It's also a good thing to have both options for powering up your lights . I set mine up for both . Unfortunately for where I live we have power outages on a pretty regular basis . Although our house has a back up generator ,our garage does not and it has only one window for daytime lighting . So I set mine up to run on a AC/DC transformer for daily use and then back up batteries for when we lose power . Obviously it's a little more complicated than taking out the battery contacts and wiring it straight to the transformer but it's well worth it if you need to have option of running either one .
Before 2:17 she talks about why she wants to convert the device to run on AC. At 2:17 she starts connecting wires. At 3:24 she puts everything back into the housing.
I have a very cool LED tree light but it is solar. There's only an indication saying 200mA / 1000mA. I would have thought I could connect to a charger or something, but I'm not sure. Any advice, or even better, what about a mod from solar lights to (maybe) 5v charger?
I've been thinking to do this for years, my Yongnuo 160 eats all the juice within a few minutes. I think you explain it in the video, but why you didn't put a switch in order to keep the possibility of using batteries? That's the mod that I was looking for, because outdoors the batteries are so handy even if they don't last long. I use both rechargable and alcaline it doesn't matter at all they are a pain in the ass. Cheers
At the time honestly it was just easier for the skill level I was at to make it exclusively AC power instead of keeping in a battery option, but a switch would definitely work. Another concern I had at the time was how to keep the housing intact to accommodate the batteries and an AC option
Hi great and instructive but too fast, can you go more slow and explain how to convert solar power light in to electricity power, i purchase a solar power security light but runs out of power to fast, can you help me. Yohann
I actually did the same kind of mod to light I use too. Its not a monoprice one but it looks really really similar I got some form of battery adapter with mine, that slotted into whatever battery slot is in between the AAs that I guess was for connecting some other type battery that I don't have so I decided to sacrifice it. I added the DC jack into that adapter which I can then slide in of out of the light depending on if I need it to be battery powered or not. I also added a bridge rectifier into it so regardless of the polarity of the dc jack it would provide the correct power to the lights (I had a few 9v adaptors from guitar pedals knocking about) Not much to look at, but it works a treat! imgur.com/a/piYa6
Definitely not a tutorial for us newbies...... You talk fast and flew through this. I'm looking to hook up trailer lights to an outlet, with a switch, so I can put them on my son's for truck bed. Don't know where to find a tutorial.. :/ I'm also looking to modify a light this same way, but it's a rechargable battery. For some reason, when the wire was nicked, I resoldered but it still doesn't work. I even tried reversing the wires...

Hi.
Which adapter did you use?
3v?
How would you do the other way around? AC power to run on battery?
How did you choose the power source?

What about converting to watch batteries they last longer than the others
What to do if the battery is built-in? Thanks
How did you invert the DC leds to run on ac power what type of inverter did you use

Thanks for the reply, cheers!
I have some solar gnomes which do not get enough sunlight in my yard. How can I convert my gnomes
You must use an ac dc adapter with the proper power requeriements , P=VI
hello , my ledlight circuit board got fried, can i just put volatge directly to the led board. wich voltage? thanks
And yet um trying to find out how to do the opposite! Hopefully this is reversible. Need to run car fibre optic light kit via powered bank, not car
Rock n roll! I have a rat in my house. Needed to do this.
Great job! Looks Pro!

thanks for this. I am wanting to do this and finally found you. Thanks!
You rock..totally answered my questions!!!!!

That's great! And it does look really similar.
Oops! I clicked the like button once again before watching the video.
No worries though, it's never been a disappointment :)
Thanks so much!

I want to do the opposite, run a wall socket only light on battery.
Can you say rocky road
Noods
Boring 😒
