Dwarf crayfish are my new obsession! They are super similar to shrimp in size but they are hardier and a little bigger which makes them better for fish tanks (peaceful fish that is). Let me know which one you liked the most! Check out all the crayfish we keep and new ones to come here: flipaquatics.com/collections/freshwater-crabs
This was some great timing on the video upload because I JUST ordered the blue mini crayfish from the site and this video gave me a good idea of what to expect appearance wise!
same they grow quick! the only one i have got a hold of a guppie overnight and i found him halfway finished with the guppy, he goes into jail for the night until I give him away
I've been eyeballing some CPO's for a few months. I picked up a few Amano shrimp from you a few months back and they're doing great! Very active and fun to watch. Only thing is that once these die off there won't be anymore since the eggs won't hatch out in fresh water. So i've been thinking about getting a pair or two of CPO if and when my Amanos start to age out.
Peaceful you say? During their entire acclimation time I had to play ref between all of them fighting. It was male on male, female on female and female on male. Bros were throwing fisticuffs. Now they just randomly beat each other up in my tank when one another find each other. It's like watching a turff war in my tank at all times.
Short story: CPO with black orchid betta. Corner of my eye I saw a flash of orange. I look in the tank, the betta was doing 100 mph around the tank with the CPO clamped on to its tail....shredded his tail up pretty bad.
Had an orange Mexican crayfish attack a longfinned male betta. He/she grabbed onto the betta's pectoral fins and would not let go -- took a wild ride around the 15 gallon aquarium until I caught both of them in a net. The betta was terrified. 😢
He did say they are opportunistic, I actually had almost the exact same thing happen except the CPO grabbed it's tail fin and also let go on it's own so I didn't have to intervene. Definitely gave me a surprise to see my Betta moving so fast away from something but I couldn't help but let out a giggle when I saw the Cray trailing behind by one claw only to let go and go into hiding once it landed 😂 he definitely avoided the CPO from then on whenever he saw it.
I need help. I got cajun dwarf crayfish last week. And today I did a small water change which was not even half a gallon and they started acting drunk. I checked their water and everything is good. Some would swim and flip on their back and stay there for a few seconds and then get back up and swim and then again flip on its back and then get back up. 2 did die. But the other ones idk. I'm using the same water as my electric blue crayfish
It sounds like there was a sudden change in parameters, such as temperature, pH swing, chlorine, etc. Lots of reasons but definitely due to a sudden change in their environment
I have a friend who has crayfish and they are moving. The friend wants to give me the crayfish. I'm looking for assistance setting up a 20-gallon tall aquarium for crayfish and their care?
Struggling with these dwarfs , i keep mine in a 75 gallon at 74 degrees with shrimp. And chili rasboras . Got hides rocks stem plants Java moss fluval stratum and stem plants. I've bought a dozen twice now. Everything else does fine , both times I've started with 12 they do fine for a couple weeks and then I loose 3 or 4 then the rest will be fine for a few weeks and I'll loose 3 or 4 . 30% Water change twice a week. Any ideas as to what is causing this? Too warm? Thanks in advance to anyone who takes the time to give there input. Thank you
They are very sensitive to metals. So maybe you have some rocks that contain metals (most commonly iron oxide) or maybe your water could have some metal contamination? But it could also be the temperature. In my experience they prefer it a bit cooler. (Around 20C or 68F)
i have 5-6 with eggs attached, i separated the parents who have eggs, and gave them shelter. but after a few weeks the eggs just disappeared. do you have any advice for me? btw i'm from indonesia and just learning about mexican dwarf cryfish
I use water column substrate. PVC cage with string and 1/8 inch plastic netting with scrap pvc on the bottom. On a 55g I can 6x the living space . 🦐🦐🦐🦐🦐🦐
@@kittensnugs No. There is wayyy too many animals in just 20 gallons that the ammonia build up will overpower any 20 gallon filter. Around 20 fish should be kept in a 20 gallon tank. 42 needs the bare minimum of around 50 gallons. A crayfish should have at least 5 gallons and 10 for the best setup. I would have all of that in at least 70 gallons for all of them to have enough space and also so they don't die from their own feces and buildup of food.
Should they? No. it would be difficult and costly for a small business like this to know all livestock regulation for every state and territory to where they ship. They'd need to hire multiple people to just understande and qualify every purchase is "legal". Nice idea, if you don't want companies like this to exist.
Dwarf crayfish? Keep in mind all crayfish poop up a storm, lurk like aquatic praying mantises, will catch and eat your fish, are not great tank cleaners.
I have seen one regular size crayfish attack and eat another . Honestly it freaked me out . I'm sure people are trying to use docile examples. Still I wouldn't trust them. Just saying. Anyhow, I wish yall good luck with them and all.
Hi, sir. I need your cooperation. About a year ago, I did setup a tank for breeding caridina shrimps. Cause I didn't have access to ADA, Benibachi, or Shirakura soil, I chose the Dennerle brand and, failed. I'm pretty sure the reason I failed is just using this soil. Now, I have access to ADA soil. What do you think about using a top filter, securing its entrance with a sponge and pouring the ADA soil into the top filter and passing water over the soil and bringing the pH level to the ideal state? Meanwhile, the use of bacteria, within seven days, to neutralize the releasing of ammonia through the ADA soil

How often does the dwarf crayfish need to be fed?
Ok Flip, you got me started on neocardina shrimp and now you have me interested in dwarf crayfish! What gives? Love you guys!
This was some great timing on the video upload because I JUST ordered the blue mini crayfish from the site and this video gave me a good idea of what to expect appearance wise!
I bought what I thought was a dwarf crayfish. He's now six inches.
Lmao 💀

@@ScissorsProduction he caught the guppy while he was sleeping towards the bottom of the tank, they’re hunters

I’ve seen amanos live for 20 plus years.
I just ordered an Orange Mexican one and a Blue Brazos from you guys and now I stumble into this video!! 😎 can’t wait for them to arrive 🤩
Hope you enjoy them!! They're so fun to watch!

Great video! what did you say you use for the bottom substrate? thank you,\
Cool video! I didn’t know about these dwarf crayfish. I keep my take between 72-74. Would they be ok in that temperature range?
Great video. Thank you
Amazing ❤

Poor thing u can add dechlorinator API with aloe Vera and add tannins too in the water to help it grow

Will crayfish eat snails? If so what is the best one to get for a small planted tank?

Can the be tank mates with shrimp
I got a blue Cambarellus diminutus, I've had her for a few weeks but she seems to be more brown. The PH is good, what could be causing this?
Would bleeding heart tetras be good to keep with em?
could i safely keep alot of these mexican crayfish in a 75 gal tank with ANGEL FISH ? and PLATIES
Can cpo and Brazos breed together

Im so sad these are not allowed in Sweden (because there is a chance for them to make our own crayfish extinct). They look so fun to keep.

Same.
What would be the biggest crayfish that one can get in America?
I’m in New Jersey I’ve got a 40 gallon, where do I get these? I want every color !!!!
We sell them here!: flipaquatics.com/collections/freshwater-crabs
I had 4 in a 125 and they demolished my plants. They now reside in my pond.
They love plants.
what kind of plants did you have?
Can I keep:
20 Gallon Tank:
30 Red Panda Shrimp
1 Orange Crayfish
12 Galaxy Rasboras
Way too many fish for a 20 gallon. That needs at least 70
You definitely can do that! Id recommend lots of live plants and lots of hiding places for the shrimp
