+SeaJayBelfast There was a small fee payable to do the tour which you pay for at the Interpretive Centre. The talk last about 10 mins, From there you drive down to the base of the wall, where a tour guide will check your ticket and walk you through the tunnels in the wall. You dont need a guide for the top of the wall part.

The construction of this dam was done after a military quo in Lesotho in 1986, and, this quo was initiated by the US government, UK government, and, the South African apartheid regime. The aim of this project was to supply water to the mines and industries of South Africa which are located in what is now Gauteng province, and, most of those mines and industries were owned by US and UK companies, hence why the US and UK government facilitated the military quo in Lesotho in 1986. Many people living in the rural areas were displaced by the construction of this dam and subsequent dams, and their agricultural land and pastures were destroyed by this dam. In short these dams have destroyed the livelihoods of many people living in the highlands of Lesotho, while it benefitted the US and UK companies operating in the Gauteng province of South Africa. This project was initiated by the apartheid government of South Africa which did not care about the rights of black people in Southern Africa. When committing all these crimes against black people in Southern Africa, which included attacking people in neighbouring states the South African apartheid was supported by countries such as The US, UK, Israel and some countries in Western Europe.

Africa has some 950 large dams of which 580 dams are in South Africa. Nearly all these dams were built by the Apartheid regime from 1948 to 1988 and not one dam was ever built by the ANC Government.

Was this project brought to reality by the apartheid government?
Beer Stein Records show it was completed in 1996 two years after the apartheid government lost control in SA. The term would have been about 4 to 5 years to build it - and the planning would have gone back 5 years before that, so yes the original conception would have been under the old government.

@Rosa Mona That is true. The people benefitting from the water are in Gauteng- hundreds of Kms away. While the people down stream from the dam are cut off from the river and water supply. So unfair.
