      This is the most frustrating part of when strikers fight grapplers. You typically see a diminished version of the striker because they’re trying to be careful to defend the take down while striking. Same phenomenon with anyone who fights khabib or Islam. You never get to see their full on striking as with Masvidal here.

    • @joshuavanzuydam5044
      @joshuavanzuydam5044 2 ปีที่แล้ว +42

      Not necessarily true. Just that Colby wrestling is at a higher level than Jorges striking and defense is.
      There are many Cases were the striker beats the wrestler and vice Versa. Izzy vs Vettori is a prime example. Izzys striking and defense was better than Vettoris wrestling.

    Jorge is legitimately done as a contender for any weight class especially at 37 going on 38.Masvidal seems to have a rough weight cut this week.I can tell from the Thursday press conference that he looks that he had a rough weight cut.That’s not a good sign against a wrestling guy that has 25 minute gas tank. He’s at the money fight stage of his career like Nate Diaz.
    Colby can make 1 more run for the belt if his durability holds up(receiving 5 knockdowns in his last 4 fights tells me that he needs better boxing defense).He can’t afford to get hit like that at 34.

But man these layoffs have been brutal for him. Fought once in 2020 on 6 days notice, fought once in 2021 both fights against the P4P 1 and WW champ: when they announced this fight I was happy for the attention and payday both guys would get; but I knew this was AWFUL match up for Jorge after a year off. Coming off a Lay off fighting a wrestler; pressure, pace fighter like Colby would be a nightmare for anybody. And man it was tougher to watch as a Jorge fan. Couple good moments, but being real man that was beatdown. Colby was tagging him up and mixed with the takedowns and ground control it was hard as a Jorge fan. I hope he made bank this fight, because man I’m not sure he Fights for a title ever now. Still a huge fan And wish him the best in his career. He’s not acknowledging Colby wrestling and striking.

      His cardio was always pretty good. I just think he wasn't used to the pressure Colby put on him.

      I might be wrong but he’s never had good cardio at 170. Mia grappled him to death. Wonder boy schooled him standing. Usman did…..well we all know what happened. At this point his only chance at winning is against other strikers. Oh and he needs to go back to 155

      The cardio is more of a lifestyle factor. How you live day to day and train.. you only fight like 2-4 times a year

      Name one fighter he fought with a past as high as colbys. Even during the nate fight he was gassed. Colby’s gas tank/willpower is what's weird here, not masvidal’s inability to keep up
