I don't think that he had other option. He put out the message that maybe he doesn't come. The response must have been him pure horror. Only some experts try to make it a discussion topic, but people didn't really cared about it. For suer he expected that people demand him to come. So, it didn't take many days that he now inform that he is coming.
Furthermore, he for sure doesn't like some real royal to take his place in the ceremony, when already so many demand that he should be kicked out of the IG.
And then comes Netflix and his PR team&agency. All of them likely knew that he is going to Nigeria. If there ever would be an opportunity him to meet with the King, they could stamp the trip as a royal visit and explain that Charles and Harry discussed about the trip and so they can sell it as Meghan&Harry representing the UK, royal family and Commonwealth leader (who King is) on that trip.
I just hope that Charles don't meet him, but find could reason not to do that.

I read somewhere that Invictus Games didn’t want her at their games. I thought I read that KC said if you want to visit bring your children. So that put a stop to that. They are so transparent.
I had heard that too. KC had said, either all four of you come to visit or none of you.

Yet this year, magically, A's birthday doesn't seem to present a problem to H coming to UK on the same day and then both parents going straight on to Nigeria for an extended period away from home. Unless they are taking the kids along, too - and when do they ever do that? - it looks like last year's histrionics was pure manipulative posturing. Good to have it confirmed.
