    Could you do a video on your aviary?

    Perfect timing!! I bought my first orchid yesterday for $1 from the clearance rack of a local nursery. It looks exactly like this.

    RIP to that mother Angraecum orchid😢 Good luck on the salvageable Keiki! Also, do you mind making a Epidendrum update? Thanks❤

    The leaves are very tight on this Angraecum (Oncidiums, too)! But a trick I often use to dry deeper between leaves than my fingers allow is to use a small flat, squared bristled paintbrush to push a paper towel in deeper between leaves. I have one w/ tiny 4mm x 4mm bristles & another 6mm W x 13mm L both from cheap $1 store brush sets. While some leaves are impossible to get in between, this trick does help for many. (Also great damp for digging pests out! Better than cotton swabs!)
    Tip for my tip--$1 store sets are quite cheap quality so crimp flat w/ pliers at the metal ferrule pinch point so bristles don't fall out easily!

      Am I understanding that the leaves and or in between the leaves should not get wet?

      @@marilynyearwood9123 Yup...it's general good practice so u don't open yourself up to potential rot. Just happened to me on an 8 yr old phal :( Even when you're careful rot can still strike but keeping leaf crevices dry helps lower your odds.

    I wonder if you couldn't hang her upside down and water/feed the roots.
    Edit: In the viable time, during and after treatment. ❤❤

      Hi, no it wouldn't help due to the capillary action dragging the water deeper into the tight structures :)

    You mentioned insecticidal sticks in this video. Can you provide the name of the sticks. Maybe I misunderstood but if not I would like the name of the sticks.

    I thought that my orchid pots had to have ventilation holes through them for the orchid to breath and not get to wet. So I can use regular pots?

    • @MissOrchidGirl
      @MissOrchidGirl  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, the safest pots are the ones with extra ventilation. Unless you live in a very warm environment for most of the year, I wouldn't use the pots I use in the video 😊

    Has anyone had experience w/ silica? Products like Dyna-Gro Pro-Tekt or Agsil16H? Been curious as it touts improved stem structure & higher resistance to rot, disease, pests, heat/sun damage & frost. I don't doubt it can improve mechanical strength but does it actually provide resilience to the other stressors/damaging afflictions?
