights & I completely slept through them 😭
I thought very similarly about Dear Henry Love Edith! I rated it 2 stars, i wish id DNFd it
I’m glad I’m not the only one!
@@ABookLikeYou I read it a year ago and at the time, I had never heard anyone say anything negative about it, very confusing to me lol
No green thumb for me either 😅
Hey, it’s me!
