I ended up buying this game after watching your review of it, and have been having an absolute blast playing it and figuring everything out. I finally completed my first campaign this morning! (May the Takeda Shogunate reign forever!) Thanks for all of your hard work putting the spotlight on this game series! Let us know what your favourite clan to play as is. :)
Hey thank you for this. I've been thinking about getting this game for a while now, but it will be my first game in this genre and it looks very overwhelming. A short concise video is exactly what I was looking for. Some tutorials for games in this genre are 1+hours but I really don't wanna sit through guides that long lol.
As someone who recently played their first game in this genre, I also highly suggest crusader kings 3. It's a great base game, and it is a bit overwhelming to start with but with just a few guides I got going pretty well. It also has an excellent mod called shogunate that converts the game totally to a sengoku jidai setting, and imo it gets rid of a few things to make the game simpler. Not only do I recommend the mod, but I recommend it as a starting spot since imo it works great as a simplified introduction to the greater game.
Hi.there. i'm Japanese. First i'm impressed how you know about Segoku period. Sengoku period is the most facinating in Japan, I believe even in the world it could become popular. Anyway in this game Azai 1572 is so tough and challenging. Try it.
Me while watching the video: Write that down! WRITE THAT DOWN! Seriously though, thank you so much for making this. I’m so use to Sphere of Influence and this has been a big help. I’m still struggle with actual battles in this game. Specially the western army of Sekigahara.
I've got a set of tutorials on my channel skim through those for battle tips they are not too difficult I find most of the winning is done when you Marshall your forces
If you want a more historical challenge you can leave the negative events for your clan on, such as battle of Okehazama for Imagawa. Then you can play as the son and try to do better than he historically did
Great video! I have been playing this game for almost 100 hours so far. It's very niche and complicated game indeed, however, I am coming from ROTK, so I have some basics. This video cover the game very well, concise, and straight to the points!
Thank you for making this video :) I've played and defeated all the nobunaga's ambition games on consoles released in the US and I haven't started this one yet.... but nice tips (should help transition from Taishi)
That will never go down. If you're a fan of Koei then you know they rarely discount their games. Even if they do it's never the games you want discounted
I’m playing with Chinese language so I don’t know the English wording in this game but here’s how I play 1. Always develop the policy that allow you to set town building target goal for all city except Daimyo city, by this you can save your money to build your own Daimyo city, the rest city will get developed by those city keeper. 2. Always develop the policy that will not cost you labour when those city keeper building their city. This will makes you have enough labour to build your own Daimyo city. 3. If you start with several city, choose some city that are far from your enemy and set the city building goal as building for money income, and choose frontier city build goal for military purposes. 4. Always make sure each military city pair with fighting commanders. Commander that are from within same family will get along better so their stats will be higher if they’re appointed in same city. Military city always make sure it comes with level 3 of “Fighting “ “City Attack” and “tanky” 5. Select an inner city that far from enemy reach for money income sources, and select commanders with diplomatic skill and put them together in 1 city, level 5 of diplomatic skill will make them perform better in diplomatic. 6. If you’re facing a strong enemy surrounding you and obviously you can’t fight them now and they refuse to diplomatic with you, don’t be shy to alliance with Shogunate and make your diplomatic credit level max with them, in the event of your enemy strike you, you may asking for help from shogunate, no matter how weak the shogunate is or how strong your enemy is, they have to listen to the shogunate to stop the war with you if shogun helps you to negotiate with them. Personally I play with normal level of hardness But with unlimited lifespan for commanders 😂
100+ hours played already and I can't recommend this game enough! Played all of the recent 4 installments and this is my favourite one, the new dominion system just makes the game incredibly immersive. And I love the fact that it has English localization, this is a great game that deserve one. Weird flex but I can actually play this game in English, Japanese and Chinese version. Completed three games, yes, 100+ hours and only 3 clearance, because this game EATS your time like nothing. You don't even know how time passed when you are playing it, it is that good. 2 of them are in the highest difficulty and 1 of them being a hopeless one castle clan in later stage, so I think I know a thing or two about this game. Will try to make another comment with a few tips about the game here if possible. Anyway, love your vids and looking forward to more content about this game!
Just got the game yesterday Usually id get giant headaches if i don't understand But honestly i was having hours of fun trying to figure everything out It's all new and excitin
Each ai daimyo has unique ai level on it's own that's scaled with game ai level setting, so daimyo like shingen, nobunaga, kenshin and ujiyasu who has S level ai will be much harder to beat as their clan building are extremly relentless even on lower difficulty
Great video. Never played one of these before but looks really interesting. I haven't played a grand strategy game in a long time - the last one was Europa Universalis 4. For someone who enjoyed that, would you recommend this? Also noticed Romance of the Three Kingdoms by the same developer. Not sure which to get.
Any idea what you’re supposed to do if an allied clan has castles you need to achieve regional unity? The game says try a diplomatic approach but, for example, dealing with the early Oda/Tokugawa marriage alliance doesn’t give many options
Yeah I think the only option to do it diplomatically would be to vassalize them and later assimilate the clan. I don't think there is anyway to just ask for the castle.
Devs should implement exchange of castles/assets between allies/vassals, even if it was hard to pull. Going against an old ally for that 1 castle without talking it out first feels bad.
I just want a Nobunaga's ambition without endless jrpg dialogue. This looks so good but I remember detesting the cheesy conversations in sphere of ambition. I just wanted to do grand strategy
Started my first game as the Satomi, seemed a decent size and strong number of troops for a new player. Everything was going really well other than the Hojo constant annoying sabotage to which I decided it was time to settle this on the battlefield as we were similar in strength, that was until random event saw them triple in military size and crush me :(
My subordinate lords and landowners are developing their lands nowhere near as fast as the AI factions. So my settlements (other than one personally managed by me and the substitutes) have very small armies compared to settlements under AI factions. In every war I am vastly outnumbered against AI factions of similar size. How do I deal with this? I keep building and upgrading practice fields in their castles, but unless those damn landowners start absorbing the fairs and farms, the armies remain small.
i will honor him with a poem. Home is so sad. It stays as it was left, Shaped to the comfort of the last to go As if to win them back. Instead, bereft Of anyone to please, it withers so,
If i was a daimyo, I'd hire you as a retainer Shogunate. Certainly, you would be most useful and informative. Eventually you would divide the clan, and turn upon me, finally coming for my head. It would be understandable though because you are cursed with... NOBUNAGA'S AMBITION! *Points fan*
Could you please make an episode on the food or the ration samurai ate ? There are many videos about food eaten by Romans and the Knights but not many regarding the Samurai diet. Thank you
First time I played Shinsei as the Date, I made use of the Militarization tons of times. But then I played as the Akechi, and realize the use of not announcing your target. Hashiba clan covert actions really hurts.
Good to know I'm not the only one that decided to play on normal but decided to tone down AI aggressiveness. Like you took one castle and every clan in the vacinity jumped at it like vultures.
defense battles are stupid, you lose extra hard earned cities for losing even when if loyal people are in charge and i cant reinforce them, nobunaga attacked me and my cities officers had like 6 to 900 between each vs his officers that had near 10k each and i had all the defense policies max defense and the walls did almost nothing, i quit because of the annoyance and negatives, not difficulty I wish the battles were less zerg like, Takeda is OP as an enemy and Uesugi has not been a good anti-takeda buffer since Iron Triangle and Ieyasu is destined to be steam rolled when I'm Nobunaga in fact trying to be honorable and protect my ally put me at war with Shingen and ruined the entire run, their should had been more focus on the battles in my opinion, should had been "like" SOI but better then Taishi, the Defense battles honestly piss me off more then challenge me, many good features, looks beautiful, the policy stuff is great and economic and city building is great but battles i gave a 1/10, I watched Lu Bu Feng Xian do the impossible in his hilarious run but copying him did not work and he won defenses with scrubs vs tough guys and Keiji, it seems officer stats are not so great but things go be determined so randomly. I can do Iron Triangle, SOI and Taishi but only Defense battles to me are dumb it keeps this game from being perfect, if there is a PUK in the future I might not be able to trust it if the defense battle stays the same, that's my descriptive criticism
The story feels like a watered down kids cartoon so far.. Which is a bummer. Even the pics look silly. I'd love to see it look more realistic and reflect the reality of what happened and daily life ect.
The main characters like Nobanaga is what I mean not so much the officers. The wording and even the music feels more like I'm watching gone with the wind. It should sound more like Sekiro or something of that sort. Generic feeling.

Would love to see more videos like this. I've never played but it looks really good and is one of my favourite periods.
I cannot understand how an excellent channel like this does not have many, many more suscribers. You, Sir, rule! Keep on the good work.

My favorite koei strategy series. I bought it as soon as I saw it was available lol
You should someday stream it. I had a lot of fun just watching this tutorial.

Glad to help!!
Thank you so much. Looking forward to getting better in the game
I am waiting for the price go down a bit for this game, otherwise I am kinda stocked for this, always been a fan of KOEI strategy games since 1996
Im waiting too
@@TheCristinelo indeed. As another reviewer mentioned. 60 for this is a bit to steep price. Eventually it will drop.

Right as I've been binging let's plays of sphere of influence and debating which to get, nice
Both are good in their own ways. SoI is more polished though. I feel Awakening needs more updates with mechanical refinements and QoL features.
@@viniciuslessa9682 probably gonna get soi
I have 60 hours now
Another important thing is maintenance of your supplies. Supply stations and Rice Dealers are essential for military campaigns

Three Kingdoms Total War has it well covered, if ur ally that is very close to you has it its like u have it
Either wait for the clan leader to die so the alliance is dissolved or just break the alliance
I just want a Nobunaga's ambition without endless jrpg dialogue. This looks so good but I remember detesting the cheesy conversations in sphere of ambition. I just wanted to do grand strategy
You can ignore all dialogue in this version. All events show up as a "hearsay" box you can ignore so no need to deal with story

Have You cahnge your opinion what do You think at this point is this game batter then sphere of influence ?
Do You appoint substitudes to countys in your main province?
I think its this is the best modern strat game koei has done, just edging out SOI
It’d be great if you could put your hands on Kessen III because you’re really missing out on one of the best games (if not the best) about this era.
Waiting for full gameplay ❤

Can you select the voice acting to be in Japanese but the UI still in English? The English voice actors are abysmal.
Yes Japanese voice acting is now in the game!
would you mind make a review abour sengoku dynasty please?
It's only in early access so I probably won't be reviewing it until full release
Can you play as a single officer in Awakening, like in SOI Ascension?
The game is expensive as hell, im gonna wait for a sale to get it...
Do you have any advice for how I should manage providences
It depends on the situation, what clan are you playing and who are your rivals?
Well I just started a new campaign as the rokkaku clan and I started in 1546
Good to know I'm not the only one that decided to play on normal but decided to tone down AI aggressiveness. Like you took one castle and every clan in the vacinity jumped at it like vultures.
Getting "back doored" is a time honored tradition In koei games at this point 😁
no no no, don't listen to the noob. build at least 1 garden on every substitute district.
also rush for the court asap but consider your fund too.
Agreed it's pretty hard to keep the game historical
5:00 - What the heck's a fair? It looks like a bean. Didn't know beans were a valued commodity in feudal japan. The more you know.
It's a marketplace, also that's a coin.
Seizing fairs allows you to increase your gold income.
Is it better than RotTK XI?
Lol Nothing is better than XI that's the very top of the Golden Era

Shogun 2 or gfto
I hate the officer management system. ROTK & NA fans since 90's.
Nobunaga's Ambition. Because Shogun 2 wasn't micro-intensive enough.
I guess the old, sell all of your food, buy all of the gun. Isnt that important in this game....

that's just japanese JRPG-influenced design philosophy. I agree though, not my favourite
