    SPOILERS AHEAD.
Whoever wrote this, and especially the last episode, should change careers and go drive a bus or something that doesn't require creative ideas. The whole second season is about fake tensions and problems blown up and then resolved easily, with no actual stakes or logic involved.
Oh my god I'm so worried about my spouse who's missing, oh wait there she is, oh but there is no medicine available, oh wait, here it is. Jeez we're gonna die at the bottom of the ocean because the ancestor nearly destroyed our vehicle, no worries, the entire rig comes to your rescue. The scientist goes out on foot alone, into a blizzard while the evening falls, no worries, we can actually drive there, we just didn't tell him to take the car. Now we wait until he analyses the samples in a tent instead of grabbing the samples and analysing them in the lab, because that's a good idea, and then we're nearly killed by the ancestor, but no worries, we're just fine. Oh my, the evil corporation has this prototype vehicle that will deliver the weapon (a remote-control submarine, nothing fancy), and it does deliver the poison, but it's fine, because Rose shows up and sheds a tear inside her divesuit, and that completely reverses the effect of the poison. Darian's evil plan fails in a text message, because that's good television, Coake is killed off halfway and replaced with Bremner who's nowhere near as scary or interesting as he was. Oh by the way, Rose understands everything from a single vision that everyone else has been struggling with, and nobody's even remotely concerned that she's infected herself and may be under its influence, we just believe in her completely and let her do whatever she wants to. Fulmer, who confronted her about being a bitch to him makes a U-turn, because love conquers everything, and the infection isn't a big deal anyway, because it can be completely cured with a single dose of vaccine. Evil CEO turns out to be a kind mother figure after all, and if she says, I regret making this decision then all is fine. In the end, when Rose stands in front of the heart (which makes zero sense given the entity is made of billions of particles), and she says 'We've done everything', I nearly spat out my tea. What exactly have you done? You walked there to stand on a ridge in awe while you condemned your lover to certain death, except not, because the rig comes to the rescue. Again! Same deus ex machina trick twice in one season. No worries though, because the ancestor is the good guy here, let's forget the countless deaths it just caused, that's because of the evil corporation. Kind of like a sociopath saying look what you made me do while beating his wife to death.
There are very talented actors in this show who are completely underused with a script that goes literally nowhere. Rochenda Sandall's performance in every single frame she's in is stellar, but her character has nothing to do. Mark Addy brings a very scary bully with zero depth and is killed off halfway. Alice Krige is a brilliant actor with a character that has no definition (and yes, she does look quite odd in this for some reason). Iain Glen's character has no arc, and Emily Hampshire is completely miscast in a role that requires charisma and badassery and all she does is talk with the same facial expression regardless of what's happening.
    Complete waste of time.
