"Count... graduation as loss" ... that really hit hard. God is really trying to teach me this right now. 2 weeks until my final exams ever at uni, and God is disciplining me to put Him first, get rid of my idolatry for education/success, and to deny self. All of my peers are studying right now and as much as I want to study right now to try and get the best grades so close before exams, God is making me seek Him first. It's definitely painful killing the flesh but I know that God knows best. We should do everything for Him so the moment we value and put anything above Him, and the moment we find our worth in anything other than Him, we are committing grave idolatry.

I'm praying for my family because that is what they live for vacations an retirement, now days Christians don't ask God for his will for there life now they take there plan before God an tell him to bless it! thank you Lord for changing my way of thinking an praying.

Wonderful and enlightening message to the young people who are are running after the world (Job money fame luxury life ) .. I regret that I too traveled in that path.
Not many people are willing to lose "friends" for this message, I dare you to try. Blessed is this man of God who risk the friendship with the world to preach this truth.

True that. I hope to not waste my life, but live purposefully. whether i live 42 years or 82 years. it really doesn't make a difference. i have seen how life just gets wasted even by family members. it gets worse when they reach that retirement - life has become just more empty. daily. its such a shame. i wouldn't want to live like that ever. no teenagehood, middle-age nor "retirement" money goals is worth one wasting their lives! the life that Christ gives is too wonderful to just waste.

I too am in that stage where I'm looking for God's guidance in my life. I have been worldly, been lustful and greedy. All of these things are only chaining me in stead.

That, my friends, is what is called "A message from God". Sure it was Piper's voice....but it was God's prompting and instructions. May I live like this...one day at a time...so that one day it can be said "This life was not wasted."

Amen. I would definitely want to spend a bit more down time as a senor but do it well. Spend quality time with grandchildren or as a mentor to underprivileged youth. Being a mentor to young men like my elders in a college men's group setting. Sitting on a beach or in the Norwegian mountains, writing a couple or so books. Taking the time while writing to observe nature, pray, and meditate on God's word --not rush. Leading a quiet contemplative seniors prayer hour group. Pooling extra money together with some other seniors to create a faith based young men's rite of passage weekend. Visiting prisoners - I was jail for a week once. Teaching and one on one tutoring inmates in a writing class. Singing in a choir. Showing young folks how to do outdoor maintenance and construction work at a Christian retreat camp. Speaking at my Alama Mater. Representing a local church on Alama Mater campus with a prayer/food outreach. Traveling to another country like Spain or Germany where the church has dwindled to share the Gospel. NOT blowing lots of money at Disneyland or on a island beach getting drunk. "Pay it forward" and pass the torch. If I do useful stuff like that at the end of my life, I'm faithfully confident I'd have no on-going lingering regrets or restlessness facing mortality which I could not peacefully lay at the feet of my Lord, Christ Jesus.

Amen Timothy! God just changed a girl's heart two days ago. I am witnessing her change so rapidly which is causing the fire within me to burn more for the Lord. Let's not waste our lives and focus on Him instead, His kingdom and His righteousness.
Run your race with endurance! You are right, it's hard sometimes when everyone else seems not to care about wasting their lives, but God will give us the grace to persevere.
