    I love reading the history of the ship every time i’m on it. Been on it twice or three times in my life, and nova star once. Wawel feels like high quality old boat and Nova star feels like a low quality new boat. I love Wawel and miss being on her while reading about her times in Dover-Calais. I also miss walking around on the top deck (sun deck?) and watching the yellow sun rise on the pink skies around her big beautiful square wings. Feel that fresh wind of the sea and hear that comfortable sound of the engine just purring along over the ocean. I miss it. We don’t have a car for these long trips anymore and other things in my life makes it harder. But growing up, oh what a feeling. I wish i had tried a cabin with windows.

    It's so nice to see the old ship still lives. My father in law was her electrical officer when she was the Stena Fantasia. I spent a great deal of time aboard her. I also worked aboard her in the early 1990s as the resident DJ. Happy days.

      @@PlaneandTrainWindowSeat No problem. Sadly My father in law passed away last year. I once did an open air Disco Show out on the deck of this old lady. We setup a 50k sound system and huge light show right around the outside of the dome. It was awesome coming into the port of dover at midnight playing really loud music. All I could see was people up on the white cliffs of dover taking photos of us as we pulled up to the birth. I even had the port workers dancing on the key side. Great times indeed. 🙂

      @@gnosis676Hello. I started regular crossings Do-Ca 94/95 and there were no DJs onboard and I don't remember ever going inside 'the dome', though on the Fiesta/ Cezanne, I remember it was open and had a bar inside it. Presumably this is where you were based on Fantasia? It was a long time ago, but I seem to recall it would have been above the duty free shop.
      The Fantasia was a great ship. The slowest and perhaps not the best sea-keeper, but masses of open deck space, exhausts that produced music not noise and the foreward lounge was the best. Certainly a better experience than the two rattleboxes that p and o run now. To think how different it would have been if Stena had bought PO out of POSL. Condolences for your father in law.

      @@derektaylor2941 Hello Derek. Sorry I lost my password for that other account. I was based on the Stenna invicta, She had her own nightclub, and often did gigs on the Fantasia, and on two occasions the challenger. Derek sailed on the fantasia even before she was converted from a freighter. His main ship was the Vortigern, which he worked on since she came into service until sold in 1988. He worked on a number of other ships. The dome had an arcade inside as I recall. As for Music. I know those engines very well indeed. Lost count how manytimes my father in law ( Derek Ward ) A Crew, took me down into the control room with the lads. Did you know about the *Time Tunnel* ??

    History of MAZOVIA
    MAZOVIA was built 28 years ago in Indonesia. Previously this ship was built as GOTLAND. The shipyard that built it was Dock Kodja Bahari (DKB) in Jakarta. This is the largest ship. which was built there Initially this ship had a carrying capacity of 32,000GT perhaps due to several modifications this ship was reduced to 29000GT

      @@PlaneandTrainWindowSeat that is wrong information in fact the ship was built in 1995 and 2023 is the 28th year for the ship Oh yes, if you check the history of this ship, it used to be a Swedish flag, where Sweden was the one who ordered this ship

    Thank you for your answer. I've been traveling since Scandinavia, always with a big dog. I also use Stena Line ferries. It's a carrier and it's a carrier ... Only the difference is colossal. I am able to pay more for the ticket, but I want to eat well and sleep well before continuing my journey overland. If it was a typical cruise ship (swimming pools, slides and lots of other attractions) ok ... sail slowly and even stop somewhere in the Caribbean. But most people traveling from or to Poland are working people. It can be seen when they leave the ferry :) Maybe one day Stena Line will sell its ferries to polfferies.Regards Anders.

      Thank you for your comment. I can see you point and perhaps you have better comparison as I was on long distance (overnight) ferries only 4 times in my life. BTW there is a new ferry being built for Polferries for use on Świnoujście - Ystad route. I wonder what it will be like. Regards. Robert

    Hi. Everything ahead of you, travel too. I don't swim often, once or twice a year, but I tested Polfferies. Stena Line and TT line (the last one Trelleborg-Rostock) I bought a VIP ticket for Stena Vision video link th-cam.com/video/0adJ3RoTYKI/w-d-xo.html It's just the entrance to the ferry. Included in this bundle are You are the first to arrive and the first to leave the ferry. It may be an expensive trip, but what a convenience. I wish you and other travelers better means of transport. Regards, Anders

    polferries, the worst ferry line that ever existed. Ferries sail at a speed of 35 km / h, therefore the journey takes 18 hours ... Why!!! If they traveled 50 km/h, the trip would take about 10 hours, i.e. from 6:00 pm to 4:00 am or from 9:00 pm to 7:00 am. But then the carrier would not earn on a disco, restaurant, shop ... And what do they have to offer? Nothing!!! Wasted time on poor quality ferries.

    • @PlaneandTrainWindowSeat
      @PlaneandTrainWindowSeat  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would agree to certain extend but the speed and facilities onboard are not an issue. The speed of the newest Stena Edda running from Gdynia to Karlskrona is 37 km/h so it is not much faster than Wawel. Most other if not all ferry companies running on the Baltic Sea offer similar facilities and by the end of the day they running business so they have to earn money. My only issue with Wawel is her age and this is especially visible inside the cabins. Thank you for your comment.

      If you see what luxury regular japanese ferries have to offer (free spa onboard, decent food ) ,and all for a comparable price, then I wonder who makes the profit here (price of work is higher in J than in PL)
