For what it's worth - Not sure if you have access to a copy (usually they exist in paper at the very least) of the service manual. Should be a procedure (like with car brakes) of back to front, low to high, etc. for purging the lines and making sure the bubbles are chased out in a logical order.
This brings to mind the similar situation with running a diesel engine out of fuel. You never just refill the tank and start it. There is a procedure for getting the filters and pumps filled and primed before attempting a start.
I've used a couple of the vac line pumps and not nearly with as much ease or first time success as you and Wes had this round. Glad that worked out for you!

I understand filling the cooler. But, I'm surprised the system wouldn't burp out that little bit of air that was left. But hey, I used to work on C-130s. Little bit different than a tractor. Thanks for the video, Mike. I always enjoy watching.

+Nicholls & Sense I think you're right, it would have. There wasn't nearly as much air in there as we thought. I thought I had drained out all of the fluid and cavitated the pump, but the loader was still working and the hydro was still moving it forward and reverse so I should have known it wasn't THAT bad. More than anything we were wanting to test out the new vacuum device. It's a cool tool.

Thank you, the hose on the outlet appears to have failed on ours & I was planning to do this myself, just needed to make sure it was as easy as it appeared.

I have a John Deere tractor and assume the same procedure applies to those tractors also. That is one problem I have not encountered yet on my tractor, but know what to do after viewing your video.

Great video i think i might add a cooler to my tractor the fluid gets very hot sometimes and it would add to my fluid capacity i never thought of it till i saw this video

+bud moore (buckshot32000) If you brush hog a lot it wouldn't be a bad idea if you can find a way to tap into the hydraulic system. The service guys always told me that hydro tractors and brush hogging didn't go well together but I've never had any problem with it. I usually don't run over about 3-4 hours at a time though.

Good video. I will advise next time, might want to cap off those hyd lines when using water around them.

+Scott Davis I thought about that, it would have been a wiser move. I was 1/8th mile away from the shop when the tractor quit and had been back and forth enough that I elected to take a chance and get the job done versus being really careful. I figured since the lines pointed down the amount of water that went in there would be minimal, but you never know. Good point.

It's been a while since I did that, I think it was $208. It was $100 cheaper than NH.

Goof ball, always check and top off the hydraulic tank before you start vacuum bleeding.
