    You are a blessing. I wanted this information so so badly and finally I can learn more about my people. It's so hard to find our ancestral I formation online in such an easy to understand way and in English. Sadly I don't speak Spanish lol.

      Rosetta Stone for Spanish, although would be nice to have Taino Language on there because Spanish is the invader's language.

    New subscriber. Safe to say us Taino are really yearning to learn our roots being as though school doesn’t teach it; parents and grandparents may no longer b here on earth any longer, or we just don’t trust ancestry. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

    Much of my dna is dominican and puert rican. Born into Catholicism, but in a family slowly straying from it over time. The other side of my family is Venezuelan. Both sides are very close to their origin, my dad is an immigrant and my mom’s grandfather grew up farming in Santo Domingo, where they had for many generations. Ive been wanting to learn more about Taino culture, and watching this i see a startling amount of similarities to my own personal spiritual beliefs and Taino spiritism. Manifestations, not deities, and being grateful for all that’s around you. Im not one to be a person with strong belief of fate or belief traveling beyond spoken word, but i do find it to be something.

    I have always wondered about this. I've always felt very connected to it, my whole family lived in Puerto Rico until the 1920s and it became something we couldn't talk about because it was looked at all devil worship witch craft! So my family became christain

    I thought Yaya was the highest spirit and was a male. I read this in the mythology and religion of the tainos. The male spirits deal with the spirit realm and atabay represents the material world

    This is like Japanese Shinto. The Taino and Lokono language also sound to me close to Japanese. Apparently they may have come to south America through the Pacific, and probably part of the polynesian people.

    Como Puertoriqueño nacido y criado aya la palabra espiritismo no es la correcta, seria espiritualidad ya que el espiritismo es considerado voodoo/brujeria magia negra.

    Jajajaja, ¿Confundiste el tarot con el juego de la lotería mexicana? Te pasaste, ese es un juego tradicional mexicano de principios de siglo XX.

    • @bruja_cat
      @bruja_cat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Estas tan enojada con algo de que sabes nada sobre que echaste este comentario en un video que ni siquiera hablaba NADA sobre tarot ni la lotería mexicana. Este video no es sobre eso. Tal ves debes seguir leyendo y investigar sobre barajas de oráculo para encontrar lo que es posible cuando entiendes como hacer divinación. Las brujas pueden usar cualquier tipo de cartas, dominós, y otros útiles para divinación, no es solamente tarot. Y además, busca la historia de tarot y como fue creado… igualmente como la lotería, empezó como un juego. No digo esto con maldad, quiero ayudar a gente para entender magia y formas de brujería.

    Hi, I’m Taino. Our spiritual practices our closed. Please take these videos down. We were literally killed for practicing our beliefs. And our elders worked so hard to revive our language and beliefs. It shouldn’t be shared with the world.

      I totally understand where you are coming from but I am Puerto Rican and wasn’t taught my culture so finding people like this who share information is amazing for me. I don’t think she wants to invite people into a closed practice but there are many of us PR people who are disconnected with our roots and genuinely want to connect.

    • @ivas2118
      @ivas2118 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      Respectfully, I understand the urge to keep spiritual practices hidden to prevent it from being watered down and exterminated. However it’s important to share this information to prevent it from being forgotten and lost. I’m Puerto Rican and I know nothing about my culture, I know nothing about pre-Christian spirituality because my family traded it in for Christianity and American culture. People like us need to learn to reconnect with our roots.

    • @Blood_Hibiscus
      @Blood_Hibiscus 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Unfortunatly our spiritual practices have been wiped out by spaniards and colonizers and it's almost impossible to find info about our origins. My family is very christan and they never talk about the origins or spirtual practices of our ancestors. They don't like anything that has to do with brujeria or anything that's not christan related. So I never grew up knowing about my origins until I decided to do a little more research.

    • @bruja_cat
      @bruja_cat  3 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      With all due respect, NOT informing people WILL be the death of these traditions. I am not going to police closed practices, that is for the individual to decide if it’s appropriate for them. This comes from tiktok’s teenaged and young adult influence trying to be the spiritual police over minority groups they are not a part of. The Taíno culture has been oppressed for hundreds of years since 1495, if we don’t share these videos and discuss these practices and continue this oral tradition, IT WILL DIE. Researching this information is incredibly difficult because of the historical paper genocide. If we continue to talk about the Taínos in a past tense, only in a historical tense, and not being active in our preservation in our modern day present tense, this information will be reserved only for the privileged. This wealth of information will only be accessible from museum exhibits for the wealthy who can afford to go or through oral tradition being passed on. Our education in schools already removes so much of our Taíno history and culture that we barely know who we are. That is the level of paper genocide and erasure we had to endure. TH-cam is our new modern day oral tradition and this information is not and should not be private so that it can endure. Also, I’m not aware of any present day Taíno people being killed for their beliefs so your comment is speaking out of context from a historical standpoint that no longer exists. Taíno people in modern day are allowed to practice, that’s what these videos are for. We still have areytos and attend powwows. So I understand your sentiment, but let’s think about this in a present day and future tense for our people.
