...wow. I cannot even imagine trying to pay for MY wedding with wedding gift money, and spending so much I'll be deeply in debt without generous gifts of money! When I first talked wedding with my MIL, she asked me what my vision was for my wedding. I told her, "Justice of the Peace."
She was so appalled.
Both she and my husband wanted a big church wedding. I talked them down to a church "outbuilding" often used for weddings and far more reasonable than the main chapel. She tried so hard to get me involved/ excited about planning the wedding... I told her flatly that she and hubby wanted the big wedding, they could plan it. I'd maintain veto rights. She didn't like that I was disinterested in the planning, but respected my upfront honesty about how big a part I was willing to play.
If she'd told me she was willing to repay what we spent on the wedding, she would have been less frustrated by my veto-ing all the extras she wanted. We had the most bare bones wedding we could have in that chapel, and reception at her country club. Simple cake, decent food, DJ for some music. As minimal as I could trim it, because that was the budget I thought I had to work with.
I wasn't expecting the cash gifts pinned to my veil, nor for MIL to ask how much we spent on everything, then writing out a check to cover "everything". And I kept my mouth shut about how angry I was when she paid me back at the reception, because she couldn't know I'd be able to stick to a budget and her son is a spend thrift. It was realizing that we would have had less friction over the year of planning if she'd ever just told me that she'd reimburse me for the cost if I stayed within a certain amount. A whole year of me telling her 'no' "...because we can't afford [that]."

In so many of these stories, the bad people in the story are taken to a factory usually somewhere in the countryside to work off their debts. And if they escape they are brought back. I know that would not be allowed for one minute in the US. Are there places where this is tolerated?
In some some Asian countries where I suspect many of these stories originate from. You often see clues to this from troupes being used.
A lot of these stories are from Asian cultures, and other countries, that are very different than the US. The cultures are so fascinating when you study other cultures.

Only thing wrong in the first story is the dad opening himself up to a lawsuit for firing the son for cheating as firing someone who cheated in a relationship by itself is illegal. Discrimination due to family status or lack thereof. Married people, divorced people, widowed, separated, and single people in certain contexts are a protected class. The military is the only exception as military law and military life is a completely different world than civilian law
Yes Japan doesn't have civil rights by statute or codified in law but usually handles stuff like that de facto, even if de jure allows distasteful things as they don't like even the appearance impropriety or any that warrants outsider(ie: law enforcement)involvement.
Most other peer nations, dad can get sued for firing for that reason. If the circumstances are egregious enough, even criminally prosecuted.
All is moot because sister needs a marriage license in her name to get married in the first place. Even Japan and most of Asia needs similar documents for a marriage to be valid.

Asking for venue/catering fees for wedding cancellation is appropriate from parties who were going to marry to split, not third party. Hope future stories get this correct, it ruins the story believability.

The voices in the 2nd story are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo annoying..... Dolly and her sister just sound very bored, and I've noticed that in each story these 2 voice actors are used there is always the lines "It's a lie, That's a lie, That has to be a lie" or "That's got to be a lie" so annoying.
You videos are good except for one thing. when you address someone directly why do you address them in the third person saying their name instead of you or yours? Like you are talking ABOUT them instead of TO them. That just sounds so silly like the people who talking are three years old or something. It is really distracting and takes away from your videos.
