I did an experiment! I recorded the first 3 songs in this video with a classical guitar. The sound is quite a bit different than my normal guitar. Let me know what you think, should I record more songs with the classical or do you prefer the sound of my normal steel string guitar?

I think it's okay to record more songs with the classical. Its deep sound makes me feel stable and reliable and it matches this Christmas winter season!

The classical sound is deep and rich, Josh. I’ve enjoyed your music for some time and I play your music for my 2 year old granddaughter who is on the spectrum. She loves string sound and I look forward to sharing this new video with her on our next visit together. Thank you for sharing your gift, sir.

I actually prefer the classical guitar sound. So rich. Notes are more sustained which I like. Great complement to the finger playing style which I’m growing to like. Well done. Of course the choice of Christ honouring songs is of ultimate beauty and importance.

Man of steel! 💪 I've always preferred steel strings! Nylon strings once in a while is good too. Just love the ringing sustain of open strings and harmonics. But thats just me. All is well. 🙂

I love it all so much. I used to be a Jehovah's witness and this is my very first Christmas celebrating. The Jehovah's witness doesn't celebrate anything. I love these songs. Jesus is the reason for the season. I left in 2021 but never celebrate anything before. Im 31 years old.

The classical guitar sounds more peaceful than the regular guitar. For volume the regular is better. But for mood, I think the classical is better.

May our precious Lord continue to bless you as you share this fine worship with His family. I'm not a musician. It sounds smooth and deep with the classical guitar. More elegant. In reality. Both guitars sound beautiful. Respectfully. A Jesus loving grandma from Puerto Rico.

Hi Lilia, Thanks for the feedback. My original thought about the classical is that it is softer with a richer tone but the acoustic is more brilliant. Of course, the other side is that the classical can sound dull and the acoustic can sound harsh. I guess that each has its advantages and disadvantages. Variety is the spice of life. :)

The deep tone of the nylon strings are really nice, but the steel strings are also good. It is ok to switch back and forth, depending on the hymn or mood you wish to include. It is like going back and forth between strumming and Fingerstyle. Both are methods of conveying the message of praise to Our Lord musically, so they are effective instruments in the guitar toolbox. The important thing, in my view, is to consecrate the work to the Lord, and let the Holy Spirit lead you in deciding the method you need for a particular hymn or song.

Nothing surpasses the accustic sound ! Keep going ! Eventually you will dance your fingers on these strings according your feelings in your heart and let us feel with you. ! I always think of pre electronic sound, its all done with resonance .
A body of resonance and strings , or breath, or drumpaddles or bells and cymbals, horns and harps.....hand crafted...God's beloved instruments with Gods beloved people praising and thanking Him for all His goodness...

The spirit of Christmas is a spirit of joy and wonder that none who receive the love of His spirit soon after speak evil of this most sacred and holy day where we join together in honor of the Lord our majesty. May your hearts be filled this time of year with the sound of hope, and may your spirits be lifted by the love of His grace, for His majesty and wisdom is revealed to those who worship Him on Christmas day. Christmas is special, because love is special. Love is special, because love is honor. Honor is best, I tell thee true, because there is no Christmas, and there is no love without honor. Praise God for His mercies are endless unto those who would honor His son, who alone, has established Christmas day by the grace of His presence.

As I continue to listen the guitar just brings out such beautiful tones of the Christmas carol’s. My daddy and my brother are both missed who loved playing their guitars. My brother Bobby was self taught by watching daddy play for years. Music was a big part of our family and continues to be! Never learned how to play an instrument but used my voice instead in church and sing for nursing homes for years! For the past couple of years lost interest in singing due to the Covid. Hopefully we can all see Gods wonderful changes this coming year that will inspire us to keep our faith and trust in Him! Hope everyone had a blessed Christmas with full of happy new memories !

Hi Lily, I'm so glad you enjoyed that! I have been working on the Hallelujah Chorus since the summer of 2013 so it has taken a long time to get it right. I still keep working to play it better. It's probably the hardest thing I've ever played. I do want my playing to be for the praise and glory of God. I owe Him everything! God bless you and have a great Christmas season.

I'm quite fond of the smooth and mellow sound in the first 3 songs. I appreciate the differences in the different guitar playing (I don't know technical terms). I agree with the person who commented about the use of both the classical and acoustic playing--use both, whichever is best suited to the song.

Great Christmas worship music with classical guitar! I have myself also played guitar (electric, classical and acoustic) since my childhood. I am somehow convinced that a good-quality classical guitar produces simply the best harmonic and richest acoustic tones. Therefore, your great guitar playing skills in my opinion shows off best when you play classical (Spanish guitar). Notably, I observe your beautiful and sensitive flute tones (at fret no 12)! God Bless your guitar playing Josh! I am looking forward to listen more of your worship playing to Glory of God.
Merry Christmas to you and all your dear ones. Best wishes from Tampere, Finland.

This is so beautiful. I love to hear the guitar playing. My son plays it also and love the crisp sound of it. Thank you
    Merry Christmas Josh.
    God Bless you

That's awesome. I met Mike earlier this year when I shared music at his church and he ran sound for me.

Met Mike several years ago in Batesville Arkansas, if we're talking about the author of 'A Man Called Norman' (and others).
He was fishing with his son at Lock #1 on White River.
      Wonderful, genuine man!
      Merry Christmas !!!

@@timeno1763 Hi Tim, That wasn't me actually. I guess there are several people that share my name. Merry Christmas to you though!
